Let me just tell you a few things that I really enjoyed... A bathroom shower that was an experience like no other. Grilling out on a large deck over looking a serene pond. Walking out the door with a fishing rod and a few lures then catching several panfish and bass. Sitting out by a fire under a blanket near the bank of the pond on a starlit night listening to symphony of night creatures. Thanks, Debbie, for sharing your special place away from it all.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. I don't think the pictures do the property justice. It was very well maintained and clean. The owner was very helpful and attentive. We had an easy time finding the cottage thanks to the directions given us by the owners. The teenage girls who were with me had a wonderful time. It was hard to pull them away to go to the college open house in Buena Vista, the reason we had come to Virginia. The drive between Buena Vista and the cottage was spectacular. We loved it. Early October was just beautiful!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We absolutely loved our week long stay at this Riverfront Cabin. I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning a visit to this area of Virginia and are looking for a pristine/serene setting close to many interesting places to explore in Viriginia. The rental is in a beautiful setting and the cabin offered up-to-date ammenities and was in excellent condition. The owner's were very hospitable. We would definately rent this cabin again. We booked this cabin expecting it to be one we would enjoy based on the description and pictures. It exceeded our expectations!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our family of teenagers stayed here 2 nights. The cottage was clean, well furnished, and the owners very nice to work with. The place is like described. We enjoyed the close-by James River and Parkway for fishing and hiking. The only downside for us was the neighbors directly across the pond. They were friendly enough people, just closer than we preferred. A very nice and peaceful spot.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

this house had everthing you would need and is decorated beautifully. this the perfect place to take a grandchild and and enjoy the trails and 2 acre pond in front. we stayed there for a week ond the only small problem we had was turning the 16 ft boat around on the road to the house but we had just enough room. there are 3 james river boat ramps within 30 minutes and then there are 3 electric motor onlyl lakes about 40 minutes away there is no cable but we hooked up a wii and played games after done fishing and didn't miss watching tv at all . at night on the porch all you could hear are the bull frogs and crickets and look up at the stars in the house is complete quiet. if you want alone time and quiet this is the house to rent..Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: My husband and I moved to Virginia with our daughter in 1999 because it was such a beautiful area. We enjoy travelling and relaxing at home with our family.
Why the Owner Chose Amherst:
As we have found ourselves travelling more in the past few years, we have always been relieved to come home to this gorgeous area. There is always a new place to explore, and the scenery is indescribable. The mountains of Virginia are truly magnificent, the air is cleaner, the changing seasons more beautiful, the sunsets more breathtaking, and the ability to bond with nature and family at the same time is unforgettable. We bought Sunnybrook as a place to come on the weekends to "get away from it all", and it was such a great experience that we decided to allow others to enjoy the same peace and serenity that we find at our little cottage.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We love to row into the middle of the pond and just drift and relax, then row back and start a fire by the water's edge and watch the sunset. Whether we go to out little getaway for a romantic weekend or with the family, everyone finds something to do. It's relaxing to sit on the edge of the dock with your feet dangling and fish all day (catch and release, please). My daughter loves to go down to the James River and take pictures of the changing seasons. Our grandson loves to go on "Nature Walks" through our wooded acreage and discover the local flora and fauna, and everyone who comes loves to grill and socialize on the patio.
