  This unit was very clean with wonderful ocean views; We will definitely request it again when we return to Maui. One slight issue is the high water pressure in the shower.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

  We go to Maui every Christmas and enjoy our stay at the Honua Kai. It is a great place to stay - the pool, grounds, and the unit is well designed. They just need to work on some of the small details that I have highlighted below to make it easier on their guests. Would be nice if there were tennis courts though. We also find that there are not enough elevators and they are very slow. It was handy that the shuttle for the PGA Golf tournament in Kapalua starts just outside of the resort. makes it easy to get there. Too bad there isn't a shuttle the rest of the time to get to Kaanapali... that would be a nice touch. It is nice to have the washer and dryer in the unit... but it is very small and the dryer takes forever to dry anything. It is great for washing a few light items each day and allows you to bring less clothes with you and keep everything fresh. But large towels are a bit of a challenge. It would be great if they had some sort of cart in the garage entrance for bringing up groceries, water, beer, etc. It would help relieve the burden of carrying heavy boxes from your car and up to your room. We could use the bellmen at the front entrance but that is not convenient. It would be great if they could sort out the card keys for the doors. If you put them close to your phone, they are cancelled out and you are locked out of your unit. You have to go down to the reception to get them re-programmed. This happened to us a couple of times as most people carry a phone and their room key in close proximity.

  Very nice condo, great. However, pools were cold and it was very windy and rainy there at Honua Kai. Also, i thought my condo was on the inside court, not the outside - ocean and mountain - view.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.

• What a view!

  This was our first visit to the Honua Kai and will not be the last! The property is by far the best in Kaanapali based on the rooms, pools and amenities. The area has so much to do and explore. There is a grocery store within walking distance as well as a farmers market open 3 times a week. Duke's restaurant is excellent and the views at sunset are incredible. You will not be disappointed. Brooke was excellent to deal with and everything was as disclosed. He was also very helpful with any questions we had once we had arrived. Highly recommend the property and Harris management.

  Great complex, terrific for families with kids!! Stayed Mar 3-14th, 2012 and highly recommend the Honua Kai. Unit 648 -Ocean view is from the end of the lanai only, BEAUTIFUL view but can't see the ocean from the main living area as it actually faces the other building. Unit is on the outside of the Hokulani tower, facing the outside of the Konua tower, only one unit behind the front facing penthouse suites. More private than facing into the courtyard areas of either building but as I said no direct oceanview from the inside of the unit if that is what you are looking for. Complex is very nice, clean and has great pool area and very nice beach. Lots of pools and kids pools, waterslide, lazy river pool, hot tubs etc. Konua tower is the newer of the two but Hokulani is not dated at all, lovely lobby area and grounds. We loved it there with a three year old and a three month old. Lots of kids in this complex but heard that the pool in front of the Konua tower is being converted to Adults Only. Unit was very nice, modern, well furnished, great beds/duvets,well stocked for cooking and BBQ's in two areas near the pools. Be prepared to buy all cooking supplies for the unit right down to Salt and Pepper. Soaps(dish soap, laundry, hand and dishwasher soap) were supplied. Restaurant ( Duke's) in onsite as well as Aina Store. Great store with lots of nice organic products,kids cereal, milk, gelato, steaks and fish and sides for dinner if you want to cook. Prices were not too high in comparison to grocery stores there. Found the sandwiches and wraps very pricey ( eg.$10.99 for a grilled cheese) Dukes does takeout for lunch if you want to eat at the pool and has waiters around the pool area if you want to order drinks and food. Duke's prices comparable to other hotel restaurants in the area but they do have happy hour and a three course dinner before 5:30 for $25 Great beach shack with chair, umbrella rentals for the beach. Sand toys and floaties available for purchase, sunblock, Maui Jim sunglasses etc. Nice boardwalk along the beach that goes to other hotels in both directions. Kid's club there as well, didn't use it as we had our nanny with but lots of people were using it. Grocery store right across from the property, could walk if you wanted to across the complex and across the street, maybe 7 minute walk. Short drive to Lahaina, would not recommend walking there from Honua Kai, it is a very cute town, lots of little shops as well as Safeway, drugstores etc.

  Great property, great location. Everything was clean and in working order. Lovely condo, incredible windows with wonderful view. Loved the convenience of the keypad. Thank you for the boogie boards and beach chairs, we used them everyday. Thanks for supplying soap/dishwashing soap/laundry soap. Fun to have the convenience of a condo with the beautiful landscaping, pools, and amenities of a hotel. The listing description accurately described the location, the photos accurately reflected the rental's appearnace, the owner was helpful and friendly. I would recommend this property to a friend.

  Our family really enjoyed our 11 day stay at the Honua Kai. The unit was very spacious, clean and equipped with top of the line appliances and most importantly a great ocean view. Although we didn't do a lot of cooking, the kitchen was well-stocked and there were many grills available. My kids loved the pools, hot tubs, and great snorkeling beach. We ate at Dukes every day and bought pastries and coffee from the Aina Market. We loved being 10 minutes from the Napili/Kapalua beaches and town of Lahaina. The Times market was a convenient walk across the street. This was our 1st time dealing with Brooke Moore and Harris Hawaii. Brooke welcomed us with a warm aloha upon arrival and was a pleasure to deal with during our stay. This is a great unit and a terrific property that we would definitely recommend to others. My kids are already asking to go back!!

  Everything we were told AND MORE ! Highly recommend. Everything at your footsteps-quiet and peaceful, yet so many things to see and do if you wish: Aquarium, Road to Hana, Snorkel, Shop, Duke's Steakhouse, Sight see, steps to pool and beach, Submarine ride, Turtle Town, Golf, Sunsets, Rainbows, and much more. At the end of the day sleep in the most comfortable bed ever. Eat on the lanai (views are amazing), grounds are spectacular, staff is friendly and helpful. Best vacation EVER !!!

  We stayed at this property in Jan as a couple with a young baby, and grandma. We had a great time. The pools were great, it was a very beautiful property. We really enjoyed dinner at Duke's, and also the walk on the boardwalk down to Whalers Village. The condo itself was clean, spacious, and offered a great view. We were able to see whales breaching from our lanai everyday! The bifold patio doors were a great addition to the condo to really bring the outside in! All in all we had a great visit, and would not hesitate to book here again.

Additional information about rental rates

We charge either 20% or $500.00 which ever is greater non-refundable deposit at time of booking. There is a 3 night minimum and if you were booking within 21 days of your arrival date then we charge the entire amount of your stay at time of booking on those two items mentioned above. We charge the balance of your reservation 21 days prior to your arrival date.

Additional Fees and Taxes:

1) There is a $12.00 per day, per vehicle parking fee paid to the Honua Kai Resort front desk upon check in.

2) There is a one-time out-cleaning fee of $230.00 including taxes and if you needed a mid-stay cleaning then that is billed at $40.00 an hour with a 2 hour minimum.

3) There are applicable Hawaii State Taxes of 13.42% on nightly rate (4.167% GET & 9.25% TAT).
