Welcome to our Lodge House!

Completed in 2011, the wheelchair-friendly 3,770 sq. ft. Lodge House is nestled among the trees in a serene setting just 25 feet from its sandy, gentle-slope beach on Stone Lake. Situated at the end of a quiet dead-end lane with only 18 homes, it's part of a private 47-acre heavily wooded nature preserve with trails great for exploring wildlife.

The recently completed optional Attached Guest Quarters (AGQ) adds 2 more BRs / 2 more BAs (7 BRs / 7.5 BAs in total), with sleeping for 20 in beds, 24 using sofas. The AGQ also adds a private 9 x 24 deck overlooking the lake, woods and the 29 x 30 playset. All 7 BRs have Queen beds with very comfy memory foam toppers; 3 of the BRs also have Twin bunkbeds.

Need more BRs? Add our other home on Stone Lake that's just 900 feet away on the same quiet dead-end country lane -- go to VRBO dot com and enter property #262334.

This unobstructed open space is also ideal for Yoga Groups, Scrapbookers, Quilters, Business Retreats. Most all of the furniture in the Gathering-Game Room can be moved into the adjacent 9 x 24 Entry Foyer if more open floorspace is desired. **** Arriving soon: An HD Projection TV with 10-foot power screen perfect for sports, movie night or PowerPoint presentations. ***

With its lakeside wall of windows on all 3 levels the Lodge House has incredible views of the secluded western shoreline of quiet Stone Lake. The 7 BRs each has its own full bathroom – yes! -- and each BR has a Queen Bed. Three of the upper level BRs also have twin bunk beds. Twin 50-gallon hot water tanks means a never-ending supply of hot water.

The entire interior is finished in knotty pine planking - hence its “Lodge House” name.

The Lodge House has a barrier-free entry, two MBR suites with 3 x 5 roll-in showers & private water closets with grab bars and maneuvering room (see floorplan). A Power Chairlift connects the Main Level with the Lower Level. Additional accessible features include BA vanities w/ knee room, lower mirrors, the 12-foot x 36-foot lakefront Covered Deck right off the Main Level…and pocket doors galore!

The final landscaping will result in a gently sloped hard surface walkway from the lower level patio to the beach dock and the secluded, sandy gentle-slope beach.

At a shady spot at the treeline near the house is an awesome playset (29' W x 30' L) that features multiple platforms, swings, slides, rock climbing wall...enough to keep the kids entertained for hours.

Many guests enjoy reserving our Pontoon Boat -- it really opens up a whole new world to be able to get out on the lake – and the little ones just love playing 'captain' steering the boat. The Pontoon Boat also makes for a great mobile swimming platform, and sunsets are glorious as it's so peaceful to be out in the middle of Stone Lake and just slowly drift and watch the waterfowl, birds, etc. And if anyone likes to fish - that's what Stone Lake is famous for! We include in the rental of the Pontoon Boat a personal orientation session so that the Pontoon can be operated safely and with confidence. Also included is 10 gallons of fuel -- enough for a week.

Included with a Pontoon Boat reservation are 4 Sea Eagle 370 inflatable 2-person sit-on-top Kayaks (we actually may add more Kayaks since they're so popular!). Also a fishing row boat - all perfect for exploring the quiet undeveloped shoreline of Stone Lake to experience aquatic life up close.

For Guests with mobility issues, and Guests with children who love to vacation with other families, the serene setting of the Lodge House with its own boat dock, gentle-slope sandy beach and 47 wooded acres -- makes for family memories to last a lifetime.

We love to talk about Stone Lake -- so please shoot us an email for more info!

Warmly,
Ted & Brenda

P.S. Latest addition: 8 Mountain Bikes (mix of child and adult sizes) for our Guests to ride on the trails in the 47 wooded acres -- and through the nearby residential areas of the Village of Cassopolis for those who like to admire the many grand turn-of-the-century homes that are sprinkled throughout. You will not regret this place. Our group is a unique group of 7 couples from across the country that all share in the same career and life focus. His was our 6th annual retreat and this 7 bed / 7.5 bath is the best house yet. We ate every meal as a group on the covered deck overlooking the beautiful setting and enjoying all the waterfowl and wildlife. The fire pit was an evening highlight. The kitchen was perfect for accommodating a group of our size. The beds were so comfortable and the amenities were the best we've found. The woods are excellent for hiking were we saw some deer, groundhogs, and many rabbits. We used the bikes to ride around the woods and into town (warning: that's a workout). The new dock area is great for fishing or getting your feet wet. The greatest feature for us however had to be the gathering room. With ping pong, pool table, the new massive HD projector and screen, the four sofas, and more, this was perfect for our scheduled sessions, group games and more. Thank you Ted and Brenda for being so accommodating and easy to work with. We will be back! Before we had always rented near Lake Michigan so we were concerned at first about the location. But it did not disappoint at all. And for the price you can't go wrong. Next time we will be sure to rent the boats also!

We had 14 adults gather from 6 different states for a family reunion. The number of bedrooms, beds, bathrooms, distinct gathering areas and the huge dining table were perfect for our needs. You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but be a few minutes to anything you need. The oldest folks in our group appreciated all of the special features throughout the house and the younger generation took advantage of the hiking trails and the separate game room and tv room. You can tell that the owners have gone out of their way to make this a perfect rental. Multiple times on Friday after arrival I heard "I wish they had ...." and we quickly found whatever it was someone needed. Pizza from Marcellos Friday night, chicken and ribs - and all the sides - from Vlasicak's Meat Market on Saturday and a Sunday brunch from Foodies meant no one had to cook (which made me a hero). The quality and quantity of food from Jeff Vlasicak's catered meal was outstanding. His meats must win awards they were so good. Dang those baked beans were tasty.... If you go to Dowagiac, Caruso's Candy is a must visit too. The one thing Ted needs is, ah, um, I can't think of anything. We do these reunions every few years and we really enjoy going to new places in different states but this time people were asking if we could go back to the Lodge House next time. It's just that good. Look at Ted's other website linked in VRBO for even more great photos and information. He has another large house up the street that is quite different in style but equally as impressive.

This is the second year in a row that my 4 siblings and I (and our families) rented this house for a winter family getaway weekend (in March). There were16 of us this year (ages 2-64) and we fit in all 7 bedrooms perfectly. And having the addition of the game room (and the 2 extra bedrooms/baths) this year really made it great. I believe they have Direct TV and we were able to watch the Big Ten tourney on the TV. We were also able to have our own tournament with the Ping Pong and Pool tables which was a lot of fun. The location is great for our needs - we have people coming from Madison WI, Chicago, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and Bloomington, IN and it sure beats having everyone come to one of our own homes. The kitchen is well equipped, there are 2 big refrigerators, and it's open to the family/dining area so it's really a great place to gather. We ordered pizzas one night from the local pizza place and they were very good and BIG - but they close at 8:30 so don't delay! Both years we ended our stay with lunch at a diner in town (think it's called Broadway Cafe?) and they have excellent diner food and great service (considering there were 11 of us that went). Thank you Ted and Brenda for offering such a top-notch vacation rental. My only regret is that we haven't gone during the summer where we would get to enjoy the outside for a change!!

We stayed at the Lodge House this past weekend & took 21 of our family members to celebrate my birthday as well as my nieces & 2 of my nephews. I must say that from the start of sending an inquiry to the end of our stay, Brenda & Ted went above & beyond with phenomenol communication & were just truly the nicest people I've ever dealt with when renting a home! The house is breathtaking & highly recommended for large groups of people of any age looking to go on a getaway. From the number of bathrooms & bedrooms to the game room, to the ice fishing we did, The house is PERFECT! The property & inside of the home was extremely clean; I felt as if we were walking into a brand new house! All in all, our family made some great memories & had alot of laughs at the Lodge Home & hopefully we will be getting the opportunity to book it again for next year. Again, Brenda & Ted, you both are truly great hosts & I thank you both for sharing your vacation home with all of us!

We stayed at the Lodge House for our annual ice fishing trip to honor our brother, friend, and son who gave his life defending our country in Iraq. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate his life, doing some of the things he loved. Ted and Brenda went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. The communication was excellent which allowed us to enter the weekend with no worries. We found the house adequately equipped to handle our large group. They had absolutely everything covered. This was actually our third trip to the lodge and on every visit we continue to be amazed at the beauty of the lodge and its location. Thank you, Ted and Brenda, for providing us with such a perfect place to create a lifetime of memories. We’ll be back!

One word: WOW. It makes you a little nervous when you rent a home for the first time. Will it live up to your expectations? Well, no worries here. The house was exactly as described and in some ways, even better. We had 15 adults and 10 children (ages 6yrs to 6 months). The one fringe that came up time and time again was the luxury of having a private bathroom with each bedroom. What a plus. And they weren't kidding about the never-ending supply of hot water! I loved the gas fireplace. No lugging wood and cleaning up the ashes. Upon arriving at the house, Don stopped in to see if we had any concerns. He was ready to help us out the entire weekend, but luckily we never encountered any problems with the house. We missed out on any ice fishing (darn unreliable Michigan weather!) but we did have an abundance of snow making snowmobiling and sledding our outdoor activities. The foyer was large enough to handle all our outdoor gear. Ted and Brenda were very easy to work with, quick at returning any emails with all my questions. All in all, a very fun winter weekend and I would highly recommend this house.

We have been gathering at holiday vacation rentals for 5 years now and this was the cleanest and most comfortable house by far. Some of the things that set this house apart for us were the large open areas as well as nice private suites for individual families, sledding hills for the kids, great bird watching, game room for tweens and a separate football watching room for the guys. We also love that you didn't have us bring our own bedding and we didn't have a long list of chores to do when we left. We had the best time!

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful lake house! There were 16 people in our group, ranging in age from 9 to 80+, and it was perfect for all of us! It was very clean and spacious. Every bedroom had its own bathroom, which was perfect for our group. The game room was a real bonus, and was big enough for us to add a Christmas tree and have everybody comfortably inside it for the gift exchange. For the holiday dinner, and for game night, we were delighted to find that when we used the leaf, the table was big enough for all of us to sit around. Unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough to enjoy the porch or the beach, but there was plenty to do without them. We've already booked our weekend for next December so that we can come back and do it all again!

Ted and Brenda are great to work with and thank you, for sharing your great place. The house is beautiful and would be great for any season. It is very peaceful. With our family size and ages, we also used additional two bedrooms. Great for all ages as it is handicapped assessable for two of the floors. Was great to all be togather and in a great place to relax, that we all put our cell phones and work computer in our bedrooms and not to touch for two days. Game room was great to bring everyone togather. With such a very competive group of people made for some long nights and lots of fun. Great dinning room table, as the first time we all could eat at one table.(16) Was a great first annual family Christmas, that we have already reserved for next year.

Our extended family of 17 recently returned from our stay at the Lodge House. After reading the reviews of the property prior, we were not disappointed upon our arrival. The house is absolutely beautiful, spotless and had all the necessities as promised. Our family ranged in age from 13 to 60, and all had a wonderful time. There was plenty of room for all throughout our stay and we very much enjoyed the game room which was big enough for our late night gatherings. Thankfully we spent a wonderful holiday together and definitely would plan another visit to the Lodge House. Thank you Ted and Brenda for your attention to detail prior to our visit and always available for our questions.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2010

About the owner: In the early 1980s we moved away from Michigan for jobs, settling in Maryland near Washington, DC where we raised our two wonderful children. As empty nesters, in the summer of 2008, we started what we thought would be a 5-year search for our dream retirement home back in Michigan, on a lake, halfway between Chicago and Detroit -- where all of Brenda's family have homes. In our very first house-hunting trip in June 2008 we came across a beautifully restored 1935 craftsman house on 3 acres; it exceeded our expectations in every conceivable way. It's a dream come true for us that in one short year became a mecca for family gatherings. In 2010 a 47-acre wooded parcel that surrounds the 3 acres became available and which included 150 feet of lake frontage...we were able to acquire it and build this brand new vacation Lodge House right on the water. We hope you will consider staying here at Stone Lake to build your own wonderful family memories. -- Ted & Brenda Gogol

                  Why the Owner Chose Cassopolis:
Cassopolis, Michigan with its two lakes -- Stone Lake and Diamond Lake -- is halfway between Chicago & Detroit...about 2.5 hours from either. Less drive time = more fun time. Why drive 5-6 hours?

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Here's what's most unique: The privacy and tranquility of a 47-acre wooded retreat with a private shoreline featuring a secluded, gentle-slope sandy beach upon which sits a 7-BR, 7.5-BA, 3,700 sq. ft. home that easily accommodates multiple families. Throw in a private dock with available Pontoon Boat, Kayaks, Row Boat, 8 Mountain Bikes -- and it's a recipe for a great week at the lake. The icing on the cake? Guests can walk to downtown Cassopolis' restaurants & watering holes...and within 15-20 minutes by car are a plethora of other great restaurants. The Lodge House is 40-minutes from Notre Dame / South Bend and 45 minutes from Four Winds Casino. Numerous Golf Courses are nearby as are many Wineries which offer tours.
