The Johnson Brothers Rumble in the Hillzs. What a great week!! Very nice and clean cabin. Very rustic and way the heck back in the hills. Long curvy gravel roads with cows, unless you come from Deadwood, than it's not so bad. The game room was used nightly thru the wee hours of the night. Word of caution for those who have to have cell/I-Phone coverage.......there isn't any! We had 4 different devices in our group, all with different services, and none could get a call out. At first, we thought was a bit of a pain, but actually was kind of refreshing. By the end of the week, we didnt really care. ATVing was fun, but you did have to ride a few miles to the trail's. Thats okay, as long as you obey the laws and be respectful to those that live locally. Not much for shopping near by, so you have to think twice about what you want, how much, and how bad. Over all, the cabin was great, and my family really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend this cabin to anyone that was looking to get away.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The cabin was perfect for our family vacation. We enjoyed the peace, quiet and scenery of the Black Hills. We had plenty of room to spread out and all enjoyed the soothing sounds of the meandering stream which runs through the property. The cabin was as beautiful and well maintained. All we had to do was to bring our food and a few toiletries. The adults enjoyed the respite from their cell phones and internet and the kids were happy to have cable television. It was a truly relaxing experience from the rat race of the daily grind. The cabin is a little off the beaten path but well worth it for those who want to get away from it all!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

It was as if God just sat this cabin down just for us. My family rented this very clean and fully stocked cabin for my parents 40th Ann. and we had the best time, the grandkids had a blast with the game room and the wonderful fire pit and creek area. The kitchen was fully stocked with enough pots and pans down to the silverwear. Plenty of clean towels and sheets. I just can not say enough about the cabin. The pictures posted does not do it justice.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway.

This place was beautiful and very, very clean. Have rented several times in the Black Hills and this was our favorite. Centrally located to everything. There are 4 bedrooms and there are 2 at each end of the house with a bathroom on each end too. This I think is nice if you have 2 families staying in the cabin. We had a great time and will for sure be renting again. People are also correct the pictures do not even come close to how beautiful the place really is.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We were their on the last week of August. Great place, everything you need is there. Close to Rochford, bikers were starting to come out for Sturgis, we rode ATV, had a great time, met interesting people at the Moonshine Gulch, will definitely come back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

There were 8 of us staying here. We have been to the Black Hills many times and this was, by far, the best stay we have ever had! The cabin was clean, very comfortable and more than what we had ever imagined! I have stayed in other cabins before that were equipped with the "bare bones". This wasn't the case here - it had everything we could possibly need - plenty of towels, sheets, dishes, utensils, garbage bags, toilet paper. You just have to bring your own toiletries....shampoo, soap, etc. The owners were great in answering our questions promptly and keeping in contact with us. I would definately recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the Black Hills. My family will definately stay here again if it is available the next time we come. One place I would highly recommend, for people who may not be aware of it, is the Alpine Inn in Hill City. We make it a point to eat there one evening everytime we visit the Black Hills. After 5:00, I believe, they have Filet Mignon for either $8.95 or $10.95 - depending on the size you want. That is ALL they serve and you have to pay with CASH. There will be a wait, but it is well worth it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family of 13 LOVED staying at this cabin. The pictures do not capture how new, clean, and comfortable the cabin is, The setting is beautiful and the right distance from many attractions (Mt. Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Crazy Horse, etc.) We planned on doing more tourist things but decided to scale back because of how much fun we were having at the cabin. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

My entire family (Parents, 3 grown children, 2 spouses, and 6 grandchildren) stayed at this cabin for our Christmas celebration, and we had a wonderful time! There was plenty of room for everyone, no interruptions with cell phones, excessive TV, etc. Even though it is pretty far into the hills (which makes it a beautiful setting) the roads were very well maintained, and even in a very snowy year, the roads were plowed and they were even plowing when we left on a Sunday. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family. We are already planning on it for next year! P.S. If you have small children, there is a Pack n Play (portable crib) under one of the bunk beds, we discovered that while packing our stuff up, and I had forgotten mine. :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

About the owner: We are married with three children. We live in the Black Hills and love the area. We build this getaway on our own and it is our treasure.
Why the Owner Chose Rochford:
We chose this location because it is away from the hustle/bustle of everyday life. When we go there, there is no cable TV (just antenna), no internet, and it truly is an opportunity for us to spend time together as a family in God's paradise without distractions.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We absolutely love sitting on the deck, listening to the creek. The kids love sledding. There is a large area just off the deck where the children can pull the sleds with their 4 wheelers and they have a blast. The snow has been great and it is really fun. We 4 wheel as a family and there are several trails off the property. There is a camp ground a few miles down the road and there is direct access to snowmobile trails. Skiing is just 25-30 minutes up the road, so it is really nice to go to the cabin then get up in the morning to ski. Also, we like to stop in at the Moonshine Gulch Saloon, which is a staple in Rochford.
