  My fiancé and I had one of our best vacation ever at this little cottage. The listing description is really what you get. It's close to many beaches. The cottage is perfect for a couple, or very close friends. You have a complete kitchen. And there is oil, butter, salt and pepper, flour... You get whatever the previous occupants left there. The property was very clean when we got there.We really liked our stay ! There are also snorkling gears, body surf, chairs, parasol, beach towels... The owner, Dali, is very sweet and kind. Since we were leaving late in the afternoon on Saturday, she offered us to leave our luggages at a safe place, so that we can enjoy our last day without worrying about getting our car robbed...! This has been very appreciated. We would definetely recommend this property to our friends or relatives. It was perfect for us. For activies, we really went to Hawaii to surf, so that's kind of the only thing we really did... :) We went surfing every morning in Haleiwa. It's 15 minutes from the cottage, but since we are beginners / intermediates at surfing, it was a perfect surf break for us. The waves were smooth and not heavy. My boyfriend also when to Chun's, another surf break. In end of April, we got some knee to head high waves. Check monthly forecast on the Internet to be sure you are getting waves you will be able to ride. The food is not very good in Haleiwa... These are our recommendations. We really like the Kahuku Superette (Famous Poke), very excellent fresh shoya Tuna ; Kahuku Grill (Burgers and coconut Shrimps) ; Fiji Market (Curry chicken) ; Ted's Bakery (Cinnamon Rolls) ; anywhere in Haleiwa for Shaved Ice. We were VERY dissapointed by Haleiwa Joe's, the food was expensive and really bad, not fresh at all !!! Have a nice stay :) Julie

  We absolutely loved this little cottage. We only stayed for 3 nights but wish we could have stayed much longer. It is situated in the perfect location. We loved walking to the beach across the street and to Ted's Bakery every morning for breakfast and some famous Chocolate Haupia Pie. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The snorkle gear was perfect for some swim time at Shark's Cove and the beach chairs made for a great day relaxing on the beach. Our favorite part of the house was the porch where we enjoyed reading and watching the geckos play in the beautiful garden. Great clean and nicely decorated cottage with an awesome kitchen and great sleeping space. Absolutely perfect experience and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone!

  We stayed here in January and found it to be all that was advertised and more. Dali is a great host and we will definitely be back. It was hard to leave and will be our only choice for future visits to Oahu.

  We stayed at the cottage during the first week of Feb. We'd read all the great reviews and we were excited to stay there. But once we arrived, we felt otherwise. The first thing I'll note is that, in the pics the owner posted online, the windows are all uncovered. However, since we saw what appeared to be window-covering brackets on the windows, we assumed that they'd taken the blinds down to enhance the photos. We assumed wrong. The cottage sits in their backyard, and the neighbors are a few feet away. One window faced directly from the bed toward their house and had no blinds. We could see their windows and they could see into ours. The bathroom window also had no covering, and it was directly next to the shower... which had a see-thru shower curtain. I immediately called the owner and she seemed surprised that we needed something to be done about those windows. She said that she'd send someone over to put something up while we were at dinner. When we returned, we found that a curtain had been put up in the bedroom/living room area, but they only covered HALF the window in the bathroom. When the next morning rolled around, we discovered that the bamboo shades on the two other windows were also partially see-thru. On top of this, the house was not very clean, and it definitely needs a little TLC. The veneer is coming off the cabinets, there's gecko poo on the walls and floor, and the bathroom shower curtain had mold growing on it. The house needs a good scrubbing from top to bottom. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. We were unable to relax and spent as little time at the cottage as we could. Since we'd already paid in full, we felt that we had no option but to stay. And we were not the first people to point this out - they had left a couple guest books that we read through and other visitors had also recommended that proper shades be installed. We cannot imagine why the owners wouldn't just install blinds and let the guests choose their level of privacy. To have the option of privacy taken away is preposterous. Can you imagine a hotel not having shades? As for the amenities, the snorkel gear was broken and filthy, and the bikes were so rusted we didn't even try to ride them. It's too bad. The cottage is in a fantastic location with easy access to the beach and Ted's Bakery (that's what earned it two stars). But until improvements are made, we will not recommend it.

  Owner response: There will always be people who are looking for a resort quality accommodations for home stay prices. We never claim to have a comparable quality as a resort but we do claim to offer guests an authentic North Shore experience, that includes the rust on the bikes. I wish she would have notified us about her problems when she arrived but she only asked to have some curtains put up, which I did within 1 hour of being asked. You can't please all the people all the time, but I think our reviews show that many people enjoy our cottage and this points to some people are harder to please than others and for those harder to please readers, I suggest you stay at Turtle Bay Resort for your North Shore visit. There is a saying you get what you pay for and I think my place is very special little home stay.

  What a dream vacation for my husband and I at this North Shore location. It a very short walk to prime beaches and the bike path is great for walking to grocery or other beaches. Very clean place with well stocked kitchen. Previous renters had left coffee filters, seasonings, oil etc which made it easy to cook meals. Lanai was wonderful for reading or relaxing and everything was just as presented online. It is truly a home away from home. We loved it.

  This became our paradise, the space, layout, furnishings, and kindness from Dali surpassed everything we could expect. The bikes saved us, as they were our only source of transportation. The first day we found one bike had a flat tire, and the next morning Dali replaced it with her very own bike! Our towels were even swapped out for fresh ones, as we stayed over a week. The beaches were much closer then I had thought as well, Sunset (even Velzyland and Pipe) are walk able distances away. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and would recommend this cottage to anyone I know, we will definitely be back next winter! Thank you again Dali for such a memorable stay.

  I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for the local flavor of Ohau. If you are looking for resort living this is not for you. Nothing fancy but the cottage is clean and convenient to the north shore beaches.

  I wish we could have had the opportunity to stay here. On the Home Away site it states that there is a two night minimum, however when I emailed the owner I was told it was at least a week minimum stay. This is unfortunate since this place looks perfect but we only needed 3 nights. Just an FYI if you are looking for a place for less than one week. Owner was very responsive and emailed back the same day I sent the inquiry! Home Away reads: Base Rate Minimum Stay: 2 nights Owner Response: Unfortunately, we don't rent for less than 1 week unless the dates back up to another reservation. If you have alternate dates you would consider, please let me know. Thanks again for your inquiry and please keep us in mind for future travel.

  mahalo! what an amazing place to call home while we were there for ten days! it was even closer to the beach that we thought- you can walk to a number of great spots to swim and snorkel (use the snorkel gear dali provides- nice perk!). the bikes provided the best way to get to sunset beach and beyond! dali was super helpful and kind and we can't wait to come back. amazing..........

  What an amazing place to stay on the North Shore! The cottage was a perfect home from home to explore the North Shore from. It has everything you need and more. (Great kitchen area, day bed for watching DVDs from, lanai for breakfasting and early evening drinks (that you share with the friendly gheckos) etc. The garden that the cottage is set within is beautiful and you have access to everything you need for a day at the beach - snorkelling gear, beach chairs, bikes etc It is just 5 minutes walk away from the beach and from Ted's Bakery which is a must for anyone visiting!! Sunset Beach, Pipeline and Waimea Bay are just up the road (maximum 4 miles away!) which for all ocean lovers is brilliant! There is great snorkelling at Pupukea Beach (across the road from Foodland) The whole North Shore is within easy reach as are key visitor attractions such as the Polynesian Cultural Centre, Pearl Harbour, Kauloa Ranch (set for Jurrasic Park, Lost etc) Dali, the cottage owner, was great at communicating prior to our stay and we had all relevant information before we arrived, directions etc We had the most amazing stay at the cottage and celebrated both of our birthdays there - we couldn't imagine a better place to stay on the North Shore and we would recommend this to friends and family.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
