Punta Banda house description

January and February and sometimes March have all 3 seasons! We think summer here is just about perfect, but winter time is a horse of a different color -- fewer people, great weather, the perfect place to read, cook a gourmet meal (or have it catered!) and just kick back and enjoy. Wine country is close, golf is close, lots of things to do and see. And our rates are lower -- only $200-250/night -- and we don't raise them for holidays. February brings Carnaval -- Ensenada's own Mardi Gras celebration, very local and lots of fun. Whale watching has begun, boats go out daily and the whales seem to be abundant this year. Spring brings great wine tastings and dinners in the Guadalupe Valley, fresh veggies at the local markets and lots of things to see and do.
A beautiful property on a long sandy beach, swimming is perfect, surfing is so-so. To find the many attractions in this area, google Ensenada or Punta Banda and you will be amazed. La Bufadora is close by, hot springs on the beach are an easy stroll away, the Guadalupe Valley offers wine tours and tastings, great restaurants in Ensenada along with a new art museum and tons of shopping, from curios to beautiful clothes, leather goods and other items.

This property is perfect for families on vacation, friends who want to get together, or couples who want a great place to get away for a romantic holiday. We have recently had a family on sabbatical from a university located in cold country; they were here for 6 months, enrolled their children in the local schools to learn Spanish, and are reluctantly heading back to snow!

Fun shopping in Ensenada or at La Bufadora, much less hustle and bustle. Then come home, light the gas fire, watch the city lights and sip a little wine or a nice cup of tea.

                      • The wine country is just north of Ensenada, about an hour's drive away. It's a beautiful drive, lots of wineries to see and lots of wine to buy. Tide pools and mini hot spring close by. Bring your canoe or boat, jet ski, or Seadoos (sp?). La Bufadora is 15 minutes away, local health center offers yoga and other eastern style exercises, as well as massages that have everyone raving about them. Daily Zumba classes also held locally.During August, the Vendimia, a yearly wine festival with numerous events revolving around food and wine, are extremely popular; many sell out early. Golf is available at the Baja Country Club, a 20 minute drive and at Bajamar, about an hour north of Ensenada. Tide pools and a natural hot spring are close by; you can walk down, take a shovel and make your own hot tub! Take the kids to Las Cañadas water park (google it!) for water sports and zip lining . . . adult friendly as well!...moreless

Great location on the spit. Right on the beach, a nice gentle sloping beach with smallish waves. Good swimming beach (many Baja beaches are dangerous, not so here) but there are a couple surf breaks a short walk up or down the beach. House was great. Huge upstairs master bedroom + 2 others, 3 nice bathrooms, 2 balconies and big deck. Excellent parking. Great Views. Everything you could want including fast wireless internet, DirectTV, big, fully equipped kitchen. Owner, Linda, was fantastic: great communication and easy payment transactions. She took care of all our needs. Really an absolute pleasure and great place to say. Highly Recommended! 5 Stars.

We travel on holiday almost exclusively through some kind of house rental agency. Often the photos do not represent the property as it truly is. These photos represent the lovely beach cottage to a Tee! It is so light and airy. A mix of East/West Coast Beach Cottage. Everywhere you look is the ocean. There is an Estuary on the backside to see an abundance of wildlife. The kitchen has everything you ever need to fix a gourmet dinner for 10. You just walk off the porch, take 20 steps and voila the beach. The beach is fabulous, a few miles of perfect, flat sand. You just dig a hole and you have your own hot tub! No kidding. It's very peaceful, but plenty to do in the surrounding area. Horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, biking, swimming, surfing, fishing and on and on! The weather was perfect. We'll be back!

Owner response: Thank you so much, it was a pleasure having you as guests at Barefoot at the Beach! Come back soon (we have NO snow!)

Very enjoyable stay at Playa Dorada in the Punta Banda area. The description accurately reflects the 3 bedroom beach house. It's clean and the location is great! The long sandy beach is perfect for morning walks and the water is warm! We had fun with the kayaks. Wi-Fi worked great. We took our laptops and stayed in contact with friends and family. We visited the "Bufadora" nearby for an activity ... It was fun. Also tasted wines at the Santo Tomas Winery a half hour drive away. Very impressive...and good wines. Overall its a very relaxing place, wish we had spent more time there and less of our vacation in other areas. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a hassle free getaway.

Best family vacation ever! The location, home, amenities were beyond our expectations. Horseback riding on the beach, walking to restaurants, seeing La Bufadora (the worlds 2nd largest marine geyser), finding the most beautiful shells, wading through tide pools filled with life, kayaking on the calm estuary behind the house (kayaks were at the house), boogie boarding on small waves in front of the house (again with boogie boards that were at the house) - we wanted to stay for ever. My 5 year old son and my 87 father had an equally fantastic time. We will be back for sure!

My partner and I, along with our good friend just spent five days at Linda and Ron's place. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming and helpful! A calm and peaceful beach is literally right outside the door. We had a great time just kicking back, and the house provided us with everything we needed-- boogie boards, kayaks, 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles, shampoo, extra blankets, you name it! The house has three bedrooms, including the master suite upstairs. It is the perfect choice for two couples or an entire clan.

Stayed this past weekend and had the most amazing time! The house is beautiful and very clean. You can not beach the location directly on the beach. The kayaks were great, as was the porch for sitting outside to soak in the sun. You MUST have Joan come to cook a meal. She served up a delicious brunch on Sunday. One of the best memories on vacation to date. Great tacos shops 10 minutes away and of course Ensenada is about 30 minutes. Thanks for the memories!

My boyfriend and I along with another couple stayed at this beautiful beach mansion last weekend and it was a dream come true!!! The pictures don't even do it any justice!!! This house is absolutely gorgeous, the beds were comfortable with luxurious linens, the bathrooms were beautiful with tiled showers and baths, the three decks had wonderful views of the ocean and the gourmet kitchen was so much fun to cook in!! The beach was very secluded and private and we bought clams from a local fisherman right off of our patio deck which we grilled later that night. The drive down the coast from San Diego was very easy and safe and we were pleased with the local tamale shops and markets in the area. We had dinner one night at the Marina down the street from the house and it was delicous, but we mostly stayed at the house and cooked in the amazing kitchen and marveled at our views!! We can't wait to come back for another vacation!!

Owner response: You all were terrific guests and we can't wait for you to come back! I'm really glad you liked the kitchen (Heidi!) -- and the private clam service.

I was in Mexico for a team trip with some of our BMX/Skate guys. A few days in and around the Mexicali area and we were ready for something a bit more relaxing. This place provided exactly that. I can't convey how much better this place looks in real life. The pictures really do not do it justice. The owners went above and beyond for us, even baking us fresh brownies while we were there! We actually arrived late, having to backtrack and take a different road down. We arrived at 1am and the owners were very welcoming, even after arriving a lot later than we had anticipated. We arrived with 2 flat tires and were quickly told how to get them fixed for the cheapest price. A quick walk over to their place and the owners were glad to tell us how to get around and where to buy what for a good price. I definitely hope to find another time to rent out this property again, as the short time we spent there was very memorable. Whoever rents this place is getting an incredible deal!

What an awesome house, location and beach to enjoy Mexico. We were overjoyed to see a house with so much room and open design. Anywhere in the house we had a wonderful view of the beach and ocean. We were close to the breaking waves which gave us a peaceful feeling when going to sleep. The beach was all sand, no rocks to walk on or avoid.... I've been to many beaches in the states.. this beach is better than most of them. If you want to sit in hot spings on the beach you can do that. If you want to ride a horse, they have them. Walking or running, I think you can go for 6 miles, its a long way. So really we didn't want to or need to leave the beach house and spend money out in town, we were fine just playing in the sand, using the kayaks and boggy boards. All the beds were well maintained, showers worked well, plenty of water and the kitchen was fully stocked for our cooking needs. We really found a great place to come back to for our summer vacation. Thanks Linda and Ron for sharing your house with us. Dan, Lani, Danny and Brady

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: We have lived here, on and off, for over 25 years and still find it ideal. The weather is great, the ocean is ever changing, the people are terrific and the choices of things to do is never ending. We bought this property as a rental and our eventual home (first we have to pay it off!) and we live just down the street.

Why the Owner Chose Punta Banda:
Punta Banda is a perfect family beach area; the beach is shallow for quite a way, the waves are gentle and occasionally even offer something for surfers. Our family has enjoyed vacations here for years and we hope other families can have the same experience. But, this is not just a 'family' house, it's a great place for that reconnection weekend you and your significant other have talked about for ages, it's a fun house to entertain friends, great for house parties (notice, we did not say 'drunken brawls') and it's the perfect place to visit alone when you're stressed out from the normal world. We can feel cares slipping away as we cross the border.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love ending the day with a glass of wine on one of the two the decks overlooking the ocean, going out early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the estuary, bike riding along the beach and watching people just kicking back and enjoying life. The fireplace provides a cozy spot on cooler days, and big glass doors open to allow breezes to flow through on warmer days. The beach is perfect for our grandchildren, who are now ages 4 months to 23 years -- hard to beat that! Dolphins in the evenings, pelicans all day, sea gulls scrapping overhead, little skittering birds along the water all provide entertainment. For some world class meals, Ensenada is close by. Local restaurants come and go and some are perfect for a day after the beach. They currently offer everything from good Mexican food to pizza to fish so fresh that it smiles up at you. If you want to do nothing, there are movies to watch on the DVD player, books galore to read in the 'library' aka the bunk room, and lots of places for navel gazing and contemplation! We are available anytime should you need information or a fast repair or toilet paper or whatever.
