Welcome to BAREFOOT COTTAGE!
We are located in South Ponte Vedra Beach on the ocean between Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Augustine on Scenic A1A.
Our 3 bedroom and 2 bath one story cottage has been completely re-modeled and there is a view of the ocean from almost every room. It has been decorated with the beach charm and is as cute as a button.
Ponte Vedra Beach is just 15 minutes to the north and is home to the PGA HEADQUARTERS for golf and ATP HEADQUARTERS for tennis. The Player's Championship is here in May and is the biggest purse in golf in the United States. It is played on the TPC Stadium course at Sawgrass and is known for it's famous 17th. hole island green. Ponte Vedra has some of the nicest golf courses in the country.
Historic St. Augustine is just 10 minutes to the south. St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States and is perfect for antiquing, shopping or taking in a little history. Don't forget to wander through the Castillo De San Marco which is the old fort.
Downtown Jacksonville offers concerts, symphony and sporting events. Jacksonville has an NFL team (The Jacksonville Jaguars), a triple A baseball team (The Suns), an indoor football team (The Sharks)and a hockey team (The Lizard Kings). There are festivals offered almost every weekend from spring throughout the end of the summer. There are shrimp, crawfish, blues, Jazz and arts and crafts to name a few.
Just 5 minutes north of BAREFOOT COTTAGE is Guana State Park. This is great for fishing, bird watching, kayaking, canoeing and biking on the trails. The bird wildlife is unbelievable. We have osprey, eagle, crane, wood stork, blue heron, green heron, red headed woodpecker, hawk and owls. Back Country fishing is great for trout, redfish and flounder. Fly-fishing for redfish is excellent during certain times of the year.
The Atlantic Ocean is directly out your back door. The beach is great for walking, shelling, searching for sharks teeth and sea glass. The ocean is perfect for surfing, swimming, sea kayaking, kite surfing, parasailing, jet skiing and fishing. Offshore we have mahi-mahi, small sailfish, wahoo, grouper, snapper and king mackeral better known as kingfish. There are two big fishing tournaments in the summer. The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament and St. Augustine's KingBuster. There are also dive charters for scuba diving on some of the local wrecks and reefs offshore. There are very few lights in South Ponte Vedra; so the stars and moon over the ocean are incredible. It is also fun to watch the shrimp boats as they head back and forth at night along the coastline. During the winter months of January and February the Right Whales come down to give birth to their calves. From May through the end of October is turtle nesting season. If you are lucky you may be able to see the hatchlings escaping from their nests and heading down the beach by moonlight on their long journey into the sea. It is quite a touching experience. Please do not disturb the nests. They are marked by orange tape and stakes. There are substantial fines if you disturb the nests or leave lights on facing the beach during nesting season. Dolphin can be seen all year around playing in the surf. The sound of the surf is extremely relaxing.

We LOVED our time at Barefoot cottage.....we brought 5 teenagers with us to visit a friend in Jacksonville and we ended up spending almost all of our time either on the beach out the back door or in St. Augustine. The cottage was perfectly decorated and with traveling with kids, did not want to feel like a bull in a china shop but it was very comfortable. David was very attentive to all my questions, especially with calming my fears of sending a check in the mail instead of having the rent paid by credit card. He called and checked on us and even made a house call when we were having trouble operating the blinds. The cottage was sufficiently stocked with kitchen, linens and was very clean. It was a slice of heaven waking up and looking out the master bedroom sliding glass door every morning at the sun rise on the ocean. The beach was quiet and relaxing.....we even got to see manna rays swimming about 20 yards out. If you just want to sit and relax on the beach all day, then this is the place! With 5 active teens, we did that and ended up in town almost every day too. The three older teens would have rather had a crowded beach full of other teens, but still managed to have a great time. We were there for the week prior to Easter Sunday and what a great value it was - we will definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Beautiful little cottage right on the ocean, quiet and tranquil and very comfortable. My family really enjoyed the gorgous beach and and this well equiped home. The owners are lovely people that make sure that everything is right and you have all that you need to have a fantastic vacation. Can't wait to return next year.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Over the years we have taken many oceanfront beach vacations, usually in luxury homes, up and down the East Coast. None can compare to The Barefoot Cottage. The simple life is where at's at! The cottage is not fancy, but thouroghly comfortable and decorated exactly how a beach house should be. We were steps from the ocean, and we practically had the whole beach to ourselves No crowding here!. It was so nice not to have to rent linnens or worse, wash them and remake beds before we left, or have to spend our last day cleaning. The personal touches of the owners were evident throughout the house. I highly recommend The Barefoot Cottage for a very peaceful and memorable beach vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

It is incredible to wake up to the sun hitting the surf just outside the master door sliders - walking on the beach for miles, and having such a private, comfortable spot. It was so relaxing for our family to enjoy a true beach cottage vacation where we could play cards together and really feel away from it all. The WIFI and tv weren't too shabby to have however. So close to great restaurants like Cap's and the Columbia at St Augustine, yet it felt so remote at times. Huge Master with a nice tile shower and floor. We really enjoyed our time there and look forward to returning again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I am originally from upstate New York. My husband and I relocated to Ponte Vedra Beach in the late 80's. My son has also relocated here and is raising his family in Ponte Vedra Beach. I and my son are both Realtors. We love the beach and the area. We hope you will come visit BAREFOOT COTTAGE and we look forward to seeing you soon.

I purchased this property as both a vacation rental and a weekend retreat. I wanted to find an oceanfront property nearby where I could escape from the stress. It was a perfect fit. I love the ocean and the lifestyle at the beach and felt that others could enjoy it while vacationing at BAREFOOT COTTAGE!
