Pros: The house was nice. It was very private and serene. We enjoyed the quiet. Popular Hapuna beach near by but still a 10-12 minute drive. Cons: The house needs a good cleaning. The master bathroom window and blinds were very dirty. The binds in the master bedroom were difficult to open. Some of the ceiling fan lights did not work. Someone left very smelly trash in the garage. The kitchen is very small. Very remote location. Unfortunately the waterfall was not running. You need to keep your webpage updated about the waterfall. On VRBO it says the waterfall has been running for 2 weeks. That's not accurate. The spa was very dirty.

Manager response: Yes, the ad did say that the waterfall had been running for 2 weeks and it had. We have no control over when it will start or stop, which is why the ad also says quote: (This is a seasonal stream). We wish you would have called us about the cleaning issues because we could have taken care of that. All of our cleaning people are independent contractors, not our employees, and we want to follow up with them if they have invoiced the owner for cleaning that was not up to par. We do say that there is a short drive to the beach. Comparatively, if this lovely 4 bedroom home was ON the beach it would be double the nightly rate. It is an incredible value for the price and very popular. Everyone loves the house, even with a small kitchen, since most people on vacation are not spending a lot of time in the kitchen. There is a coastline view and it is shown in the photographs, what you see is what you get. The trash pick up is on Thursdays, and it looks like you arrived a couple of days before. Also, we have repair people to call if the ceiling fan wasn't working or the blinds. We would have been happy to taken care of it, had you called us about it. You say it is a very remote location....well I guess you could say that the Big Island is a remote location. All homes in this neighborhood are on 2 to 5 acre parcels, yet there are neighbors on either side of this house within 100 feet of the house on one side and probably 150 feet on the other side. We feel the house is in a tremendous location and a great deal!

Wow, did we have a great time at Hale Wailele! From morning coffee under the Banyan Tree, to glorious sunsets on the patio, to stargazing late at night, this house had it all, all day long. We enjoyed the beaches 10 minutes away, and then climbed back up 2000 feet to the cool comfort of the hills. One day of rain equals 2 days of waterfall...incredible! This house is an antidote to the sterile condos down the hill. By the time we left, we felt like part of the community. Neighbourhood walks introduced us to long time residents who shared the history of the area with us. Waimea markets and festivals added to the appeal. Try the Redwater Cafe for unpretentious yet incredible local food and music. Thanks to AlohaDebbie for making it all so easy.

It is so serene! Away from it all! Breathtaking view! Just 20 minutes to Kealakekua Bay which is a sacred and beautiful place. We are privileged to enjoy it and share it with others. It is one of the main reasons we choose to purchase in South Kona. This sweet pocket of historical importance, unmatched snorkeling, and onshore adventure is the most protected deep water bay in all of Hawaii. The rugged pahoehoe lava and land surrounding Kealakekua Bay include the old Hawaiian royal village Ka’awaloa where Captain Cook met his end. The Bay’s marine life sanctuary is one of the world’s top snorkeling spots. Its pristine waters and underwater diversity including fish and coral make it a breathe-taking experience. A local pod of Hawaiian spinner dolphins is often found resting and playing in the bay. It’s not uncommon to see whales, manta rays, spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, and more. We recommend exploring Kealakekua Bay and Hookena Bay by kayak or stand up paddle board to soak in the turquoise waters, sea life and unique history!
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
20 minutes to the quaint and charming town of Kanaliu which offers shopping, dining, coffee shops, art galleries, gelato and all kinds of fun things!
