Engineer's Notes: Cabin = beautiful with all the amenities required to have a story book time. Great location (proximity to park), 35 minutes out to "X" marks the spots. Upstairs is 100% open to the rest of the cabin. Shingle Springs = Quaint and straight to the point. There is a great place to get beers at the local pizza joint. Two grocers, antique stores and nice folks. Setting of Cabin = Serene, quiet, isolated. Corrections: Hot tub = In-house bathroom jetted tub x 2 Notes: Deck and fireplace tie everything together late into the night. A great place to come back to from your adventures and open your mind. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

7 Friends and I rented out the Hummingbird Home for a few days over new years 2011-2012, and it turned out to be the perfect spot for us! There was plenty of space for everyone, and we enjoyed the gorgeous views and spacious decks. Since there are no other buildings right next door, it really feels like you are in the middle of nature. We cooked many delicious meals in the fully equipped, modern kitchen. We were able to ski and hike in Mt. lassen National park, although the park entrance that we went to ended up being about an hour from the house. Even so, the drive int he surrounding areas were beautiful. The owners were very responsive and accommodating to all of our needs and questions. What a great place to welcome in the new year!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are so happy to have such wonderful guests our first year of guests staying with us! Just a tip for future guests Lassen National Park has 5 entrances We are closest to The Manzenita entrance. We are about 10 min from Shingletown were you can get picnic items and Supplies at our two wonderful stores. From town you are about 20 min to park entrance.A beautiful place to adventure! Thank You Come stay with us At the Hummingbird Log Home Kathleen,Lee

My husband and I needed to unwind and celebrate Christmas, in our own way! This was the place. Although we missed any snow, the views were spectacular, with nature out of every window. The loft was wonderful (such a comfortable bed, too). My husband loved the jacuzzi tub, as did I. The best part was that we could bring our Great Pyrenees with us to enjoy the vacation ( we hate leaving him behind when we travel). The people in the town are very friendly and we both felt at home. We enjoyed our visit to Shasta Caverns. And Pioneer Pizza was good, to bring home (I say home, because that's what it was to us, while we were there). The only con would be that there were no curtains in the upstairs bathroom. But, when you take a bath it sure is nice to look out of the windows and see trees and sky. Loved it!! Kat and Lee were wonderful with their communication, as well!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Our family of six visited this lovely log cabin home for several nights in August. We loved the authentic rustic log walls mixed with the high end acoutrements like granite counters and appliances. It was definitely in the woods and off the beaten path. Very peaceful. We couldn't get over the silence at night and the starry nights. Could easily catch satellites in the sky too! It's a great location for visiting nearby Lassen National Volcanic Park where we hiked the Bumpass Hell trail in the snow in August! And we had a lovely visit at the Wild Horse Sanctuary in nearby Manton that Kathleen recommended to us. We really enjoyed relaxing at the house after lots of outdoor hiking & sightseeing. The owners have put alot of personal touches that make the home one of a kind. This was just our second vrbo rental experience, and it was great. The owner, Kathleen, was very helpful.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The listing photos illustrate only some of the features offered by this beautiful cabin, where we have been fortunate to spend several delightful weekends. The cabin is comfortable and well-equiped, with views that are breathtaking. A sense of being miles from anywhere but actually very close to local amenities including a general store, various shops and several places to eat. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
