Stone Ridge chateau / country house description
This is a truly unique property in the heart of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. When you pull off of the main road, and drive over the creek and through the woods, you know you’ve left the city behind. The house combines modern furnishings and amenities with rustic architecture--set on a secluded country road within 2.5 beautifully landscaped fenced-in acres. The property features a beautifully refreshing and private inground gunite saline pool, surrounded by stone walls. This sunny three-bedroom contemporary with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and hand-crafted wood detailing. It has a living room and family room, a full kitchen, decks on both levels, a two-car garage, and an expansive yard. Watch a movie on the 42-inch flat-screen TV, play Wii Sports, or surf the Web on the broadband Wi-Fi connection. The house is also baby-friendly, with a crib, toys, books, baby bath, and child-safety gate at the stairs. It is the perfect getaway for couples and families.
Located in Ulster County, the house is 2 hours from the George Washington Bride and 15 minutes from the New York State Thruway. It is also less than 30 minutes from shopping, dining, and culture in New Paltz, Rosendale, Kingston, and High Falls.
This is an area for all seasons. In summer, take a swim in our in-ground saline pool. In fall, pick apples at the Stone Ridge Orchard and do some grade-A leaf peeping. In winter, you have skiing at Balleayre and Hunter mountains, sledding, and snowshoeing. You are also minutes from the famous Mohonk Mountain House, golf courses, and Shawagunk Mountain. Spend your days hiking or biking one of the many area trails, trout fishing in the Esopus Creek, wine tasting at local vineyards, exploring the upscale shops and restaurants of Stone Ridge and High Falls, or just kicking back on the huge deck and enjoying the quiet. In the evening, cook a great meal in the big kitchen or the Jenn-Air gas grill and relax by the fire. Watch the stars come out next to the pond, listening to the crickets, bullfrogs, and barn owls. Once you’ve spent a week or month here, you won’t want to leave!

perfect winter get-away
perfect winter get-away
We had a wonderful time at this property for a mid-winter recess. The house is large, (larger than the photos would suggest), easily accommodates 6-8, and has EVERYTHING you might need, including lots of equipment/toys/chairs for toddlers. It was very clean, all the systems like heating were in perfect order. The main floor is on the upper deck, and thus the views are fantastic on the surrounding woods. The house is on a small hill far from any main road, so its very quiet and serene. The whole area is magnificent any season of the year, but with winter snow, its particularly pretty. we saw many dear in the area. The house is close to the ski resorts in the area, and to many of the Hudson Valley attractions. The property manager is amazing, would respond to any questions by email of phone within minutes, and the owners were generous and helpful. We highly recommend it.

Had a perfect weekend. Not a single problem with the house, and Bruce was an excellent property manager, and was available via phone to answer questions. The owner was flexible about dogs (with extra deposit). The house is fully stocked, extremely comfortable, great living room for a large group to enjoy a movie by the fire.

beautiful and spacious yet cozy home
beautiful and spacious yet cozy home
I stayed here with several friends for a yoga retreat and birthday weekend, and we could not have chosen a better place. The home has plenty of space for a small group. Clean, well maintained, bright, with lots of places to relax and enjoy each other's company. We loved hanging out on the wrap-around deck, the ground floor deck while grilling, around the fire pit, and just cooking and enjoying long meals with all 8 of us at the dining room table. The place is also very child and family friendly. Describing the place, I would use these words: sun-filled, high ceilings, spacious yet warm and cozy, nicely decorated with good lighting (lights that dim, candles, etc), not cluttered (what's the word to describe that? there's not too much and not too little in the way of furniture and decor - owners have good taste), beautiful property in the woods. Amenities included. The property manager checked in, was available, but wasn't intrusive. Just perfect. I would highly recommend this place. One small tip: if you are staying here, I would recommend paying particular attention to the garbage instructions (which are particular because of wildlife) and know what to separate and how before you start enjoying your time in the space. The place to take out the recycling is not on the property itself, but down the road. We definitely plan to return! Thank you!

A favortie getaway
A favortie getaway
Our family truly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful home. The property is as spacious as it is beautiful! Our children had plenty of space to play in the yard, and were mesmerized watching the fish and bullfrogs in the small pond. The large pool was refreshing, not freezing. With so much outdoor space, we didn't spend much time indoors except to prepare food, or in the evenings. The lantern lit ambiance outside made evening meals on the balcony feel magical. The beds were comfy. The house was clean. The kitchen has plenty of counter space for preparing meals with several people working at the same time. We loved the overall style of home, sort of clean, funky modern. We liked having the laundry very accessible. that comes in handy with a house full of people! Also, with such a comfortable and relaxing setting we found very little reason to venture off the property, except to grab groceries, or go for a hike in the surrounding area. It was a prefect, relaxing getaway for us... which is a rare find with two active children in tow.

My family stayed at this lovely home last weekend and found everything perfect. The house was clean, ready for the stay and fully equipped. It is a very quiet and secluded spot. Perfect place for a tranquil get away yet close to all the attractions of Stone Ridge, High Falls and Woodstock. We would recommend to all. We did not have young children visit but the chalet is very ready for that as well.

Great family vacation
Great family vacation
we just returned from a relaxing and fun week at this lovely vacation home. The home is very clean and family friendly. The grounds are so beautiful and peaceful. There were some lovely surprises like a hammock in a quiet shady area for afternoon naps and a fire pit for evening campfires and smores! We also loved the two outdoor dining areas. Of course the pool was amazing!!! The inside was super clean and had warm comfortable feel. The kitchen was well stocked and had plenty of space for cooking. We also appreciated the thoughtfulness of the owners. They leave very friendly instructions for using the home. They also provided some travel toiletries in each bathroom. This was a first for us as very regular vacation home renters and thought it was a nice touch, We also appreciated the property manager Bruce. He called to make sure we arrived alright and checked to make sure everything was fine. I have rented places with issues before and there was no one to contact or if there was a contact person they never bothered to return calls etc. It was a relief to know we could contact him for any issues. The home was in a nice private secluded area but still close enough to town for groceries etc. The town of Stone Ridge has an awesome grocery store. Overall we would recommend this home especially for families. My son can't wait to go back to "his" vacation home in the mountains.

We initially had some trouble finding the property in the dark due to unlit roads and no clear directions. However once we found it we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the property and the grounds. The house was clean and tidy and the kitchen well equipped. The setting is beautiful and the pool an added bonus though there were problems with the pool that was cloudy and needed attention which it eventually got several days into our stay which then took 24 hours to rectify. The ground floor of the house obviously suffers from damp and despite leaving the dehumidifier on all day the floor reamined damp and it had a damp musty smell to it. There are no curtains in the main bedroom downstairs but fortunately you are not overlooked! Overall we enjoyed our stay but htese issues do need to be resolved.

Owner response: Hi, Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry you did not find your stay as enjoyable as possible. Part and parcel to the house being in a quiet spot off of the main road is taking a few turns to get there. We give every guest very detailed directions to the house before arrival and are always available by phone to help guide you if you get lost. Also, we should note that the house is thoroughly cleaned after every tenant and personally inspected by our property manager. Bruce is on call at any hour to address concerns and problems, and our pool technician is a 10-minute drive from the house (and equally responsive when notified promptly about an issue). All systems (including HVAC, climate control, etc.) are serviced and maintained by professionals every season. The house is extremely important to our family, and we make every effort to ensure that it is maintained impeccably and guests enjoy it just as much as we do. Thanks, Erik, Tiffany, Ben, and Heather

Perfect family get away
My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at this property with our 2 kids and the in-laws. It is a serene setting that helped us all relax, and is comfortable in every respect. Perfect fall get away and definitely want to come back during the summer to use the pool that we could see from the side window hidden away from everything. Definitely recommend for family vacations or couples looking for a romantic getaway.
