Kuhio Shores is ocean front in beautiful Poipu on the Kauai`s South Shore. This is a location of magnificent sunsets, where you may watch surfers and sea turtles from your lanai or snorkel and surf at Lawai Beach right next door. Prince Kuhio Park is located across the street. Kuhio Shores is roughly a 5-minute walk from Baby Beach, a unique, quiet beach that`s fun for kids.
You`ll enjoy the sound of the ocean from every room in these vacation rentals. Cook dinner in the fully equipped kitchen and dine on the lanai or visit the
Beach House Restaurant next door for a Pacific Rim food experience with locally grown ingredients.
All of Kuhio Shores vacation condos are accessible by elevators and have easy access to free parking.
Not far down the road is Allerton Garden (L?wa`i Kai) managed by the National Tropical Botanical Gardens (NTBG). This garden paradise has been transformed via the hands of an Hawaiian Queen, a sugar plantation magnate and, most significantly, an artist and an architect. A series of garden rooms unfold between the L?wa`i Stream and the cliffs of the Valley. The sound of water is in abundance in pools, miniature waterfalls, and fountains. Towering rainforest trees with tall curving roots grow near bronze mermaids, a grove of swaying golden bamboo, a cut-flower garden, and tropical fruit trees. Here, the focus is on landscape design, but among the plantings are botanically important species of the tropics, including varieties of palms, ki (ti), heliconias, orchids, and gingers. Nearby, 252-acre McBride Garden, also managed by NTBG, has the largest collection of native Hawaiian plants in the world.
Across the road from the garden`s Visitors Center is Spouting Horn. This is where water from the waves shoot several stories into the air through a blow-hole in the lava rock. Souvenir shoppers can also hit the arts and crafts market in the park.
From Kuhio Shores, you can also walk to Kukui`ula Shopping Center within 15 minutes. There you will find a variety of shops and restaurants and the Wednesday afternoon Farmer`s Market.

We loved our stay at Kuhio Shores 416. The unit was clean, recently updated and comfortable. The only things that were needed were a new blender, as the one there had no blade! Also, extra pillowcases would have been nice, as I am a 3 pillow sleeper! Kauai is the best!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Had a wonderful time at Kuhio Shores. The condo was well designed and decorated and had wonderful views of the ocean. Watched the whales every evening while cooking dinner and the spectacular sunset views were amazing. Highly recommended for anyone who doesn't want the highly populated tourist areas to stay at.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As a business owner I appreciated Great Vactions branding; from the soap and shampoo pump bottles to the shopping bag of goodies that was left us. The folder of current local information was very useful. It was set in my mind that Great Vactions was taking care of us. Great job. Every interaction was sunshine; phone, email and in person. Kuhio Shores is the prfect location for these empty nesters. I don't believe this location would be suiting for young families. It took 4 minutes from the time we shut the condo door until we were snorkeling. It was a great relief to not have to figure out what to do with the key; loved the keyless entry. Whale, turtle, surfer and sunset watching from our lani was a true pleasure. Especially since it snowed 20 inches at home while we were in paradise. The unit had almost everything we needed. Had to buy a blender; don't know how to have fruity tropical drinks without one. The unit is clean and well supplied. Newer furniture and ammenities. Did not notice any street noice. Never heard noice from the Beach House either. Stayed at few condos where using the BBQ grills put your life in danger. Not here, they were clean and well maintained. The only complaint I can come up with was; not enough towels. Having to do laundry and pay $4 a load was somewhat frustrating and probably petty. We will be back and Kuhio Shores #416 and Great Vactions will be the first place we look.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a wonderful place to take our honeymoon. The condo was quiet and private and we loved sitting on the lanai watching the turtles, whales, fisherman and surfers. The condo was well furnished, except it desperately needs a non stick frying pan. We got a condo so we could eat in a lot and it was a challenge with just one small pan that everything stuck to. We did have some small bugs in the kitchen too. Not a lot, but still... Also, the front door keypad lock usually took 3 tries to open the door. But everything else more than made up for these little problems, it just would have been perfect perfect without them. The car was a fun treat too. We drove around most of the time with the top down. The condo location is ideal for couples who want privacy. I do wish the lanai was the full width of the condo. That west wall cuts the view quite a bit from the lanai and from the eating area inside. But it was private and there were not a lot of people walking around outside. We went to O'ahu after this. It just doesn't compare! We'll definitely try to make it back to Kaua'i. So peaceful and beautiful. Thanks for a wonderful trip!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at Kuhio Shores #416 in June. Condo was perfect for a couple. It was clean and comfortable and you can't get any closer to the ocean. We spent a lot of time on the lanai listing to the surf and watching the turtles, surfers and occasional pod of spinner dolphins. Kuhio Shores is a quite location. We never heard the traffic or clatter coming from the "Beach House". Condo was well stocked with the essentials and even had beach chairs, swim noodles and bamboo beach matt. Booked a Jeep rental with Lou at the same time as booking condo. Thanks to Lou for the personal service. The only negative is the electronic lock. It was nice not worrying about keys to the door but the electronic lock normally required several tries before it unlocked. We definately recommend this unit for two persons From Management: Because of your review, we have since replaced the lock!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay with you at Kuhio Shore was fabulous. The condo was just like the pictures showed. Watching the surfers and turtles from the lanai was wonderful. The beach next door was great for snorkeling. Having a car pick us up at the airport was a treat. The Beach House restaurant next door is a must but there are so many great choices to eat. We are already planning our next trip.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Great view of ocean, surfers and turtles. Accomodations were of average cleanliness. Ants in kitchen. Next time I would rent a place with a bit more of a resort feel, maybe some place with a pool... Had an elevator but no a/c. We rented a car separately at the airport. Would have liked some chairs to sit at out on the lawn. From the Management: Thanks for your review. Since your visit, we did a complete kitchen renovation, granite, nice cabinets, new appliances, bigger stove, etc...new carpet, new bed, flat screen tv, etc. Please come back!Did you find this review helpful? A little more finesse and this unit would be a real winner. We have rented condos all over the world. This condo: The location can't be beat. If we were any closer to the ocean we would be in it. Easy to get anywhere on the island from here. Best snorkeling on the island is right next door. Same for a great restaurant. Great Vacation Retreats provided very good supplies and did everything right. The owners of condo 416 - not so much. The condo didn't have much in the way of amenities and wasn't supplied well with things used in the kitchen. The TV is too small and hasn't enough sound to be heard over the waves. Living room needs more funiture and better seating. The master bedroom needs a window treatment that will let the air flow through at night but still provide privacy from the walkway outside the window. Just seemed like the owners were cheaping it. We would stay at Kahio Shores Condos again, just not in unit 416. From the Management: Thanks for your review. Since your visit, we did a complete kitchen renovation, granite, nice cabinets, new appliances, bigger stove, etc...new carpet, new bed, flat screen tv, etc. Please come back!Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
About the owner: Aloha~ Thank you for viewing my properties! My name is Amy Grant and I own a boutique vacation management company in Kauai called Great Vacation Retreats. I happily work and reside in Kauai and have been managing vacation rentals on the Garden Isle for almost 4 years. Been married to my husband, Scott, since 2003 and we have a beautiful little girl named Presley. When we aren't busy chasing her around, we enjoy going to the beach, cooking and traveling. I love working with my guests to find the perfect place for them to call home while on vacation. It can be overwhelming trying to pick out the right property -- I can help. My staff and I take great pride in the properties we manage and believe that we truly have some of the best properties the island has to offer. We have been in each property numerous times and stayed in most so that we can give you an accurate description of what each property's amenities are, distances to the beach, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We can also help you with any activities you might be interested in while on island such as surfing lessons, private boat charters, guided hikes, stand up paddling, personal chef, childcare and much more! Mahalo for looking :)
Why the Owner Chose Kuhio Shores:
My husband and I were married at Kee Beach on the North Shore and visited the island several times after. We used to manage vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe and many of the owners also owned property in Kauai and asked if we would be interested in starting a business here. After a couple of years, we finally made the move and have been blissfully happy ever since. The island has so much natural beauty and outdoor activities, yet it still doesn't have that 'big resort' feel. It is a great, safe place for children and also makes for a perfect honeymoon or anniversary destination.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy here -- going to the beach, surfing, stand up paddling, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, taking a boat charter along the Napali Coast, kayaking, camping, biking, etc.
I enjoy getting a spa treatment at the Anara Day Spa at the Hyatt. If you enjoy going to a spa, their facial is perfect.
My husband and I met at culinary school and consider ourselves 'foodies'. We love the Kilauea Bakery for a great cup of coffee and the bialys (stuffed bagels) are amazing. Some other restaurants that we enjoy are Josselins, the Kalaheo Café, Postcards, Roy’s, Tip Top Café and Kauai Pasta just to name a few. There are some wonderful farmers markets here and fish markets (Hanalei Dolphin is the best) with their fresh local catches of the day. Ahi is, of course, an island favorite and can be found at many of the restaurants throughout the island.
Whale watching is from December - March and is quite a sight to see.
Some of the best golf courses in the US are located in Kauai.
We work with some activity providers that provide personalized hikes and activities that are 'off the beaten path' and truly show you what Kauai has to offer.
