Pleasure Island at Club Everglades is paradise for the boating, fishing, hunting, and outdoor enthusiast! This private island oasis of single family, sportsmen inspired waterfront homes are designed reminiscent of Old Florida. Welcome to the 10,000 islands, world class fishing, and the stone crab capital of the world.
Offered turnkey furnished, this 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath, former model that sleeps six is prominently situated at the most desirable location at the southern most point of the island. Panoramic views from the front porch, including the famous Rod and Gun Club just across the Barron River, luxurious amenities, floating concrete docks (included in rental fee), clubhouse with 4 flat screen TV's, and wet bar, community pool with large deck perfect for lounging, full time Island caretaker and water taxi are waiting for you! This private island paradise is surrounded by the Everglades National Park and nestled in the 10,000 islands, a truly unique experience!
Our beautiful home situated on the southern most point of the island is the ONLY home that greets the Barron River during it's exceptional tidal flow. There is no better sight or sound than the Barron River at tidal crest. This extraordinary tidal flow brings with it an immense array of local and sometimes non local species of fish. Fishing is prevalent year round directly outside your front porch. There are also many photo opportunities for porpoise, manatees, sting rays, airboats, etc., which capture the local flavor of the island.

This idyllic waterman's paradise, is located on the southern point of Pleasure Island in the middle of the Barron River, a stone's throw from the shores of Everglades City (City is a misnomer; it is a village). The stilt house is a comfortable, new fishing lodge, with all the modern amenities. It is even better than the pictures would lead you to believe; it provides 180 degrees of water views and the sounds of the living Barron River are always there. We were very comfortable with the accommodations and were sorry we had to leave after our one week there. Next time we will stay longer! The owners were very helpful assisting us with our stay here, and made us feel at home. The island concierge, Wade and Gina, were very helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do, and always ready to provides us with water transportation. Besides the beautiful island home, the highlights of our stay included a successful day of fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands with a local guide and another day spent on one of those 10,000 islands with our own private beach, kayaks and fishing poles. We also made side trips into the Everglades National Park, including the Shark Valley tram and several boardwalks along the Tamiami Trail. We also really enjoyed the Smallwood Store in Chokoloskee which provides a glimpse into the days of the Everglades before roads. Don't miss out dining at the Camellia St Grill - great food, entertaining music, and rare & real atmosphere. We are seasoned travelers, boaters and fishermen and we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation here....one of our best ever!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I could not have said it better myself! This review states what we feel about our 'home away from home' in Everglades City. There are so many things to do and see and we are thrilled to entertain guests with such respect and admiration for our home and The Everglades and surrounding areas. Our goal is to make one feel at home and have a vacation to remember!

It would be difficult for me to accurately convey how much I love this place and this house. I found it through extensive research: I wanted to bring my family to Florida on Spring Break, but I wanted no chance of happening on a "Girls Gone Wild/Spring Break" scene. We stayed for a week here, coming from a week on Sanibel. I'm glad we vacationed in that order, as I would have been disappointed to end my vacation in Sanibel, after leaving Pleasure Island. Don't get me wrong, Sanibel is beautiful and dreamy- but Pleasure Island (and this house in particular) was exquisite and redolent of Southern charm and mystique. There is a quiet drama in just sitting peacefully on the screened porch or in a chair on shore, communing close up with the regal Barron River: the smells, the air, the wildlife, the glass and ripple of the water. The mood is both tropical and bayouesque. My guys fished all waking hours, mostly from the dock, but also the point and Western shore. There are monsters lurking in the deep, as well as a bounty of excellent edible fish. No shortage of action, we ate fish all different ways every night and day. I hardly left the island, although we had a wonderful time on the odd trip to the stores and over to Big Cypress to ogle alligators. The local folks are so nice and hospitable. Captain Wade, his wife Gina, and Pablo made sure that we wanted for nothing; they were so accommodating and pleasant. We really felt like we left some friends behind. Just a couple of the many points in the trip, via Wade: a trip to one of the little beachy islands and a back-country ride through the everglades! And the house, itself....! I left a piece of my heart there and will return as soon and as often as possible to visit it. The house is decorated in Angler theme. It's classy and welcoming, a really first-rate place to stay. As soon as we walked in, we knew we were home. My husband, son, and the friends we brought with us, all collectively smiled- we just knew it would be a great week (and that's an understatement). Mercy! I'm almost out of room. I spent my days lost in thought as I watched the river (never tired of it), or reading my book by the pool (I felt like the star of my own suntan commercial). Sometimes I watched a movie or checked in on the internet. It was always nice to just walk over and see how the guys were faring. Peaceful, fun, exciting... I'll sum up by saying that we all felt it was the best place we've vacationed- EVERRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: This review speaks volumes for how we feel about our Pleasure Island home, the location, surrounding area merchants, restaurants, the concierge, and all who help make Pleasure Island a wonderful vacation spot for all who visit. We can only hope all of our guests walk away with such satisfaction, and a genuine longing to return to us. It is our utmost pleasure to make your vacation a memorable one!
