Newly renovated year round lake house with all the comforts of home -- maybe even more! We are steps from the beach, the second house from the lake, on a quiet dead end road. Our beach community is in North East, PA... Erie's Wine Country where you can venture out for tastings at 22 wineries. Adults love our spectacular decor and furnishings. Children are delighted here.
We offer the beach, the lake, many wineries, a quaint downtown and excellent fishing. You'll notice a slower pace of life and a small town atmosphere.
Visit in winter for a cozy and relaxing getaway. We are on the Lake Erie Wine Trail where wineries offer year round tasting. Bella Day Spa is close by for a pampering. Find local events at www.nechamber.org or www.lakeeriewinecountry.org.
Relax in the comfort of this stylish home which was completely remodeled and professionally decorated... a beautiful year round cottage setting inside and out.
Larger groups please see our other listing #336468. We have two homes, same street -- just 3 homes apart. Rent BOTH homes to accomodate up to 16 people.
THE HOUSE
Main Floor: living area, kitchen, eating area, 3 bedrooms (Q, F, 2T) and bathroom with shower/tub unit.
Second Floor:
Loft area equipped with 42' plasma TV, Blue-ray Disc player, DirecTV satellite programming with 200+ channels, comfy sectional sofa, board games and toys. We have lake views from the loft.
The fully equipped kitchen includes stainless appliances, large Thermador refrigerator/freezer with icemaker, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, blender, mixer and crockpot. My homes have ample city water (no well water or running out of water issues).
Our CENTRAL air conditioner is a must for hot summer nights, cooling quietly and comfortably. In the winter, this fully insulated home with new furnace is toasty warm. Our guests describe this home as cozy and charming.
THE PROPERTY
The house is located in a private beach neighborhood. Easy walkable beach access (no cliffs/no long staircase) makes this location unique. Our beach is a natural Lake Erie shoreline with stones and sand (please see photos here and on my other home #336468). It is fine for walking, swimming, child's play, sea glass hunting and hanging out on the beach. But, it is not inches of just sand like you might find on some ocean beaches.
Detached two-car garage with full size washer and dryer available for your use. Driveway parking can accommodate up to four cars or a boat -- or a game of pick-up basketball - hoop provided, four-square, hopscotch or chalk art. Bring and launch your kayak or sailboard right from the beach, or jet ski or larger boat from the North East Marina, just 1 mile east.
This property uniquely sits on two lots with large grassy areas for playing yard games. Kids love the tree swing. The backyard is very private... only the yard and the creek about 15 feet down with access points via stairs or level at the beach. We provide a metal firepit in the backyard or you can enjoy a fire at the beach. Collect driftwood from the beach for your fires in the firepit. In the spring and fall, steelhead fish migrate up the spawning creek -- an incredible sight even for the non-fisher people.
Walk on the shore, look for beach glass and build your own driftwood bonfire as you take in beautiful sunsets. We head to the beachfront in the evenings with a glass of wine to view the sunset, a different show each day. The kids happily play at the shoreline, in the creek, in the lake and warm-up to the bonfire as they make s'mores. Treasures abound year round -- beach glass, beach stones, driftwood, and other ordinary objects weathered to 'treasure-status' by water and time.
Bring your bikes. The kids can bike around the neighborhood. You can be more adventurous and take advantage of longer bike rides as well. Bike to the wineries or across Middle Road to enjoy the beauty of surrounding vineyards.
The quaint Victorian town of North East is 3 miles away with small locally owned businesses such as Boston Bean Cafe coffee shop, Grape Country Marketplace, Bella Salon and Day Spa (massages!), Tajana Roehl's Gallery, Rizzo's on the Park, shops, grocery, and drug store. During the summer and fall you will can pick-ur-own produce or buy freshly picked at one the many roadside farmstands. Orton's Farm Market is open year round 362 days per year (great pumpkins here). Restaurants and 9 local wineries are as close as 0.5 miles. Several horse riding stables nearby.
In the summer, don't miss weekly special events such as Music in the Vineyards at Penn Shore and Lake View Wineries, 'Thursdays in the Park' farmers' market and children's entertainment, and Movies in the Meadow at Presque Isle Winery. Visit the North East Chamber of Commerce website for more events.
In nearby Erie, PA (20-35 mins) you can enjoy Presque Isle Downs & Casino, restaurants, nightlife, family attractions such as the Erie Zoo, Presque Isle State Park, Tom Ridge Environmental Center, Waldameer Water and Amusement Park, Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park, the historical tallship Flagship Niagara, performing arts, the Victorian Princess paddleboat.
Fishermen: 16 & 20 mile creeks are within 2 miles for great steelhead fishing. Excellent walleye, perch, lake trout and bass fishing locally. The North East Marina, just 1 mile east, offers reasonable daily rates for a slip rental and parking. Looking for a Lake Erie Charter? Ask me for recommendations.
Special Rates:
May & June Weeknights -- On all remaining May & June 2013 availability, when you book 4 nights, the 4th night is free. Total Cost for 4 Weeknights with this special rate of $715.50 (includes tax and cleaning) and $400 refundable damage deposit.

This cottage is beautiful, we all agreed we'd like to live here. Just a few steps from the beach where kids can paint rocks and go exploring. This house was CLEAN, with all the little extras that you need. Most of all, Lynne is the PERFECT person to rent from (all owners should learn from her). Any problem and she's all over it in a second. She also goes the extra mile to suggeset things going on in the area. Fire pit in the back was great for evening campfires. Can't say enough good things about this place or its owner.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.

I just got back from our trip to this lake house and can't say enough about how perfect it was for us. I used the trip as a surprise to propose to my girlfriend and on Saturday, our families joined us to celebrate. Everything you could ever need was provided in the cottage. Our family couldn't have been more impressed with how clean it was, how nice it was decorated, and how beautiful the views were. We also went to several local wineries and the people were all very friendly. We loved everything about this place and would love to be back sometime in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Ladies Weekend Getaway: Our group of ladies completely enjoyed and relaxed in this quaint cottage by Lake Erie. Large yard with comforable lounge chairs were put to good use. The decor, bright colors, and comfy furniture were a welcome site through the rainy weekend. Plenty of refrigerator/freezer space. Very clean. Nice sheets and warm blankets. Owner very helpful in guiding us in our activities through our stay. We enjoyed the Bella Day Spa for massages and facials. The Boston Bean Cafe served great coffee, tea, and sweets during an unexpected downpour. We enjoyed wine tasting at Sparkling Ponds and Mazza along route 5 and tasting and lunch at South Shores Winery. The local restaurant/bar Freeport served an excellent dinner Saturday night. Grocery store close and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed a quick jaunt to Presque Isle. The pictures we took in no way captured the beauty. Walking along the lake helped wash away our stresses. We all agree we would love to come back this cottage and/or utilize this owner.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location is perfect, 50 yards from the lake in a very quiet, nearly private neighborhood. The cottage is so colorful and charming. The kitchen is super; roomy with all the appliances. Lovely private backyard with a small stream running along the back. The local squirrels are quite talkative. We sat out back for quiet morning reading and ate meals at the picnic table. SUPER treasure hunting on the beach; lots of sea glass, beautiful pebbles, bits of metal and really cool fish bones (yea, I'm an artist). Lynne popped by to make sure all was okay. Will definitely make repeat trips.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I rented this beautiful cottage with our 20 month old toddler for a week in July. The photos posted are very accurate and the cottage is beautifully appointed. Upon entering the cottage appeared to be very clean and smelled lovely. The furniture and beds were very comfortable (I napped more than once on the sofa!), the decor is tasteful (love all the local art), and the Keurig coffee maker was a pleasant surprise amenity! It was so nice to have a supply of beach toys, books, games, and toddler toys available for our use. We used the fire pit one evening to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. :) The dishwasher behaved finicky for us. It may have been user error but we could never get it to actually clean the dishes. The washer and dryer available for use was a life saver! And it was REALLY nice to have detergent and dryer sheets for our use. SO nice not to have to pack that kind of stuff. Also, the air conditioning worked great and kept the cottage nice and cool during our hot weather visit. During our stay, the beach was unusually dirty (lots of seaweed and lake debris - which may have been due to weather?) and very rocky which was difficult for our toddler to navigate. But we loved playing/walking in the creek! If you do plan on bringing a small toddler, a couple of things to consider are: 1.) the yard is nice and flat for playing outside but there is a very steep drop-off to the creek below and the stairs leading down to the creek are pretty treacherous, and 2.) the staircase in the house is steep and we had to keep a close eye on our little one while playing upstairs in the loft. Otherwise, it was very toddler-friendly! A couple of local attractions that were a big hit with us was the Asbury Woods Nature Center and the Water World Water Park at Waldameer. Overall, great vacation with a lovely vacation cottage!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Lynne does a great job in describing her cottage and surroundings to the T. It was truly everything and more. My five year old said, upon arriving at the lake, “Mom, you didn’t tell me it was going to be this great! I love it!!!”….that was the best. First and foremost, it was very, very clean...that's usually the first thing I look at in reading reviews. I am going to try to name all of the wonderful things about this cottage…tree swing, creek behind house-we walked it to the lake, ping pong and pool tables, basketball hoop (which Lynne brought us a brand new one during our stay—THANKS Lynne), some toys for the kids, the large picnic table and fire pit, canoe, nice grill, lounge chairs, very short walk to lake (you can see it from the driveway), the VIEW of the lake was spectacular. We took drinks down and watched the sunset every evening. They had a nice flat screen, with dvd player and an iHome to play music. The loft was very spacious and the sectional was comfy. The Queen bed was very comfortable. The twin beds, one was a little lower to the floor which worked out perfect for our 2 year old. She has everything for the kitchen including a Keurig Coffee Maker. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a few family meals. Although, the grocery store, pharmacy and plenty of restaurants are only a few miles away. The privacy of this area was so wonderful, very few people. SO many rocks, my boys 5 and 2 just loved throwing and skipping them and we didn’t have to worry about the kids throwing rocks and hitting someone! We painted SO many rocks. We found some glitter acrylic paints too and it was so much fun. Plenty of drift wood to collect for fires (which, there were a few baby owls at night, they were so cute!). The coffee shop was wonderful. We didn’t get to visit the wineries but hope to next time. We visited the Erie zoo and went bowling one evening. Lynne was very prompt in addressing any questions that we had. It was a wonderful, relaxing stay. Thanks again Lynne!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I originally went looking for an indoor water park halfway between us and our son (and his family.) Splash Lagoon in Erie was chosen and because we did not really want to do the water park for more than one day, looked for lodging nearby rather than at the water park. This cottage was perfect for us. It had that magical quality for our age 4 and age 2 granddaughters. The TV being in the loft was not an issue for us. We especially appreciated the setting, the cuteness of the interior, the nice appliances, the available bicycles, games for the kids, pool table, WiFi, the fire pit, and the nice barbecue grill. We were within 20-30 minutes of Splash Lagoon and the Erie Zoo. We would stay at this place again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: I am a stay-at-home soccer/baseball/dance mom and enjoy managing our rental properties as it gives me the chance to meet new people and use my marketing background. I am originally from Erie, PA, a graduate of both Penn State and Xavier University (Cincinnati). I have lived all over the country for 20 years. When our kids became school-aged, we moved back to Erie where they could have a place to call home and have close relationships with extended family.
Why the Owner Chose Erie:
As a child, my favorite memories were of visiting this special beach community. My dad's best friend owned this little slice of heaven where kids could be kids, and adults were always in a good mood as they relaxed and enjoyed good company. The tug of good memories was so strong that eventually my parents bought the house next door AND years later, my husband and I bought the other next door home so that we could provide happy traditions and memories for our kids! I have been coming to this place for 40+ years!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I wanted my kids to grow up enjoying the same memories I had... swimming at the beach, combing the shore for beach glass, outdoor bbqs, gathering driftwood for bonfires complete with s'mores, catching minnows and crayfish in the creek behind our house, walking barefoot on a dirt roads to the beach, skipping stones, floating on rafts, painting beach stones and building teepees from fallen tree branches. As an adult, I appreciate getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and entertaining friends or family and their kids just like I remember from those days as a child. When the kids are happy, Mom is happy!
