The Union Street Esprit du Beau
L'Esprit du Beau is a late 19th-century townhouse, mindfully restored by the owner, a professional designer/construction specialist. Modern touches compliment historic details and a neutral palette soothes the soul. The restoration has created a light-filled, handsome, luxury accommodation that offers family and friends room to enjoy.
L'Esprit du Beau is ideally located on one of the most sought after blocks in Hudson. Located four blocks from the Hudson River and Amtrak, it is one block from Hudson’s main street where you will find the best restaurants and shops. The residence is bordered on one side by a beautiful English garden offering views from many of the rooms. There is a lovely private garden off the kitchen. The kitchen, designed for an accomplished cook, flows with simple steps and easy maneuvering, accented beautifully with soap stone counters. An island with seating provides a comfortable area for kitchen conversation, small meals, and a cup of tea.
The beautifully modernized bathrooms, central HVAC, and high speed Wi-Fi will let you know that you are safely ensconced in the 21st century while taking pleasure in historical details that can rarely be matched these days.
On the second floor are three distinctive bedrooms, each one an oasis of calm and beauty, all with queen size beds. There is also a comfortable TV room for late-night viewing. At the end of the second floor hallway is an open light-filled space where you may want to roll out one of the provided yoga mats. In the golden light of the afternoon, stretch and soak in the legendary light of the Hudson River Valley.
On the third floor is a sensational master suite, 750 sf, with private bath and living area. This floor is reminiscent of a NYC loft; its open plan is uncluttered and inviting. It can serve any number of functions: master bedroom; individual writer’s retreat; children’s playroom; honeymoon suite; or in-law private floor.
L'Esprit du Beau extends a warm welcome and offers a sincere commitment to detail and personalized attention.
Additional services such as flowers, handmade chocolates, private masseuses, private instructors, chefs, car service and babysitters are available upon request.
Keywords: Sophisticated, comfortable, on one of the best blocks in Hudson. Near Amtrak, Near New York City and Boston. Welcome wedding parties, brides, couples, families, and those road testing Hudson.

We so appreciated the attention given to every last detail in this immaculate and comfortable house, including beautiful stemware, fine linens and fresh flowers! We loved gathering at the giant farm table for dinner and that the house is divided in a way that allows for exceptional privacy as well, especially on the third floor. We stayed the weekend with friends from Denmark so the modern decor was great. A quiet place one block from the main street in town - just perfect!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers.

My wife and I stayed here for the week of our wedding and couldn't have imagined a better place to stay. The house is in beautiful condition and very open and inviting. Coming from the city it was a great way to relax with the backyard and the grill and all the natural light the house gets. We also utilized the beautifully done upstairs apartment to the fullest. Peggy was great and very easy to work with. Check in was super easy and check out was a piece of cake. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to spend a week relaxing and enjoying Hudson in a beautiful home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

We stayed here with our family prior to our son's wedding. The house was immaculate, and very well stocked for all of our needs. We enjoyed eating in the lovely garden (complete with table and umbrella). Extended family came for brunch following the wedding and were easily accomodated in the dining room and outside. Owner Peggy Anderson was extremely helpful with all of our questions about resources in the town. Highly recommended!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We stayed at L’Esprit Du Beau for our wedding and it was the perfect “home” for our special weekend. We stayed there with half of our wedding party, and everyone marveled at how beautiful the house was. It was the perfect mix of modern decor with historic charm. The house made for a very lovely setting as the girls were getting ready before the wedding. The master suite was a wonderful space and served as a great romantic retreat. Peggy was so nice and accommodating, and she went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We would absolutely stay at L’Esprit Du Beau again - maybe for our anniversary!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We traveled to Hudson for a family wedding. L'Esprit Du Beau was perfect. The home was so clean and well thought out. It was easy to tell an artist was involved in the home's renovation. It was an amazing mix of historical features with Modern decore. The furniture was so comfortable and tasteful and the artwork was fantastic. Everything was so well thought out. We had a mix of ages and everyone had a space to gather. It was an easy one block walk to the main shopping street and a couple of blocks walk to the Hudson river where we took a river boat cruise. The pictures don't do this home justice. It is amazing. If we are ever in the area again, we will be staying at the L'Esprit Du Beau.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We recently came to Hudson for a friend's wedding, and had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful home with other invitees. It has exquisite design, an incredibly convenient location, and an idyllic outdoor garden that is difficult to leave. We feel blessed to have shared memories in this home, and highly recommend it as one of our favorite rentals. And as a side note: staying on the top floor is truly special and not to be missed! Bravo to L'Esprit Du Beau.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We rented the house just last weekend for a surprise birthday getaway with a few friends. I can't say enough about how lovely it is, and what a wonderful time we had staying there. There is so much thought put into every detail, and the space beckons you to relax in a chair with a good book, spend time cooking your favorite meal, or gathering in the quaint backyard to relax with a drink & some good conversation. The owner is responsive, and accommodating (even checking in with us a time or two over the weekend to ensure we had everything we needed). If you are looking for a relaxing weekend in a quaint town, L'Esprit Du Beau is your place.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

Eight of us stayed in this beautifully restored, perfectly located home for New Years Eve. The house is an absolute gem and we marveled at how lucky we were to find it all weekend. The kitchen has new appliances and is well-equipped with everything we needed to cook big meals. The dining room table was perfect for long dinners and games and the living room was big enough for all of us to relax in after cold days outdoors. The bedrooms are gorgeous and clean and the beds are super comfortable! The top floor is a real treat, with big tub and lots of space for two people who wanted a bit more privacy. The house is conveniently located just blocks from tons of restaurants, cafes and antique shops and just a couple of blocks from Amtrak (though not so close that the trains keep you up at night). Peggy was a pleasure to work with in setting up the weekend--we hope to come back again soon!Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. I am so glad that you had a good time. I hope to see you and your friends again!
