Previous guests have particularly enjoyed: our location; comfortable beds; 1100 sq. feet of spacious, well-decorated comfort; well-equipped kitchen; generous storage (pantry and closets); convenient beach access; proximity to premier island restaurants and attractions (i.e. Louis', Laguna Bob's, Tequila Sunset on the bay and Boomerang Billy's on the beach). Higher than average ceilings enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
This house originally belonged to one of the early developers of South Padre Island. It was moved off the beach and put up on concrete block stilts. We subsequently added the downstairs apartment.
Owners reserve the upstairs for our own use. Owner management eliminates costly management fees, resulting in competitive rates.

Comfortable and Convenient
Our first trip to South Padre and didn't want to stay in a Hotel/Condo. I feel that we lucked out finding this place at a reasonable price. The unit is well kept and clean. Everything worked like it was supposed to. The location is super! A half a block from the beach and lots of eateries near buy. A definite recommendation and we hope it will be available for our next trip!

We have stayed in hundreds of VRBO properties around the world. No need to stay in a hotel/motel. We resided in the property ten nights Christmas 2012 through New Years 2013. The positives of this property: Location. SPI is not large. This property is within 5 minutes of the bay side or the ocean side of the island. We walked to the beach each day from the property. SPI has numerous public access points to enter the beach. We wore our flip flops to the beach but you can also wear other shoes and leave them under a bench or carry them with you. The property is two blocks from all the eating establishments on the bay-side of the island and a block from the main street and shopping. Kitchen: Outdated and clean. The stove and oven require replacement. The stove is electric and not suitable for those with culinary skills. One rear stove burner did not operate and the oven door was in poor repair and HOT. Make sure to turn down the temperature at least 25 degrees in the oven or you will end up with charcoal as we did the first night. The kitchen is well supplied with utensils but we could not locate a sharp knife. If you do cook, make sure and purchase your own spices and seasonings. Very few properties provide spices/seasonings. Bedrooms. We stayed in only one of the two bedrooms. One has a small, outdated TV and the bedroom we stayed in does not have a TV. We are not TV watchers so it was not an issue. The bed was very low and not firm. Adequate closet space and drawer space for ten days. Bathrooms: One bathroom has a shower and one has a tub. We utilized the bathroom with the shower. Inadequate room to place any items on the bathroom counter. We stored all of our items under the sink. Large number of fresh towels. Washer/Dryer. This was very convenient since we stayed ten nights at the property. Upstairs noise: We enjoyed seven wonderful nights without anyone above us. The owners arrived to occupy the upstairs which was quite noisy. A clean and wonderful location for SPI.

Owner response: It sounds like overall you enjoyed your stay in our place, and I appreciate your positive comments. As for the kitchen: All the burners on the stove are working. I think that the housekeepers when cleaning nudge them loose or fail to re-seat them securely after cleaning. The current renters have not had problems with the oven. Culinary skills seem enhanced by gas cooking, but that is not available on the island. As for knives, there are several in one of the drawers along with a sharpening steel for your convenience when necessary. I am surprised that a couple of our friends stopping by to welcome us back to the island might be disturbing. We retired people are generally pretty quiet! Feedback on our place in paradise is appreciated.
This place was perfect for my family while we vacationed in South Padre for a week. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. This house is very well located on the island - just a few steps away from the beach access, shopping, and recreational activities.
