Once you enter this beautiful 3 level mountain chalet you will be blown away by the long range mountain views. The house sits on 3 acres, nestled amongst the aspens and the pines and looks right at Steamboat mountain. Minutes away from the slopes and town. When you step through the front door, you feel like you have retreated to your own mountain paradise. Although the home is over 7000 Square feet, all the wood and stone will make it feel cozy and warm. The interior was just finished in 2008, and it boast all the refined finishes you would expect. Slate entry with access to the mud room and garage. Separate divided light doors allow entry to the extensive antique wood flooring that covers this level. Extensive cherry wood and multiple fireplaces. The house is oriented to take full advantage of the light available during the day and the city lights at night. The home has central air conditioning and heat. The layout is perfect for multiple families or a large family reunion. Any occasion will be a special occasion in our comfortable mountain retreat.
To the right when you pass through the glass doors is a large granite center island with an oversized Viking gas cook top. All new stainless appliances, mostly Viking. Double ovens, a whisper quiet dishwasher more than handles the load, a separate ice maker and large frig. The extensive granite prep surfaces and multiple sinks, make this a chefs dream come true. Cherry wood cabinets with glass doors frame the large bar top area with plenty of seating for the breakfast crowd. Of course the mountain views from the kitchen are to die for. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dramatic dining room with plenty of seating for 10 and an additional end table to bring the comfortable crowd to 14. The dining adjoins the living room, where overstuffed comfortable chairs and couch invite you to drink wine and talk all night.
Enjoy the night, or the beautiful fireplace, or catch up on the events in Steamboat on the TV. A large wrap around deck invites you to come out and watch the elk cross the meadow or gaze at the stars at night. A stainless steel grill complements whatever food prep was not done in the kitchen. The wet bar provides any beverages you might enjoy while enjoying each others company. The fireplace can also be enjoyed in the den, which has its own seating area. I prefer to watch the large screen TV and the fireplace, glance over at the mountain and sip a glass of wine. But there are two desk in the den, for those who want to catch up on a little work in paradise. Unlimited wireless internet and free phone make it easy to accomplish most any task. You can always escape out to the deck when you need a break. The den also enjoys a full bath.
When you ascend to the next level, you will be welcomed by two master suites. Both have amazing views with outside decks. The larger master has its own sitting room, a cozy fireplace and a more than ample bath. The mattress on this king size bed is the most comfortable one I have ever slept on. The bathroom has a double headed shower with its own steam generator, a separate Jacuzzi tub and double sinks. The second master has a great bathroom, a closet large enough to be called a nursery and a native wood bed with matching desk. Again, I spared no expense on the mattress, so that your sleep will leave you ready for the next days events.
Everyone's favorite room is the game room. When you enter, you will find it has its own bathroom and alcove with candy machines. As you submerge yourself into this play ground, you will find a 9 1/2 foot home theater with plenty of seating for your crowd. The pool table and 6 person poker table are adjacent to the L shaped bar which boast granite tops, its own frig and wine cooler and a separate ice maker. Just outside is a great deck with a private spa. I have seen plenty of curious deer come up and check out the action as I sooth my tired muscles with the massaging water and look at Mt Werner.
The decent downstairs brings you to a great room for kids or adults alike. It has its own kitchen, gaming 55 inch TV, couch, ping pong, a Murphy bed and bunk bed. This is truly a retreat for kids and parents. There is also a huge laundry room and a separate office. The Florida bedroom has an inviting queen bed with the same mattress in the master, access to the lower deck and all the warmth of home. The bunk room leaves you feeling like you have truly experienced the ole west. You can easily sleep 10 in beds on this level. The house is set up wonderfully for 2 full families to enjoy. All rooms look at Steamboat mountain with the exception of the theater room. Steamboat boast some of the best trout fishing you will find. The ski mountain is incredible and the town has an old west feel.
There are endless summer activities including golf, fishing, mountain and road biking, horse riding, hiking (devil's causeway is my favorite in the flat tops), kayaking, rafting, tubing and the list goes on. The snow in the winter is champagne powder and the mountain cannot be beat.

My family and I spent 1 week at this mountain paradise in July. In a word - fantastic. The accomodations are great - neat and HUGE. The big screen TV and pool table were great hits with my kids. My wife and I loved the hot tub. The location is unbeatable - right at the base of the mountain - great for fishing, tubing and biking. Steamboat is a true escape. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. Will return ASAP!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

About the owner: I have been coming to Steamboat for many years and plan to retire in this very home. I bought the home for the great skiing and super people in Steamboat, but have enjoyed the summers even more. I am excited to share this amazing town and wonderful location. I have 2 children who love the area as well. I have as many friends in Steamboat, as I do in Florida, and I cannot wait for my next trip out. I have no doubt our home will be the perfect base for your Colorado adventures.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Dakota Ridge:
Steamboat is one of the friendliest cities I have ever been too. It offers unlimited outdoor activities. It is absolutely beautiful. The ski mountain is incredible as is the trout fishing. I love to hike, bike and golf here. There are dozens of wonderful places to eat and a great night life. The mountain offers tree and chute skiing, but is tame enough for the most beginning novice. Take the gondola up in the winter or summer. Ride your board down the mountain or your bike. Follow the trail of all the natural springs that gave this town its name or enjoy Howleson Hill, right in town. You can ski there, ski jump, go to the rodeo, or the skate board park or maybe the water slides or hike or bike. I think you are beginning to get the idea. Stagecoach Reservoir offers great fishing and biking as well as water skiing. Always fun to take a hike out to Hahn's Peak or Steamboat Lake. And definitely make time to go out to the natural hot springs at Strawberry Hot Springs. If you prefer, there is a community water complex right down town. Hiking or snowmobiling, up to Rabbit Ears Pass or Buffalo Pass will be an adventure to talk about for years to come. The Yampa River offers some of the best trout fishing, but there are plenty of guides if you are new to the waters that will ensure your catch.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It is close to everything, yet quiet. You can see elk and deer walk by on the property. The house is warm and inviting and there are things for kids of all ages to do including a gaming area, home theater, spa, steam shower, fireplaces, pool table, poker table, bar with ice maker, multiple seating areas, large dining table for big parties and endless views. The restaurants offer everything from sushi to elk. There is a path just outside the subdivision that is paved and runs along the Yampa River all the way to town. A favorite for biking, running and walking. We are close to tubing the Yampa or if you are up for more, Kayak it. River rafting is nearby as well. I challenge you to find something you cannot do within a few miles, and yes there is hot air ballooning.
