Trout Creek, MT- In a remote valley in Northwest Montana visitors will find the Hobbit House of Montana. More than a bed to sleep in and a stove to cook on, the Hobbit House of Montana offers visitors a luxury lodging experience full of imagination, magic and yes, a truly unique retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Surrounding the hobbit home is a village that comes to life at night with the magical display of lights from the cavalcade of mushrooms that line Hobbit Lane to the lighted mural of a whole Hobbit Village. The excitement is heightened when these fairy structures begin to light up one after the other at dusk. If you are really lucky...and quiet, you may see the shadow of Bilbo Baggins or catch a glimpse of him at home as he likes to stay up night drinking ale and entertaining his friends from The Shire.
And since hobbits like to eat at least six times a day, the owners have made it a point to share a special treat with each guest upon their arrival- a very large and distinctive Trollhouse cookie made with special fairy dust and hobbit ingredients! They also made sure that the kitchen is well equipped including a barbeque grill located on the deck outside the Hobbit House. The entire Hobbit Village overlooks their scenic Whitepine Alpaca Ranch which boasts an old fashioned, red barn built in 1918 and a pond that brings in a myriad of waterfowl including Baldwin the resident Bald Eagle, blue herons and many diving osprey who dine on the Cutthroat trout living in the pond. Guests might also see deer, elk, and moose swimming in the pond, coyotes, and mountain lions along with the occasional bear or wolf.
The 1,000 square foot guest cottage comes complete with one king bedroom and a very small, hobbit guest bedroom. It has XM Radio, HD-Satellite flat screen TV with a Blu-Ray CD player with a library of books and CDs. There’s even a wood burning stove for those rare chilly nights; however the cottage stays a constant 55 degrees because it’s entirely underground. Phone service is available as there is NO cell service in and among Whitepine Shire.
The Hobbit House of Montana is available for rental for $245 per night with a two night minimum on weekends and holidays and must be guaranteed with a major credit card. Because of the intimate details and hand crafted displays, no pets nor children are allowed. Advance reservations are required.
Enjoy the unique features of this Hobbit Land vacation, with an added twist of imagery and sophistication. The enchantment is almost spiritual and unlike anything you have ever seen before. The experiences could be Hobbit Forming.

When we saw the Hobbit House online we knew we would make every effort to stay there! We were not disappointed. The beautiful setting in the mountains is breathtaking and the creation of the Hobbit House and surrounding Shire is outstanding! Every detail from the artistic creations to the comforts of the home were over the top! What a wonderful place to unwind and renew oneself. Thank you Steve & Chris for an unforgettable trip!Owner response: Pam, Thank you for your kind words. We are always trying to improve the Shire... this year with Elven Village, 3 new Elf Houses and a couple more Hobbit Houses. People have stated how quite and spiritual the entire enchanted village seems to be. We again thank you for your stay and remember... This could be "Hobbit Forming"!

This is a charming, secluded 5 star retreat:) A whimsical place set in the most stunning of nature settings. It brought me back to childhood and all the imagination that goes with that time and place. The attention to detail is so appreciated and the love that this property was made with is present everywhere you look. The Evenings are magical with the shire all lit up! We were so comfortable and will be back again and again..... PLEASE TREAT YOURSELF TO THIS GETAWAY!! :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I printed out your review for Bilbo to see (he doesn't own a computer) and he was very pleased that you had a good time. Thank you for coming and sharing our little piece of heaven.

Steve and Chris, Your guest house and imagination will stay with me forever. Not only is the stay extremely special as one sleeps with one eye open so as not to miss a fairy, but the wildlife is incredible. Truly a place to forget the daily routine and fall into a magical state of mind. Thank you thank you thank you! Will visit again for sure! Once I was inside your eco-structure, I felt like royalty. Not a Trolls hair in sight!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Just a note to say "Thank You" so much! Jack and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening in your wonderful Hobbit House and I hope to send many more your way. You were such the gracious host! I've brought my "Troll house cookie" to work with me today...very yummy! LOVE the label and being a card maker, loved the card "hobbit forming" great touch. Also, loved the Montana Company tea that came with the room. I've already gone online and ordered some of the Night on Glacier Bay, loved it!! You had a very nice supply of amenities. The accommodations were FIRST CLASS... Five Star I'd say!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

About the owner: Steve & Chris Michaels are owners of the Shire and share their special place with Trolls, Hobbits, Elves and Fairies.
Why the Owner Chose Thompson Falls:
Whitepine Shire has always been a special place visited by Ravens and Wizards so the idea of a Hobbit House was only natural.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
While visiting the Shire you are able to take some wildlife photo right out your front door due to the Michaels 2 acre pond which attracts bald eagles, herons and osprey who come in to dine on the many cutthroat trout. You are also able to sit along the River Shire and listen to the babbling brook, visit with Bilbo at his home or visit the many occupants of the Shire to share this magical experience like nothing else in the world.
