When staying at Puu Poa (Pu`u Po`a) you will discover the rare beauty and peaceful sanctuary of the North Shore on the Garden Island of Kauai. Puu Poa in Princeville, on a cliff overlooking an incredible vista of the Pacific Ocean, is where you can watch turtles and other sea life right from your lanai. Beautiful Hawaiian landscaping to complement its unparalleled views surrounds this contemporary condominium community. You will thoroughly enjoy watching dolphins, sailboats, cruise ships and surfers from the comfort of your vacation home. During the winter months some of the best whale watching is done from the Princeville and Kilauea areas. Viewing the majestic 4,000 foot-high Waialale Mountains with rainbows and waterfalls is magical on the mauka (mountain) side of the property.
Puu Poa is one of Princeville`s most luxurious condo resorts in terms of unique architecture, spacious floor plans and an ideal location with maximum comfort and privacy. These 56 condos are situated on the ocean bluff next door to the beautiful five-star St. Regis Hotel that offers several outstanding dining options at one of their restaurants or visit their world-class spa.
Puu Poa has its own tennis courts, oceanfront swimming pool and hot tub, and the spectacular Hideaway`s Beach is a short trail walk below, hidden away. Hideaway`s Beach is one of Kauai`s best summertime snorkeling spots.
Princeville is home to 45 holes of world-class golfing within minutes of Puu Poa and has miles of walking and biking paths. There is also easy access to Puu Poa Beach on Hanalei Bay, in front of the St. Regis Hotel. Horseback riding, zip lining and guided hikes are available at nearby Princeville Ranch and polo matches are held, in season, at Anini Beach.
Hike the world famous Na Pali Coast as well as many other fantastic trails on Kauai. Take a kayak out of Hanalei Bay to paddle with the dolphins and turtles or paddle board or kayak on the Hanalei River. Enjoy some of the very best snorkeling on the island at Ke`e Beach. Explore the dry and wet caves, Hanalei Beach Park, Limahuli Botanical Garden and the excellent snorkeling and swimming at Tunnels Beach. Spend the day at Hanalei Bay, a perfect spot for swimming, lying on the beach and taking in some sun, having a picnic and fishing off the pier! Enjoy the stunning views at Kilauea Lighthouse and Nature Preserve, a beacon for sea traffic since 1913. It`s within a national wildlife refuge where thousands of seabirds soar on the tradewinds and nest on the steep ocean cliffs. See endangered Nene geese, white- and red-tailed tropicbirds, and more.
Narrow Limahuli Valley, with its fluted mountain peaks and ancient stone taro terraces, creates an unparalleled setting for this botanical garden and nature preserve. Dedicated to protecting native plants and unusual varieties of taro, it represents the principles of conservation and stewardship held by its founder, Charles 'Chipper' Wichman. Limahuli`s primordial beauty and strong mana (spiritual power) eclipse the extensive botanical collection. It`s one of the most gorgeous spots on Kauai and the crown jewel of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, which Wichman now heads.

Milion dollar view
We truly enjoyed our 11 night stay. Everything was as advertised. Actually, it exceeded our expectations. Lou at Great Vacation Retreats set us up, picked us up at the airport and took us to our car. Keala arranged some of our activities. Their service was exceptional. The condominium has a million dollar view from the 3 level common area. We were fantasizing about what it would take to buy it. The master is behind the lanai with the same spectacular view. Every morning before kicking off the day I would sit outside the sliding glass doors sipping my coffee while watching the Nene geese fly along the cliff. The kitchen is very large and stocked with all the gear we needed. Hideaways beach is a short hike below & we thought it had the best summer snorkeling of all the beaches we sampled. You are walking distance to the Queen's batch & the St. Regis. The walk way around Princeville is beautiful. We had a splendid time.

Kauai returnersGuest comment entered by manager
We have been to Kauai for over the past 5 years and usually stay two week. We have stayed in just about every accommodations from Grand Hyatt to beach house on Tunnels and Poi Pu. This condo may have been the best experience yet. We spent several days snorkeling at the beach right below the condo (hide aways) which we think is the best snorkel spot on theisland. The little sandy beach, and trees that provide you shade are an added treat. You are right next to Hanalai town where you can enjoy great food at Bar-a-cuda and Dolphins. Renting Kayaks and paddle boards is also real easy and super fun.

Had a blast!
My husband took me to to Kauai for my 30th Birthday and we had a blast! The Condo has the most amazing panoramic view of the ocean and sea shore. Every morning, and pretty much through out the whole day we saw at least 6 sea turtles. They were swimming around the coastline right outside our balcony. Over all we had an A++ experience and couldnt be happier with our choice of staying at the Poipu Shores Condo!

Great location and view. Kitchen well equipped, nice updated furniture. Issues: TV is old and need to be changed. Not many channels available. We noticed couple of cockroaches around everyday. Need serious spraying. Bed were not very comfortable but just OK. and of curse no air conditioning which in Princeville is mostly not a problem but at times is miserable. Overall I would go back there again but hope the issues be taken care of.

Perfect Location in PrincevilleGuest comment entered by manager
Perfect Location in Princeville
The Puu Poa's hightlight is its exceptional location in Princeville. Unit P113 could use a newer tv (flat screen) in the master bedroom and better lighting in the front room, but overall we recommend this apartment for its spaciousness and for being well stocked with everything a vacationer needs. We also appreciated the responsiveness of Great Vacation Retreats' personnel and would rent from this agency again.

Lovely, clean & spacious condoGuest comment entered by manager
Lovely, clean & spacious condo
Our family (2 adults, 9yr old and 6yr old) recently stayed in Unit 113. Condo location is great as it is near many of the beautiful North Shore beaches and the town of Hanalei. Condo is very spacious with loads of living area. Kitchen had all the basic amenities that you would need during your stay. The view is stellar although no sunsets from unit! This unit is in almost a separate building to the other units and faces away from the sunsets. We did really miss having a proper open deck/lanai in this unit. The lanai that this condo offers is right when you open the front doors and step into a covered open-air sitting area, with a door to the main part of the unit and sliding doors into the master bedroom. During our entire stay, we never used this outside area as it was dark and frankly a little uninviting with little to no view. Needless to say, it was not a place where you would really enjoy your cup of coffee in the morning. We instead did that from inside the unit with the patio doors wide open. If you have small children, this unit would not be ideal, as the patio doors open onto about 2 feet of grass space (barely enough to stand on), which ropes off to the cliff below. Our kids never just ran outside to play and to get to the pool, we had to leave via the front door, back up the stairs to the parking lot, travel all the way to the other end of the complex to enter the gated pool area. Would also have been nice to have a hot tub. Enjoy the pool in the morning, as the afternoon it is shady. The service from Great Vacation Rentals was wonderful and they were very helpful with anything you needed. We ended up renting beach chairs, boogie boards and a beach umbrella from them for the week as the unit had absolutely none of this equipment at our disposal. This was a nice, clean condo, but I think next time we will stay at the other units in the building facing the St. Regis.

About: Aloha~ Thank you for viewing my properties! My name is Amy Grant and I own a boutique vacation management company in Kauai called Great Vacation Retreats. I happily work and reside in Kauai and have been managing vacation rentals on the Garden Isle for almost 4 years. Been married to my husband, Scott, since 2003 and we have a beautiful little girl named Presley. When we aren't busy chasing her around, we enjoy going to the beach, cooking and traveling. I love working with my guests to find the perfect place for them to call home while on vacation. It can be overwhelming trying to pick out the right property -- I can help. My staff and I take great pride in the properties we manage and believe that we truly have some of the best properties the island has to offer. We have been in each property numerous times and stayed in most so that we can give you an accurate description of what each property's amenities are, distances to the beach, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We can also help you with any activities you might be interested in while on island such as surfing lessons, private boat charters, guided hikes, stand up paddling, personal chef, childcare and much more! Mahalo for looking :)
Why Puu Poa:
My husband and I were married at Kee Beach on the North Shore and visited the island several times after. We used to manage vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe and many of the owners also owned property in Kauai and asked if we would be interested in starting a business here. After a couple of years, we finally made the move and have been blissfully happy ever since. The island has so much natural beauty and outdoor activities, yet it still doesn't have that 'big resort' feel. It is a great, safe place for children and also makes for a perfect honeymoon or anniversary destination.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy here: going to the beach, surfing, stand up paddling, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, taking a boat charter along the Napali Coast, cayaking, camping, biking, etc.. I enjoy getting a spa treatment at the St. Regis Spa - if you enjoy the spa, the facial is perfect. My husband and I met at culinary school and consider ourselves 'foodies'. There are some wonderful farmers markets here and fish markets with the fresh local catches of the day. Ahi is of course an island favorite and can be found at many of the restaurants throughout the island. Whale watching is from December - March and is quite a site to see. Some of the best golf courses in the US are located in Kauai. We work with some activity providers that provide personalized hikes and activities that are 'off the beaten path' and truly show you what Kauai has to offer.
