Casa Rica was perfect honeymoon spot. Wife and I can be schizo vacationers, very hard to please--we want to be able to surf and have a night out, but also cook and laze around. This place had all bases covered. Sharon and Mac are perfect hosts, and clearly love this house and its lush grounds. The town, Ojochal, has loads of nice restaurants and is surrounded by nice beaches and hikes. Stay at Casa Rica.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed at both Casa Rica and Casa Tika during our stay in Costa Rica and we truly felt that Mac and Sharon’s beautiful properties were the simply magical. The gardens are breathtaking; they have created a Balinese jungle Eden located in a small quaint French-Canadian town called Ojochal, pronounced Ohochal. The general atmosphere is peaceful and positive and if you have a chance, I highly recommend getting a massage at the Spa. Sharon is one of the best masseuses I have ever been to! The plunge pool was my husband’s favorite place to be and it was really nice to be able to take a dip during the day. And we especially liked taking relaxing walks and meditating in the various reflection spots located on trails running throughout the property. The property also has lots of yummy things to eat fresh from their garden: We ate their fresh bananas daily, fresh eggs from their happy chickens, and fresh coconut water – all we needed to do is ask their wonderful gardener Minor to cut down the coconuts for us. There are many restaurant options to eat at in a variety of price ranges – all within walking distance (longest 15-20 minutes) with much to experience and see surrounding Ojochal. Both Mac and Sharon are the loveliest hosts making us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. They really have figured out the perfect way balancing being very helpful while never overstepping on their guest’s privacy. We will definitely be going back to Costa Rica and we plan to come back to the Casa Rica or Casa Tika again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

We were so impressed with Costa Rica in general and Sharon and Mac as hosts that when we wanted to travel somewhere it was easy to decide to make a second visit to Casa Rica. In the year since our first visit they have added a second guest cottage that will be great when we travel with friends in the future. All the things we enjoyed so much on our first visit were even better since we were familiar with the area. There is plenty to do, the property is conveniently located and it has everything you could need. We highly recommend this property as well as Sharon and Mac as very accomodating and friendly hosts. We look forward to going again in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a beautiful cabin with eastern influence and artistic touches. Clean, comfortable, and wonderful hosts who go the extra mile to make your vacation in the Central Coast of Costa Rica extra special by providing a phone and internet card. We especially enjoyed the "refreshing pool" at Casa Rica and the sweet scent of the Ylang Ylang tree that met us at dusk every evening. Great restaurants and tours available in the area. We recommend those leaving from Sierpe on gthe Osa Penninsula - where you can snorkel and see animals and birds galore.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed out 10 stay along with the many day trips to the surrounding area which offers something for everyone. Chill out in the plunge pool or relax on the porch in one of the comfortable chairs. The kitchen was appointed well enough to prepare simple meals. The bed was comfortable and the house was very clean and inviting with natural wood finishes. Mac and Sharon were great hosts and offered as much information as a person wanted but did not intrude on our space. They were out of town when we landed, but had made arrangements for us to be met by a lovely person who saw that we we settled in. The grounds keeper was charming and brought us fresh fruit and fresh cut coconuts. What a treat! Sharon made sure our needs were met and brought a IPod docking station as promised per earlier emails. Be sure to try to take the time to visit one of the many waterfalls in the area surrounding Ojachal. I can recommend staying here and plan to do so again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

My week long stay at Casa Rica couldn't have been more relaxing and fun at the same time. The Balinesian style "casita" is cozy and completely comfortable with a full kitchen and spacious bath. The plunge pool is great after an afternoon of nearby beach or zipline adventures and the gazebo is heavenly. What a great place to sit outdoors, surrounded by the beautiful plantings, watching and listening to the many tropical birds, and seeing the mountains off in the distance. And the Palm Spa right on the premises! Massage, facials, herbal outside bath--I'm ready to go back to this property! Oh, can't forget the wide choice of top quality restaurants just minutes away! The whole place is a little Paradise.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A paradise nest great for re-centering and two of the most gracious and welcoming hosts. Not only is Casa Rica so close to great beaches like Ventanas and Uvita (where even a beginner can learn to surf), plenty of restaurants with an array of cuisines, and friendly Ticos, but Casa Rica itself is securely nestled on a beautiful property. You can enjoy the view of the humbling mountains from the gazebo bed and “veg out”, or stroll though the serene trails on the grounds and admire luscious greenery, vibrant flowers, and all kinds of insects. And let’s not forget the shower which feels so good after a day out and about or at the beach catching waves. Casa Rica is well equipped and comfortable. The Bali style of the house emits a paradise quality all on its own. Though you should always keep your wits about you when visiting a foreign country, staying at Casa Rica makes it feel much safer. We utilized the kitchen for all of our breakfasts, some of our lunches and a couple of our dinners. It helps with the budget but not necessary if you don’t feel like cooking. But if you do take advantage of the kitchen, it is certainly well equipped and there’s a store in town stocked with food supplies. Sharon and Mac are so accommodating and an absolute pleasure to meet. They are very knowledgeable and can offer great tips to enjoying all the great things Costa Rica has to offer. Most definitely book a massage with Sharon…..you’ll be so glad you did. And if you can spare, do the Bush bath. It will take any lingering worries away. If you want to take a nice jump into a waterfall bigger than nearby Uvita’s, check out Don Lulo’s horseback riding tour to Nauyaca Waterfalls. It was our favorite tour and well worth the money with a yummy breakfast and lunch included. We sincerely look forward to returning to Casa Rica and seeing Sharon and Mac. Without these three key factors, Costa Rica wouldn’t have been one of our top favorite (if not THE favorite) on our ever-growing list of places to visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place is beautiful! The pictures are exactly what you get. You even get more! The cabin is on the same gated property as the owners and the gardeners house. Although being close enough for safety, you can't see the two other houses on property. The rich gardens give plenty of privacy and we did see many birds. The pool is great and also very private. Sharon's massage is definately worth going for, and her spa is great. Sharon and Mac are both very friendly and helpful, they want you happy! The town of Ojochal is also charming and has many good restaurants. The beaches are close and beautiful. Our only regret: we only had 5 nights! Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from a four week stay at this beautiful location. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we were very happy with our choice to stay near the town of Ojochal which was just off a main road. The town is small but has a surprising number of businesses including several excellent restaurants. The accomodations are exactly as presented but it is difficult to see how peaceful and beautiful it is from the pictures. We like that it is close to activities but very private. The meditation gazebo just next to the pool is a relaxing spot any time and has a mountain view that is impressive. Our favorite beach (Playa Ventanas) was nearby, beautiful, safe and never crowded. Mac and Sharon are respectful of privacy and were very helpful in pointing us to activities we were interested in as well as being close by if we needed anything. The front porch is a nice place to sit and look at the beautiful and well kept grounds as well as the many birds and butterflies that are attracted to the fruit trees. We were extremely pleased with our stay in every regard and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We loved this delightful, authentic Balinese casita in a beautifully landscaped tropical garden. The accommodations are very comfortable and peaceful. Mac and Sharon are wonderful hosts. This is a great base for exploring the fascinating expatriate community of Ojochal and the nearby beaches and mountains. A perfect getaway for a couple. We were there from June 11 through June 22 and would whole heartedly recommend this lovely Balinese cottage. Our hosts, Mac and Sharon, were perfect. Looked after our needs without ever intruding on our privacy. The gardens gave us a sense of total relaxation. Nearby were the fantastic restaurants Ojochal is famous for. Our favorite was Exotica, with Citrus a close second. While there we bought some property and we expect that we will be staying here while we build our own vacation home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
