We loved our stay in the cozy Scananavian cottage. It was absolutely perfect for us. Exactly what we wanted to escape to during our winter break. The cabin was even better than we expected and had all the amenities we needed--wifi, tv, bath/shower, heaters, wood burning stove, full working kitchen, plus lots of quaint details. The setting was gorgeous and the town adorable. Everyone in the small town was friendly and the restaurants were delicious. We even found a great place to do yoga, and buy some unique art. The owners were very helpful and accommodating.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ridgeway cabin. Although it takes about 20 minutes of driving on a dirt road to reach it, once there it was a cozy and charming alternative to a hotel. Surrounded by ponderosa pines and aspens, the wood burning stove kept us toasty warm at night. Joyce's folk art and fully equipped kitchen made meals at home a delight. Day trips to Telluride, Ouray, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison were easy and worthwhile. Our 5 nights at the cabin was a delightful pause in our 3 week CO road trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here very much. It's the perfect location to enjoy all that the San Juan Mountains have to offer. The owners were very accomodating and even had a bottle of wine waiting for us in celebration of our anniversary. This sure beats staying in a hotel around lot's of other people - We can do that in the city. I didn't expect to have wireless internet in the middle of nowhere, but we did. We were even able to watch our video footage from the day on the flat screen TV located in the loft. We would definitely stay here again and will certainly recommend it to our friends. Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We had a marvelous time at this cabin. It was the two of us and our pets. We could have easily brought our two children along, too. The loft is a great bonus space for kids to hang out and watch the nice collection of DVDs. The cabin was perfect - comfortable, clean, and all that a Colorado mountain cabin should be. We hiked the county road to the national forest land, we snow shoed the nearby Top of the Pines trails, we visited the Ouray Ice Festival, we spent an evening at Ridgway's True Grit cafe (watching the Broncos beat the Steelers), and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our three night stay. We will be coming back! If you chose to stay here....you will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It was perfectly and efficiently appointed. The perfect size for our small family. We cooked a lot of our meals and all supplies were close at hand. The wood stove was plenty of heat. The girls loved staying in the loft. And, the Netflix-enabled DVD player in the loft occupied the girls when everyone needed some downtime. We raided the game trunk and had an ongoing UNO challenge each night. A very nice neighbor loaned us their sleds and we had a great day of sledding at a nearby hill. We took the snow shoes over to Top of the Pines for a few hours of exploring. It was only a 5 min drive from the cabin and the views are amazing!! We like the cabin's location because it is far enough out of town to feel secluded. We have stayed in the town of Ridgway before. It's a great location because it's an easy drive to other towns such as Ouray, Silverton, Telluride and Montrose. Our 13 year old daughter commented that everyone in Ridgway is so friendly. We have always found that to be true. The owner were no exception. Joyce was super accommodating. She answered all of our questions prior to booking, showed us around the cabin upon arrival and checked in on us the afternoon before our departure. Nearby activities that we would recommend: - snowshoeing at Top of the Pines: the views are incredible. - San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours and Snow Adventures: Greg took us up Red Mountain where we enjoyed snowmobiling, sledding, the zip line and a ride in the snow cat. We had a blast!!! - Kendall Mountain Ski resort: This was the perfect place for our daughter to ski. She is a beginner and the slopes were perfect for her ability. It's a great family ski area but also has sledding and ice skating. - Ouray: The scenery in this town is amazing. It's a small town with a lot of charm. - Telluride: A great ski town. Even if you aren't a skier, take the free gondola ride and enjoy the beautiful views. Lots of great shops, cafes and restaurants.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

You know you have found the perfect place to spend your long awaited vacations when you have to come back three months later and bring your family with you. The cabin was just as comfortable for four as it was for two. Joyce is an excellent hostess as the house was clean, extra towels were stocked and the beautiful snow capped mountains were the last thing we saw at night and the first thing in the morning. The drive in and out each day to our ATV destination added to the cabins alure. Deer, wildflowers and those mountains. Thank you Joyce for going out of your way for us. We will see you in mid July 2012. We recommend the cabin for its convenience, warmth, cost, and of course scenery.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

Not just a place to lay our heads at night even though that was what we were looking for. If you "need" a central location to explore Ouray, Ridgeway and the Black Canyon at an affordable rate and "want" beautiful scenery, to relax on a deck while deer graze without care, comforts of home amenities (even WiFi), cool breezes and warm quilts at the end of day to be rested and ready to do it all over again and host that leave nothing to chance to insure an excellent experience. Our expectations, based on the listing description were not just met but exceeded. Our eight days spent at the cabin consisted of early morning breakfast, late night dinners, showers and sleep. Our days were spent exploring ATV Trails with staging areas no more than twenty minutes from the cabin. The location is excellent for shopping or exploring. Plenty of room in the driveway to leave our trailer. One note. You may want to bring groceries with you as there is limited grocery stores and no fast food. Thank goodness the cabin's kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We are returning to Colorado and to the cabin this September and bringing my brother and his wife with us. So yes, without reservation we recommend this cabin to anyone who needs or wants the Colorado experience.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: What a kind review! We also have nothing but praise for the wonderful guests that have stayed at our cabin through VRBO. Everyone treats the place with such care. It is a pleasure for us to share the delightful little cabin with others who appreciate it as much as we do. There is a very good little grocery store in Ridgway, 20 minutes from the cabin, Mountain Market. The deli is excellent...the prices aren't bad for a mountain town, a lot of the prices are the same as City Market. Also, there are some decent restaurants and a Subway. We love Thai Paradise. Panny's pizza is very quick and friendly. Colorado Boy Brewery has good pizza, too. Ridgway is a great town to slow down a little and enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air.

Drive one direction and you'll pass gorgeous ranches on your way to Telluride, to ski or just ride the free trams up the mountain to do some fun shopping. Drive the other way, and go have a cowboy night out at The Outlaw Restaurant in the hopping historic western town, Ouray Colorado. Or drive into downtown Ridgway and have brunch at the True Grit, before you visit the antique and artsy shops all over town. Or just stay "home" and enjoy the gorgeous mountain views, the great hiking any time of year, and the beauty and peaceful atmosphere this cabin exudes! The owners are very helpful in making your visit a great one. We loved this part of Colorado, and especially this great place!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.
