Honeymoon on Emerald Bay
Honeymoon on Emerald Bay
The Emerald Bay Inn was the perfect honeymoon spot! So private and quiet, and the most amazing views we have ever had. We arrived after a very long day of traveling from Denver, the day after our wedding. Patricia met us with cheese, bread, grapes, and wine- and we enjoyed it the whole trip! The home was extremely clean and comfortable. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the porch, relaxing in the hot tub, venturing into the towns, watching movies, and trying out some nearby suggested restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed to make some great dinners with fresh seafood! During the days, we went kayaking and hiking, and did a little shopping. It was great returning in the evenings to our quiet little home to spend time together and relax after the previous crazy few weeks! We are definitely recommending the Emerald Bay Inn to our family and friends, and can't wait for a second trip to British Columbia!

A corner in paradise
Our stay was beyond our expectations. Scott and Patricia were excellent to work with while setting up outr trip and when we arrived at the condo. Scott's directions were right on the money and Patricia's suggestions for things to do and restaurants fit us perfectly. Patricia made us feel welcome and at home. The condo is equipped with everything you need; it is immaculate and the views are beyond description. This was our first experience with VRBO; it will be hard to top.

Owner response: September can be such a great month to experience the island. Always happy to hear you had a wonderful holiday. Please visit us again any time of the year. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers, Patricia and Scott
After reading the reviews, our family decided to book our summer holiday here. I will try to keep my review be as brief as possible and try not to miss anything: - The Location: Is close to the Duke Point Ferry Terminal (Approx. 17 Minutes) and the instructions given to get there were very clear and concise. - The Grounds: Are nicely wooded, beautifully landscaped, and are tended to on a daily basis. There is a well-kept pool, tennis courts, a child's playground, an oceanside fire pit area, a dock, and a NICE pet area complete with poop bags. - The Unit: Is breathtakingly beautiful! The ocean views are truly amazing. It is a corner unit situated on the second floor overlooking the pool and the bay. There are unobstructed views on two sides and from every room in the house (except the bathrooms)! It is very nicely decorated, and well stocked with everything you could possibly want. - The Owners: Patricia and Scott are very welcoming, and perhaps this was my favourite part of the holiday. They made us feel so at home. They took the time to outfit the unit in advance to accommodate our family and pets. Patricia welcomed us in the parking lot and took us up to the unit where she had an amazing cheese, grape, and baguette platter not to mention bottle of wine waiting for us. Knowing that we were travelling with dogs, she had a dog bed ready for the dogs as well as food bowls complete with dog bones for them upon their arrival. She had many amenities for the kids including, games, DVD's, kites, pool noodles, life jackets, a crab trap, and so much more. There was not one thing more we could have wanted. - Cons: There is only one potential downside, you must share common BBQ's. There are at least three on site, and they are NICE BBQ's, each with an area for the family to sit and eat. This is only a problem if you plan a scheduled meal time and they are already in use. This being said, we did NOT experience this problem, but found it a little inconvenient to take our food out of the building to cook. - Summary: There is truly something for everyone here. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I was sad to leave. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to everyone. Patricia truly made our stay very special. She is a very special lady who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Thank you Patricia and Scott.

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo
Beautiful Oceanfront Condo
We stayed in this condo for 10 days with our two young girls. We loved being here! The condo was decorated beautifully, and the owners give great care and attention to welcoming you and making sure you have all you need. The unit is in an absolutely amazing location. Situated right by the pool, and looking directly onto the ocean and beach, when the tide came in we felt like we were right on the water - breathtaking views! It was fun to walk the beach, swim the pool or play at the little play structure set up at the complex. The unit has everything you need to cook, enjoy a refreshing drink, relax on the deck, and be comfortable as you enjoy an island holiday. Thank you for letting us stay here!

So Beautiful I Cried A Little When I First Entered!
So Beautiful I Cried A Little When I First Entered!
My husband and have stayed in a number of places found via VRBO. But none of them hold a candle to this SPECTACULAR condo. From the moment Patricia opened the door to let us in, we truly felt like we had died and gone to heaven. The views are spectacular from every room. Each night, we slept with the windows open so that we could hear the birds and the gentle waves lapping the shore line during high tides. I want to list all of the positives about this place so here goes: the place was so clean I felt like I could eat off the floor; the kitchen is so well appointed--anything you need, it's there; the bedding was so amazingly comfortable that it made me hate what I have at home (I am now on the search for the same high end bedding!); the wine plus cheese/bread platter that Patrice offered as a welcome was so unexpected, and truly wonderful; the fire pit near the beach was also an unexpected treat--we used it twice and it made us feel like we were camping--until we re-entered our luxurious condo afterwards; and the boat dock was a wonderful place to have our initial evening cocktail, while watching the wild life, including the bald eagle, and what we think were harbor seals. I could go on and on but I think you get what I am trying to say. This is a truly wonderful place to stay, and you can bet that we'll be back, but next time with friends--this is a treasure to be shared! If you want true luxury, combined with spectacular views, and nature, this is your spot! =)

WOW, what a find!
WOW, what a find!
This beachfront condo may well be 1 of the best we ever stayed in! Luxurious, very clean, well appointed & very friendly owners, who responded quickly to every question we had which made the reservationprocess very easy. The condo itself is located in the Lodge-building of the Inn of the Sea-complex, which you'll find in the quiet seaside neighbourhood of Ladysmith (a 15 minute drive) &,about a 30 minutes from Nanaimo. Upon arrival we were greeted by Patricia, who took us straight to the condo where a welcoming-tray with food & wine was waiting for us! The moment you step into this condo you'll be addicted to the beautiful oceanview! The condo is extremely well appointed and you'll find that everything you'll need for a short or longer stay is provided. That means comfortable beds & furniture, huge tv, (gas) fireplace, wonderful kitchen, 2 bathrooms with all the towels you'll need & even bathrobes ... There is light coloured carpeting throughout the condo, but it's easy to keep this pristine by taking off your shoes upon entering! The sunny balcony is absolutely marvelous with modern, comfortable chairs (even blankets are provided for cooler evenings!) and ofcourse the amazing view. You'll be able to sit there rain or shine as the neighbouring eagles provide entertainment. This place is exactly as shown in the pictures (maybe even better)! For those who want to be active: there's kayaking (rental or guided) in Ladysmith, whalewatching (recommended) from Cowichan Bay, shopping in Nanaimo, the totem-poles in Duncan & the murals in Chaimanus .. or you can just sit on the balcony & relax! Keep in mind that not all IotS-condos have unobstructed views, but this one has! The pool in front of the Lodge-building just adds to the (tropical) resort-feeling! Our only regret is that we stayed here for just 2 nights .. we sure hope to visit again in the near future.

Owner response: Fantastic! we are both extremely happy you both enjoyed your stay. Its great to have travelers coming from Europe to see our vast country and especially the Island. It was a pleasure to have you both take in our special spot on the bay. Hope to see you next year! Have a wonderful summer. Cheers!
This was our fourth stay at the Inn of the Sea and our third at Scott and Patricia's unit at the Lodge. As usual, the view was tremendous and despite the overcast and rainy weather (we knew it would be), we had a great time. We expect to come back next summer and likely November as well. Thanks again guys!

Owner response: Thanks for your nice comment. We are always happy to see that our guests are having a great holiday, enjoying our beautiful Island Paradise. Hope to see you soon.
I can't say enough great things about this rental, but I am going to try! The location is wonderful, a quite oasis with views of the water and forest. We kept seeing bald eagles fly overhead and when you sat on the couch it felt like you were surrounded by water on all sides, very relaxing. The owners have thought of everything you could need in terms of amenities. The kitchen is fully stocked and my family, who loves to cook, found every utensil we needed including ones you normally don’t see like a French press and a pizza stone! They had binoculars for looking out the windows, blankets draped over the chairs on the balcony so you could sit outside and watch the sunset, pool toys, DVDs, a surround sound stereo and flat screen TV, board games, a crab catching basket and more. There is a fireplace inside for cold nights and the decor is beautiful! The owners Patricia and Scott welcomed us, showed us around and gave us great suggestions for restaurants and activities and then gave us our space to enjoy the trip. My family is definitely looking to book a return trip.

About the owner: We always enjoy meeting new people and helping them experience our pristine, natural West Coast Islands. We both can`t wait to get outside and explore our very own natures playground. Every day is another adventure when you live on the coast and especially in Yellow Point. We are so lucky to live on one of the most picturesque islands in B.C. The people who live here are always so helpful and friendly. It is always a special treat for us to infuse ourselves in luxurious comfort when we are fortunate enough to wake up to the surf breaking on the beach right below our own bedroom.
Why the Owner Chose Nanaimo:
We love the Ocean, it is so full of life! Our condo is nestled right on the waters edge. I cannot say enough about our spectacular ocean view from every room. Our peaceful resort is the perfect place to relax and let those island winds blow your troubles away. The climate in Yellow Point is one of the best on our west coast. It has the tradition of having the least rain and warmest temperatures on the island. It is always stunning, whether it is sunny and hot or brisk and stormy. The local area is close to farm markets, an old english style pub, fine restaurants, artist shops and a beautiful lake. Yellow Point is not far from the city but situated in the heart of the country. Truly a diamond in the rough.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We love having fun, so this is the perfect place for us. Swimming in the pool, relaxing in the spa, kayaking the shorelines, exploring the islands, and fishing our secret spots are just some of the fun things we do. We sometimes like relaxing in our deck chairs gazing out at the Ocean, sipping our favorite beverages and munching on some freshly caught crab. Prying a few fresh oysters off the rocks and throwing them on the barbie is always a pleasant and tasty treat. Taking in everything that we have to offer is definetly why we are here.
