We came back from our stay feeling very content. We had a great stay, made all the better by this homely and cozy little apartment and the great owners who are warm, friendly, welcoming and very knowledgable about the city and the local surroundings. In addition you can hire their 4WD at a reasonable price with minimum hassle and you get extra drivers and baby/child seats chucked in for free. They recommended two day excursions, one up North to a partic peninsular - we saw Killer whales, ate rotten shark , watched seals , and drove in spectacular landscapes - a day i will always remember. They also recommended Smokey Valley - a 3 km walk to a place where you can bathe in the stream - 38 degrees. fantastic and again very unforgettable. Whilst In R, you have to swim everyday - visit Pool at Aftenes - fantastic facility. There is a local pool to the apartment aswell. Its a fantastic country. The apartment is well equipped - we ate in every day to keep costs down. For Kids, both city and country are fantastic experiences. All kids under 11 are basically free in museums etc. The apartment is simple but tasteful - not over the top, decorated tastefully, good beds, all kitchen equipment you need. 5-10 min walk to centre of town.Did you find this review helpful? The appartment is a nice, well equiped two bedroom appartment with very friendly flexible and helpfull owners, who live above. We stayed here for a week with our kids (7 and 9) to explore some of the touristic scenes around Reykjavik, while one of us had to work for a couple of days. The appartment is a good base for daytrips by car (we did Gullfoss, Geissir, Thingvalir and the Blue Lagoon), but close enough to the city centre to walk there. The environment is quiet and very close to a local pool to go for a regular swim. Also a grossery store and a simple restaurant are very nearby. Extra features were the toys and books in the appartment to give the kids something extra to do, while we were in the appartment. We will definitely come back some day.Owner response: Thanks for the nice review ! We would love to have you guys back some day ...

We stayed several days in the apartment and felt like at home! The apartment was very clean and got everything we needed if we wanted to eat at home or do the laundry. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms dark enough to sleep well even in Summer. Our 4 years old boy had is own bedroom and was happy to find some toys for him when we arrived. It is very well located if you want to go to the city center on foot. There were a bakery 3 minutes walk which makes very good bread and if you rent a car there are full of free parking space just next to the house. The owners were very nice and helpful, they arranged for a 2 a.m. check-in and gave us a ride to the domestic airport at our departure. I definitely recommend this apartment and we would go back there in case of a new visit to Reykjavik!Owner response: Thanks for the very nice review ! Much appreciated :) Pall and Dagrun

On our way to Germany for the Christmas vacation, we decided to stop over in Iceland. The city was cold and dark of course (being December), but it was also very unique with food we've never tried before and wonderful customs and traditions. We stayed at this home with our toddler and it was just what we needed. The space was the right size and it was well kept. The owners had kids themselves and generously lent us toys and a sled to tug our little toddler around town. He loved it! It's pricey in Iceland so we enjoyed grocery shopping at the market and stores and then cooking food at the home. The location was perfect. I recommend staying here because of the friendly owners, the convenient location and the great price.Owner response: Thanks for the nice review !

I can't say enough how lucky we have been to stay in this apartment. The place is great, well located, quiet neighborhood. The owners were so welcoming and gave us some excellent trip advices during our stay, and even before getting to Iceland. We arrived very early in the morning (family of 5, 3 preschool kids) and the place was all ready for us. Our daughter was just 5 months old and the owners provided us with a baby crib, a high chair, movies for the kids! Plus, we had the opportunity to rent their car which was very convenient to visit the surroundings of Reykjavik. We are looking forward to visit Iceland again and this apartment is definitely where we are going to stay!Owner response: We thank you for the kind words. It makes us happy to see other people happy. So it is a win-win scenario :)

Whilst the property is in a quiet part of town there is a lot of noise from upstairs (walking, running etc) and we were woken early most mornings as the family prepared for work. The property was ok but in need of a bit of an overhaul and deep clean. Black out blinds on the windows would be good considering it was bright 24 hours a day. We loved Iceland but would not stay in this property again and would choose more carefully next time. The location is good, very near town and Iceland is a fantatstic place to visit and we thoroughly recommend it to others.Owner response: Thank you for your feedback and observation. We are sorry to hear that your stay was a disappointment. It is very important to us that our guests have a welcome and a good stay. Your experience comes as a surprise to us as we always ask our guests if everything was ok and that has always been the case. Regarding the noise from us going to work and school we always try to minimize it. We usually wake up around 8 o‘clock and are out of the house around 8:30. We will consider this very carefully and emphasize with our boys to be more quiet and consider our guests. We clean the apartment thoroughly before each guest arrives and this is the first time we experience anything else. We will go over the whole apartment and ensure all functionality and check that everything is in good working order. Your point about black out blinds is a good one. We do have black out roller curtains in all windows in the bedrooms, but some light does enter at the edges of the curtains and the nights are not pitch black in the bedrooms during the summer. Still this is darker than in most Icelandic bedrooms :) We really would have preferred if you would have let us know personally before you left that you were not satisfied and we would gladly have given you some refund as compensation. Have a nice life ! Kind regards, Pall and Dagrun

We were very warmly welcomed by Pall and Dagrun. In fact renting from them was so easy before we even arrived in Iceland. I was in Reykjavik to run the Marathon, and they both had ran it in the past, and were full helpful advice. They loaned me their son's cell phone to use as an alarm clock (since I had not realized nothing I brought would work). They also offered to show my family around the course to cheer me on. The apartment is perfectly located near the course. Pall even came out on his bicycle and rode along for my 23rd mile. The apartment has a great little kitchen with everything we needed, a dishwasher and laundry. All very clean. It was more cozy than my home, with a large TV, and my daughter enjoyed the collection of books. It is a basement apartment- don't let that concern you! It is sunny and has high ceilings. On online maps, the apartment may seem distant from downtown, but really it's a short walk downhill to the Austurvöllur. It was great refuge after the marathon! We'll definitely be back in Iceland, and I'll be renting Lindarbrekka Apartment again. Thank you for treating us like family!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dagrun and Pall were so welcoming and helpful with information. The house is very cute, the apartment extremely quiet so good for sleeping, and we really liked that it was in a neighborhood away from the busy sections. We were able to park the car close by all of the time we were there, which was great. It was a very short walk to all places we wanted to go in town, and Pall and Dagrun were very kind to let us check in at 9 a.m. when we arrived from the airport so we could sleep. The apartment was very clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room and privacy for 4 people. We were especially happy that it had a washer and dryer and a pretty large bathroom. While it is not a fancy apartment, it is very homey and comfortable and had everything we needed --we felt like we were staying with friends. All in all, a super great bargain in Reykjavik and we will definitely stay there again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had a very comfortable stay at Pall and Dagrun's place as part of our summer holidays. When booking the apartment I wasn't sure if it was perhaps too far from the city center to make it truly 'walking accessible' but it was extremely well located. The first street with restaurants was less than a 10 minute walk and the main city center was less than 15 minutes. Our young son very much enjoyed the apartment as well. There were lots of toys for him to play with and he had his own room with a baby cot as well as a high chair. Really a perfect choice if you want a place which is big enough for a family. The owners were very kind and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their son even babysat for us one evening so my husband and I could go out for a romantic dinner on the last night of our stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
