Hebgen Lake house description
The yellow house on the Madison River is located half way between Ennis Montana and the town of West Yellowstone Montana. Each town is 35 miles from the yellow house. The town of Ennis Montana is an old ranchers town that was founded in the 1800's. Only a few miles from Ennis is the town of Virginia City that was the home of one of the biggest placer gold strikes in early american history. Virginia City was also established in the 1800's and was Montana's first state capital. Virginia City and Nevada City which is two or three miles west of Virginia City are noted for their preservation as ghost towns filled with early American history. There are also many other ghost towns in the surrounding area in Montana.
West Yellowstone town is located at the west entrance to Yellow Stone National Park. West Yellowstone has many shops and restaurants as well as the Playmill Theater where college kids come from around the United States to perform broadway plays during the summer.
The yellow house is in a great location with access to so many things that it would be impossible to list them in few paragraphs. There is every type of recreational activity at your fingertips as well as the solitude of being in the mountains, lakes and rivers. The Madison Valley also has many large active ranches that gives the area that feeling of cowboys and early american history. At different times in the year the local ranchers move their cows in the traditioal style. You might find yourself caught up in a cattle drive as you are driving into town.
Animal life is abundant in the Madison Valley with eagles year around and osprey that migrate north to raise their young in the summer. There are elk, moose, deer, ram horn sheep, antelope, lots of cows and small animals such as badgers, mountain goats and wolf. We had a badger that was living under the house for several years. We closed up the entrance that he had made and he has since moved on. We have two beaver dams within visual distance. Fishing is great right off the deck, along the banks of the river, in the river or from float trips that are available for recreation or advanced fly fishing.
Keywords: This home is a land mark on the Madison River. It is 7 miles north of Quake Lake and Hebgin Lake. It is 5 miles from the 287 North and Hwy 87 junction if driving from Idaho. Driving from the north it is located 35 miles from Ennis. The home is noted for it's unique architecture with a turret entry and a silow attached to the garage on the south end of the home.

Year Purchased: 1967
About: Our family has owned this property since 1967. Attached is a photo of my son with a nice catch for dinner. We also own the property located next door which is VRBO Listing # 390628. If this home is booked for your planned vacation dates please check the other listing for availability.
Why Hebgen Lake:
Our family had been spending summer vacations on Hebgen Lake for 20 years between 1947 and 1967. In 1967 my father bought this property on the Madison River 12 miles Northwest of Hebgen and started a building project that lasted another 20 years. Our entire family has loved this spot since the day we bought it. We own another property near by so we decided to share this one with other interested people that are looking to see, enjoy and experience the magnificent beauty of Montana.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home is the perfect place to rest and read a book or go out and spend your energies doing the things you have dreamed about. The home is an early American western styled home with the unique qualities only a contractor with 60 years experience could come up with. During the summer when it gets a little warm you can walk out on the deck and feel the cool air as it flows up from the river. If you like to fish this is a renowned location. If you like side trips you could spend years seeing all of the things within driving distance. Or if you just want to kick back and enjoy yourself this is the place to do it.
