  This beachfront condo may well be 1 of the best we ever stayed in! Luxurious, very clean, well appointed & very friendly owners, who responded quickly to every question we had which made the reservationprocess very easy. The condo itself is located in the Lodge-building of the Inn of the Sea-complex, which you'll find in the quiet seaside neighbourhood of Ladysmith (a 15 minute drive) &,about a 30 minutes from Nanaimo. Upon arrival we were greeted by Patricia, who took us straight to the condo where a welcoming-tray with food & wine was waiting for us! The moment you step into this condo you'll be addicted to the beautiful oceanview! The condo is extremely well appointed and you'll find that everything you'll need for a short or longer stay is provided. That means comfortable beds & furniture, huge tv, (gas) fireplace, wonderful kitchen, 2 bathrooms with all the towels you'll need & even bathrobes ... There is light coloured carpeting throughout the condo, but it's easy to keep this pristine by taking off your shoes upon entering! The sunny balcony is absolutely marvelous with modern, comfortable chairs (even blankets are provided for cooler evenings!) and ofcourse the amazing view. You'll be able to sit there rain or shine as the neighbouring eagles provide entertainment. This place is exactly as shown in the pictures (maybe even better)! For those who want to be active: there's kayaking (rental or guided) in Ladysmith, whalewatching (recommended) from Cowichan Bay, shopping in Nanaimo, the totem-poles in Duncan & the murals in Chaimanus .. or you can just sit on the balcony & relax! Keep in mind that not all IotS-condos have unobstructed views, but this one has! The pool in front of the Lodge-building just adds to the (tropical) resort-feeling! Our only regret is that we stayed here for just 2 nights .. we sure hope to visit again in the near future.

• Getaway

  This was our fourth stay at the Inn of the Sea and our third at Scott and Patricia's unit at the Lodge. As usual, the view was tremendous and despite the overcast and rainy weather (we knew it would be), we had a great time. We expect to come back next summer and likely November as well. Thanks again guys!

  Excellent location.Beautiful view fom balcony, living room, kitchen and both bedrooms and not to mention a beautifully decorated condo. Went with entire family which includes two young children ages 1 and 2 yrs and they had a great time using the pool, beach combing, playing in the park and wandering the grounds, we were also able to take a couple day trips to Coombs,Rathrevor Beach and Naniamo. We plan on returning!

  I can't say enough great things about this rental, but I am going to try! The location is wonderful, a quite oasis with views of the water and forest. We kept seeing bald eagles fly overhead and when you sat on the couch it felt like you were surrounded by water on all sides, very relaxing. The owners have thought of everything you could need in terms of amenities. The kitchen is fully stocked and my family, who loves to cook, found every utensil we needed including ones you normally don’t see like a French press and a pizza stone! They had binoculars for looking out the windows, blankets draped over the chairs on the balcony so you could sit outside and watch the sunset, pool toys, DVDs, a surround sound stereo and flat screen TV, board games, a crab catching basket and more. There is a fireplace inside for cold nights and the decor is beautiful! The owners Patricia and Scott welcomed us, showed us around and gave us great suggestions for restaurants and activities and then gave us our space to enjoy the trip. My family is definitely looking to book a return trip.

  The homeaway.com photos immediately intrigued me for this wonderful condo, but being there in person was the true treat! Scott and Patricia are gracious hosts and have equipped this beautiful condo with everything you need for a week or weekend or the perfect getaway! My husband and I were warmly greeted by Patricia with wine, cheese, bread and fruit. She gave us a great tour of the property and I almost wish she had stayed. She is really fun! But the best part of this beautiful place is the scenery and the comfort of feeling like we were in our own place for a couple nights! We left the window open to hear the crashing waves. We sat on the patio speechless for hours just watching the blue herons and the eagles and the gulls and the occasional people passing by. It is quiet and serene and we look forward to coming back! The Island has much of offer - from Victoria to Nanaimo to Tofino ... all of it gorgeous and the people friendly! Please consider staying here. You won't regret it! Thanks Scott and Patricia for letting us stay at your gorgeous place on the bay!

  My husband and I wanted to do a last minute getaway and stumbled across this gem. We were welcomed by Pat with a bottle of wine and cheese tray which was so thoughtful as we were hungry and tired, having gotten up early and taken the ferry over to the island. We really needed a place to stay where we could find some peace and quiet, relax and just enjoy the sounds and smell of the ocean and our expectations were far exceeded. What a beautiful serene place. We enjoyed the hot tub, walking around the property, reading a book by the window and watching the waves go in and out. Everything you need is provided, they even have a herb garden which I really enjoyed using and the beds are super comfy. We cannot wait to come back.

  We had a wonderful stay at this condo. We've travelled extensively and this condo is in the top 10% in terms of decoration and thoughtful extra luxury touches throughout the condo. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the amenities you can possibly need in high quality pots, pans, dishes, cutlery and glassware. The views were wonderful and the patio furniture made for the perfect setting for our nightly cocktails and conversation. An especially nice touch was the refreshments that greet you upon your arrival. We would absolutely come back. Thank you Scott and Patricia!

• Our first trip to Vancouver Island

  We decided to take a break from Hawaii's warm weather and visit Vancouver Island, BC. Scott met us at the condo with a bottle of wine and a cheese and fruit plate. The condo was beautifully decorated and equipped with every conceivable cooking device and appliance- It exceeded our expectations. Scott gave us some tips on harvesting the clams (beach) and oysters (rocks) directly in front of the condo. On low tide we loaded-up on both and enjoyed steamed clams, clams linguini, and raw oysters on the half shell. We visited Buchard Gardens and the Empress Hotel in Victoria, hiked on some scenic trails on the Eastern side of the island, and visited a couple of the local pubs. In the morning it was hard to pull ourselves away from the condo and all the wildlife (ducks, loons, river otters, etc.) frolicking in the bay below.

  This is a lovely place to stay. The condo is luxurious, the location peaceful and the setting beautiful. Our hosts were generous in their welcome and we would heartily recommend The Lodge to anyone wanting to visit the area.

  We had the extreme pleasure of staying at Patricia and Scott's condo. What a magical place. The location could not have been better. Waking up in the morning with the ocean alongside the master bedroom and then spending the day gazing out at the unobstructed views. It took me an hour to jealously wander about the condo in awe of all of the perfect details. Everything was though of - you could easily host a dinner party for 8 here and not be missing a thing. We have stayed at the most exclusive resorts on the Island, but never have we felt as if we were truly coming "home" when we returned to our suite, like we did here. We have adopted the condo, and I have adopted the perfectly situated chaise lounge for hours of reading and gazing. It is dead quiet, with lots to observe in the ocean... that bay is always changing. We did a short (6km) hike nearby and strolled on the beach. Dug up and steamed clams as well as shucked oysters off the beach and pan fried them. Cannot wait to return! Thanks Patricia and Scott!
