In total, La Casa Baku offers six spectacular private, guesthouses ideal for 2 persons each, or travel with friends or family for ideal accommodations up to 8 persons. The guesthouse at Baku, which means a place of tranquility and serenity, is meticulously designed and luxuriously appointed with the simple elegance of days gone by. You’ll find many of the interior appointments hand-crafted from natural materials like pebble designs, hand painted Talavera tiles, hand hammered copper sinks, rustic stone marble from the Yucatan, bamboo crafted doors and thatched roofs from palm fronds (palapas). The mosquito netting adds a whimsical, romantic flair of days gone by. The natural beauty of the outside environment touches your inside living space with endless views of the bay, mountains, beach and gardens. We've always wanted to live on the beach; came to Puerto Vallarta for vacation, fell in love with the people, culture & customs and began searching for property to buy. We settled on property in La Cruz in 1998 and moved here full time in February 2001.
We started the guesthouse business in 2004; it just evolved and took on a life of it's own. We now expanded it 6 guesthouses.

My husband and I traveled with another couple and spent one fantastic week at Casa Baku. The internet listing is quite accurate....as a matter of fact, we were pleasantly surprised that this vacation home surpassed every expectation we had! From the beautiful landscaping, to the wonderful and comfortable furnishings, to the location and view and all the extra touches (i.e. kitchen appliances, bottled water, soft and luxurious bathroom towels, well-maintained pool, daily maid service, etc.), carefully and lovingly provided by the warm and welcoming owners!! The property was gated and locked, which provided alot of privacy and, from the minute we arrived to the minute we left we felt safe and completely relaxed under the warm sun and gentle Mexican breezes coming off Banderas Bay. We enjoyed wonderful, quality restaurants, five of which are within easy walking distance of Casa Baku. Paying a small fee for a "meet and greet" service providing transportation to and from the airport, made our vacation begin the moment we stepped off the plane! My husband and I have been traveling for the last 10 years and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Baku. We are planning a return to this hidden treasure as soon as we can arrange it, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who values quality, privacy and casual elegance!

This past February marked our 6th year at Casa Baku. We have three weeks’ vacation each year and going to Casa Baku in the town of La Cruz Huanacaxtle takes that time and turns it into something that transcends an ordinary vacation. From the first time we met Marianne and Mike and from the first night we spent in La Cruz, we felt like we had come home. The views of the beach and the ocean are mesmerizing, tranquil and beautiful, all at the same time. Sometimes there are sail boats and fishing boats, sometimes sea birds and whales. And sometimes, there is nothing at all but the sparkle of the waves as the sun hits the water. Each year, there are subtle changes in the town that remind us that time never stands still no matter where you are, but at least in La Cruz Huanacaxtle, it does not move as quickly as it tends to everywhere else. While you can feel a thousand miles away when cocooned in the lovely little garden oasis that Marianne and Mike have created, stepping outside the door leads to a whole new place of discovery. Any regular visitor to the town of La Cruz will have their favourites…the best tacos, the coldest beer, the freshest seafood, the friendliest restaurant staff, the best live music…In a town where every experience is unique arguing the best of the best it can make for lively debate. The point is, you can never go wrong…. Taxis are in expensive and can easily take you to Sayulita or Bucerias or Puerto Vallarta, but do not miss the opportunity to take the local busses. At $2 to $3 it is an experience not to be missed. Or take a walk to Bucerias along the beach (we’ve done it in an hour, but count on an hour and a half deepening on the tide) This walk never ceases to hold new charm and new discovery each time we do it. At least one trip into Vallarta adds to the vacation experience, but personally, we have found that it holds less appeal each year and always head back to La Cruz with the content feeling of heading ‘back home’ This feeling is intensified in the evenings, as you look and see the lights from town come on slowly, across the bay. There is a warm and cozy feeling knowing that while everyone else is over there, you are the lucky ones at Casa Baku. Whether it’s starting your morning sipping a freshly brewed cup of the fabulous coffee that Marianne provides and watching the sun come up, or ending the day with a glass of wine and listening to the waves, there is no better place

This place is truly a Gem!! Marianne and Mike have created an amazing gift for their guests. We have travelled all over the world and this Oasis is a must for those travellers wanting a special place. The beautiful lodging and location within a lovely and lively integrated Mexican town, make this place one of the most memorable vacations we've had. Wonderful! We spent a week (Jan 2007) in the upstairs guest house. It's light, bright, and beautiful. You feel as if you're sleeping in a tropical treehouse with a view of the ocean. Mike & Marianne are wonderful hosts. Great place to RELAX. Gardens are spectacular. Lots of restaurants within walking distance for delicious food. Terrific place for whale watching.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Casa Baku and the surrounding area. Our hosts Marianne and Mike are delightful and fun people. Having been the first guests at Casa Baku several years ago, we were amazed at the gardens and how lovely everything looks. Lots of hard work by these two super people. We heartily recommend a visit.

What you don't get from the pictures and descriptions is the sense of warm energy and sense of belonging that Marianne and Mike have created. We would take this life over life at a resort any time. The meals that Maria prepared and allowed me to help with were just excellent and I've fixed Mexican flan since returning home. Don't forget to try the Saturday night tacos on the street. What a fun treat! Check the calendar for lectures at Phil's. The Cafe Sabruso is a must for breakfast.

My husband and I needed some time away and to ourselves......... that is just what we got. Lying there listening to the waves my husband was so relaxed that he could not figure outwhat was wrong with him...... Took him to Mexico one other time... he hated it. Now he is still talking about going back and just loved the place and the hospitality. Romantic.... It was the most ulitmate romantic experience...... Marianne was so helpful with assiting me in setting up surprises for my husband. I will be a return vacationer, I hope for many years to come
