This property came as a recommendation to us from a work colleague of mine as being well located and an excellent option to stay if looking around Paris. The location was spot on being near two different Metro lines and two big street markets. There was also a small supermarket around the corner with a larger one about 5 minutes walk away. We were able to have several meals in using the kitchen facilities when we were too tired from sightseeing to venture out again. The apartment had everything you would need for a holiday including a washing machine and adequate drying facilities - we wouldn't have packed so much clothing had we known previous to travel. There was free wifi for the duration of the stay plus a stereo and TV which mostly went unloved as we were out a lot of the time. The apartment was clean and secure and the owner/manager couldn't have been more helpful especially as we had a major medical crisis shortly after arriving. There is a booklet available in the apartment listing recommended restaurants which are close and reasonably priced. Pretty much everything is within walking or Metro distance from a tourist perspective including a post office and teller machines. We are considering returning for a second stay and will certainly recommend this place to friends.

I thought this apartment was a very good value. A great location, within a few blocks of two different Metro lines and an excellent shopping street, Rue Oberkampf. It was incredibly easy and cheap to get here from the airport via the RER train and Metro. The general neighborhood is not the least bit touristy and is filled with shops catering to working Parisians not tourists. With the smallest effort on your part you will feel right at home. The manager, Philippe, was great, responded quickly to my initial emails and was waiting at the apartment as promised when I arrived. My deposit was refunded to PayPal before I even got home. The apartment itself is spacious and has light from two directions which makes in very pleasant. The furnishings are basic and comfortable, not fancy. It felt like staying at a friend's house. The kitchen is a basic tiny French kitchen with well used appliances, perfectly adequate. Bed comfy and huge bedroom. The neighborhood itself is very quiet at night for the most part- it was winter so the windows were closed, maybe different in summer. The only caveat is that the upstairs neighbors were very noisy a few times. If you are a light sleeper, earplugs would not be a bad idea. I have rented much fancier and more basic apartments in Paris and thought this one was a good balance for the money. I would stay here again.

As my wife said, it's spacious .light and airy. The apartment was very comfortable, roomy, and well decorated. Lots of light, flower boxes on the windows. A well equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a large tub, and an elevator to the fifth floor ( French fourth). A nice place to spend a rainy Sunday in Paris having a glass of wine while listening to 90.9 FM, the station that plays classic American jazz from the 50's and 60's. . The neighborhood was convenient to the Bastille/Marais/Oberkampf areas, and near stations to Metro lines 5 & 6. Philippe, the owner's rep was quite helpful, and sent us a full packet of information on the apartment and where to eat and shop in the hood. pick up a copy of the "Le Petit Lebey Bistrots Parisiens' and you can walk to half a dozen xcellent bistrots. We're going back in two years.

We recently returned from Paris where we spent three weeks at this wonderful and quiet apartment in the Bastille area. The apartment is exactly as decribed and we enjoyed all it's features. We loved being able to do use the washer and do our own laundry. The kitchen is well equiped with a gas stove, fridge , microwave making it handy to cook small meals. One of the great features of the place is the bed... it's comfortable and large with plenty of room to spread out. Each room has beautiful large windows and we appreciated the colorful flowers which gave a lot of privacy as well. The views of the rooftops from each room gave the apartment the whole parisian feeling. The manager Philippe was very helpful even before our arrival giving us specific information about the neighbourhood. He answered all our questions and concerns. We appreciate his help. Another plus for this apartment is the location. Close to the metro, Bastille and if you like to walk you can catch Rue de Rivoli all the way to the Louvre Museum. We loved the Thursday and Sunday market just 5 minutes away from the apartment...it has everything from crepes to meat, fruit, rotiserie chicken, cheese patiserie items...it's great and a must see for everyone. We are highly recommending the apartment and we'll definitely go back when we return to France.

My boyfriend and I rented this flat for a week in April. It is perfectly located in the 11th, near transportation, excellent shopping and easy for walking to all areas of central Paris, especially the Le Marais. There are wonderful cafés nearby, rue Oberkampf has great food shopping, there is a fantastic street market on Sunday and Thursdays right down the street that should not be missed (even if you do not intend to buy anything; it is a must see!), a franprix (grocery store) and health food store are located right across the street. The flat itself is very nicely furnished, airy and bright rooms, clean, eat-in kitchen and a dining table in the living room. Great views out onto the Paris rooftops; trés Parisien. There is a working elevator, but it is very tiny, so it is one person at a time, but many older Paris buildings don't even have a lift so this is a nice feature. The kitchen is adequate, although if you intend to do some real cooking it is not outfitted with many cooking utensils. However, it is great for heating things up, bringing pre-made foods in from the markets, that sort of thing. Decent fridge for your cheese, fruit, wine, etc. The building is secure and in a safe neighborhood. The neighbors are friendly. Philippe, the manager of the flat, is extremely kind and helpful. Please, heed any recommendations he may make regarding restaurants, shopping, and all things/concerns connected Paris living. He is spot on in all areas!

The apartment was exactly as described, if not better. Very spacious, charming, clean and light-filled. We didn't want to leave. The location can't be beat--near several Metro stations and a Velib bike station--and just a short walk to Canal St. Martin, the Marais and so many good restaurants. Philippe was a pleasure to work with, too, which made our stay even more enjoyable!

What a delight -- this is a gem of an apartment. The apartment is well described in other reviews -- it's clean, spacious, and very comfortable. I wish I had that bed at home, and the windows! As for the location, it's central without being overrun at all -- coming from NYC, this is a bit of a miracle.... The hustle and bustle of the Marais, Oberkampf, and Bastille are just minutes away by foot, but the streets right around the apartment feel entirely laid back, "real," and inhabitable. There's great people watching from the promenade right across the street and coffee shop/tabac next door. Restaurants, bars, bakeries, food shops, etc. are plentiful. And importantly the area is very comfortable and safe. Lastly, Philippe was incredibly generous and kind during all stages of our trip. He went above and beyond in making us feel comfortable in the apartment and also helping me when I left something behind. He is quite a charming man. You are in safe hands!

What a delight to get better acquainted with the 11eme, staying in this apartment. Loved the light, the spaciousness, the location (1 1/2 blocks from 2 Metro stops). The gentleman who manages the apartment is gracious, providing thorough and helpful notes about both the apt and the neighborhod. Immaculately clean, large rooms. Everything works. Nicely decorated. We were very happy with the choice and plan to return. Grateful that it was cozy and warm, with the temperature at a record low outside!

Though the sign in the lobby announced an elevator shutdown that began many days before our stay, the manager told us he'd only found out THAT DAY that the elevator was inoperable. Since the apartment is on the fifth floor, I highly recommend making certain the elevator is operational before accepting the apartment. Walking up and down that many stairs several times a day diminished our enjoyment of the apartment. It is in a residential neighborhood near Metro stations, but without many shops or stores in the immediate area. The apartment was large and clean. Its best feature is the bedding-- comfortable twin beds side by side. Its biggest shortcoming, other than the lack of elevator, was the antiquated bathroom; the tub is hard to access.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Owner response: It was good to meet you. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Paris, the flat and especially the large king sized bed. Very sorry about the inconvenience of the elevator repairs. Hopefully not too great a hardship.I am told it is supposed to be fully operational in a few days. Ph mermi

We had a wonderful week in this charming apartment. We have been to Paris for a week's stay 3 times in the last 3 years, each time moving slightly further away from the centre. This location we have decided is ideal - 10 minutes walk to the Bastille & Place de Vosges, bordering the Marais, 20 minutes to the Seine, near several different metro lines & stations - yet in a non-touristy, local residential area with great food shops and local cafes and restaurants.  The apartment has two, large, beautifully proportioned, high ceilinged, main rooms with (what else but?) connecting French doors. It is full of light, and quiet and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are not urban chic (although they are perfectly nice and functional), but the charm of the apartment is that it is truly Parisian. You feel totally at home as you enter the apartment with a warm baguette, goats cheese and a bottle of red.  By the way the bed IS large and very comfortable, but be warned it is really 2 large single beds (on wheels!) pushed together. If we had one suggestion it would be to provide some form of a clip for those who wish to keep the beds together.  Philippe who welcomed us is fantastic. Nothing is too much and his English put our bad French to shame.

Owner response: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !!!!!! I am so glad to know that you enjoyed the flat. à trés bientôt, j'espère Philippe

Lovely, light and airy apartment overlooking a quiet courtyard. This apartment is not like most of the "Ikea" furnished, anonymous rentals that are more typical in Paris in this price range. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is small but adequate, and there is a good sized living room. You feel like a real Parisian staying here. The small rue Amelot nearby has several interesting restaurants, and there are convenient shops and bakeries in the neighborhood.

Owner response: Merci Jane, very interesting remark about the furniture. It is true that everything is "authentic", sometimes a little "used", I mean not new but everything works. Thank you very much and we hope to see you next year. Philippe

My boyfriend and I wanted an authentic experience for our trip to Paris and that's exactly what we got with this apartment. We could hardly wait for Philippe, the manager, to leave so we could scream with excitement after we saw it. Pictures can't capture its charm. From a spacious living room, light flowing in through French doors and perhaps the cutest bathroom ever (powder blue fixtures!), we were in love. We especially enjoyed the little elevator - which would have to take up our bags separately from ourselves. There's everything you need in the apartment - and wifi is a bonus! The location is perfect - just a minute or two away from several different train lines (we really felt we could get around the city quite quickly), and the neighborhood is charming. All the neighbors in the very quiet building say 'Bonjour' and the area has a very residential feel. This is not touristy at all. Make sure to check out the market just down the road on Richard Lenoir. We look forward to returning!
