Our family of five recently returned to Minnesota from a week long stay at Retreat at Rum Point #24 and we keep asking ourselves why we came home. We had an amazing vacation and unit #24 at the Retreat is stunning. The pictures - although beautiful - don't do it justice as the interior, the location, and the views are simply gorgeous. We had our two young adult sons and one girlfriend with us. My husband and I absolutely loved having the penthouse master suite to ourselves at night. I could not get over the views that I got to wake up to every morning from two different sets of windows! The rest of the condo is so spacious and comfortable - we had many fun Boggle competitions after great days on/in the water. The snorkeling in front of the condo was great although I recommend having a dive flag with you as we saw some reckless waverunners (jet skis) zipping pretty fast right over the snorkel areas. Rum Point (steps away) was so much fun and the beach there was great. And I highly recommend the smoothies! In addition to enjoying the Retreat and Rum Point, we also did a tour with Six Senses to all the fun spots. Stingray City was a blast and should not be missed! We snorkeled the reef, toured the mangroves, stopped at Starfish Point and had lunch and Kaibo. We also went diving on another day, horseback riding (and horseback swimming!). On our last day we took a trip to Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach. Although the beach there was truly beautiful, that day trip made us grateful we chose to stay at the Retreat! Overall, I highly recommend this beautiful condo! The owner (Sally) was so helpful in answering all our questions. The onsite managers were also very helpful when we had questions. This was indeed a five-star experience!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was the most amazing trip my family has ever taken. The condo was absolutely gorgeous and had more than enough room for 6 of us. Rum Point is THE place to stay if you want a more relaxing, away from it all location. We snorkeled everyday and there was so much to see just steps away from the place. Kaibo Restaurant was so delicious and the upstairs, very romantic. Would definitely go back and recommend Rum Point, The Retreat, and specifically Unit #24 for your stay in Grand Caymen.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

If you are looking for the perfect vacation this is the place. More beautiful than the pictures, if you can believe it. The condo is immaculate with spectacular views, particularly the deck off the master bedroom. We drove all over Grand Cayman and I have to say this is the best location on the entire island. The snorkeling off Rum Point is outstanding, the beach bar and Red Sail Sports are right next door, and the Kaibo Bar & Restaurant are within walking distance a little over 1 mi away. As you walk East down the beach the reef gets progressively closer to shore, and you can swim out and have the current float you back to Rum Point. We saw sea turtles three different times near the reef and rays just off the rum point beach. We had great dinners at Kaibo, Rum Point, and Over the Edge, which is a short car ride along the North Side and has wonderful views off the back porch. The Tuesday night cookout at Kaibo features a great band and excellent buffet. The property owner is very attentive and provides a wealth of information on the island, the amenities, and the local sites and culture. Snorkeling gear is also available at the Retreat complex. This was our first trip to Grand Cayman and we could not have been more pleased--choose #24, you will not be disappointed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The listing description and photos are 100% accurate, this property is clean and comfortable. Owner was very helpful by sending advance info. on area, directions and places to see. Also, a complete notebook with more info. in condo. We enjoyed snorkeling, scuba diving, the Turtle Farm, "Hell", shopping in Georgetown and walking around Camana Bay. Restaurants we loved were Sunday Brunch at Tukka and dinner at the Lighthouse. (both only about 20 min. away). We're glad we stayed away from the crowds at seven mile beach. Rental car a must to see attractions. Don't be afraid to use the local companies, their prices were lower. Amenities in condo very nice, sand toys, snorkel equipment, beach towels and all the kitchen supplies we needed for breakfast and lunch. We'll be back and I would rent this unit again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our high expectations were met and exceeded. The condo was well equipped, tastefully decorated, and clean. A virtual stone's throw from the coral gardens of a national marine park, I and my grandsons enjoyed snorkeling while my wife found the beach more to her liking. The Rum Point location has enough to offer in restaurants and amenities and, thankfully, lacks the congestion of 7-mile beach. The beach restaurant at nearby Kaibo was our favorite. Should we return to Grand Cayman, #24 at the Retreat will be our choice!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed in this condo at the beginning of March for a week. The owner was extremely helpful throughout the rental process and was very receptive during our stay via email. It is one of, if not the, best condo location at the Retreat at Rum Point. Of the 3 bedrooms, 2 had perfect views of the ocean from 2 sides and the other had a view from one side. Our group included my 7 and 8 yr. old boys, my husband and me and my parents. My parents had complete privacy (and a break from the kids!) in the 2nd floor master bedroom. The condo was well furnished and had everything we needed. I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had a great vacation in #24 Retreat at Rum Point condo. All 3 couples enjoyed having their own bedroom and bath. Everything was in order when we arrived and the condo was very clean. The local managers and staff were very helpful and efficient. The condo was very well equipped and the snorkel equipment was very useful. We really appreciated the owner's professionalism and responsiveness during the rental process and all the good information she provided. It was a delight working with her and we recommend the condo highly. It was nice to snorkel from the shore by the condo--we even saw a very large spiny lobster, which was fun to see. While we were there, we went on a boat trip with Paul Deegan. His web site is http://www.caymansixsenses.com/. He picked us up at Rum Point and took all 6 of us out for a 6-hour trip in his boat, where he took us to Sting Ray City sandbar in the morning before all the other boats got there. Then he took us to a place where we snorkeled (he provided snorkel equipment), then over to the mangrove area, and then to the starfish point area. He was very knowledgeable and professional and his boat was in good condition and very comfortable (with shade). His charge was $100 USD each, which was quite a bit less expensive than if we had used one of the other companies. We would definitely recommend him.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Our second time staying in this unit was just as lovely as our first stay last year. When we weren't out at a restaurant, we had every meal out on the screened in porch..listening to the waves and soaking in the peacefulness. Our 6 year old loved the pool toys & boogie boards and going to the pool - which we often had to ourselves. It was nice to hang out at the condo's beach and then step on over to the beach shack for some smoothies or snacks. We can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

There is nothing but wonderful things to say about this rental . It is wonderful and clean and so well appointed. Furniture is lovely, the linens and towels are outstanding. The kitchen is wonderful and has every item you could possibly need to prepare a wonderful meal, The owner of this unit takes tremendous pride and effort in maintaining this home. This is not just a rental for one week and then try something else next year. This place leaves you wanting to stay and wanting more. I could live in this unit for many weeks and months. It deserves the respect for the effort that has gone into this condo. You can tell other renters have felt the same way. I just returned Sunday and have already booked for a longer time ( in the unit) for 2013. I hope if you choose this unit you will feel the same way. The private beach is the best.. I think what also makes this place so special is the other people in the other units. You meet people outside and chat on the beach if you wish or can you can remain private. This unit accurately represents the pride this owner has in their home. I have stayed in other units in this complex and this is my favorite. The owner is helpful and concerned for every guest when you are checking in or checking out.. Please ask her any questions about the island and where to dine and food shop. You will not go wrong. There is no need to worry about anything. Anything the owner hasn't helped you with the staff in the front office will. GiGi and Sharon take care of this unit as if it was their own home. I think this is a great property for anyone who will appreciate the hard work ,time. money that has been put in this home. My wife, I, & both sets of parents stayed at this wonderful location for a week-long vacation and small mid-week wedding ceremony (@ the Wharf) in Grand Cayman. All we could say is 'wow'. The owner was very helpful from the beginning as we planned what was our 2nd trip to the quiet side of the island. The location was perfect for providing wonderful Carribean views & in walking distance to Rum Point, which is exactly what we were looking for. The pictures definitely don't do the condo justice. The 3BR/3BA and Queen/King beds was perfect for 3 travelling couples & the master was gorgeous. Upon arrival it was clean & the mid-week maid service was great. Oh, and Sally (owner) had the mid-week maid service leave a bottle of wine once she learned about our wedding (nice touch!). The 2 decks provided wonderful options for everyone & the star gazing was magnificent off the master deck! We really can't say enough about the entire experience. We will definitely incorporate this property nto our future travel plans!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a relaxing 2 week family vacation at this gorgeous location. The condo was beautifully decorated, well maintained and fully equipped as described online. It was nice not having to pack things like beach towels. The owners and management at the condo answered all of our questions and made sure our stay there was trouble free. The property is conveniently located at Rum Point which has a beautiful beach area, restaurant, snack bar and all types of water-sport activities. The reefs off of Rum Point provides excellent snorkeling which we enjoyed daily. Being on the north side of the island it was far more relaxing and less crowded than the tourist area of Georgetown. I would highly recommend renting a car. A rental car gives you the means to explore the island and make trips to the market and Georgetown. We look forward to returning to the island and would recommend it to family and friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Review #2091065 Wonderful Vacation Rental My husband, two children (11 and 6) and myself stayed July 11 - 18, 2011. This was our first time to Grand Cayman and I did a lot of research as to where we would stay and viewed pictures and videos of this unit before we arrived. Usually a place will always appear better on-line, but it was actually more beautiful in person! Everything my family needed was there, from cooking utensils to beach towels, beach toys, DVD movies, a cooler (which we used everyday packing our own drinks)and beach toys. They even had snorkel gear, but we had brought our own. We ate several dinners on the huge screen in porch overlooking the breath taking ocean view and that is where I drank my morning coffee, which I looked forward to every morning. The upstairs terrace was my favorite spot to sit out and look at the stars. Our family is really into snorkeling, so we rented a car and wanted to hit all the amazing snorkeling sites on the island, and it was so nice when we were done to go back to our little peace of paradise. There is a great resturant next door, Rum Point Restuarant, which was our favorite dinning out experience! There is great snorkeling right out front as well, it was one of only 2 places we saw a sea turtle! The owner was so accomadating, replying to my many e-mails with questions of things to do and things to see before we got there. A very nice touch and ended up being very helpful is a binder that the owner had put together with information for guest that tells best local snorkeling spots, local resturant menus and phone numbers to call reservations along with owners review of each resturant, listing of TV channels, and favorite things to do. It was the go to for any question binder! I could tell a lot of love and care went into this rental, infact it felt more like a home with all of the little touches than a rental and helped make our families first visit to Grand Cayman an amazing one! We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here June 30 - July 9 after doing TONS of research. Last year’s family vacation was a disaster, and I was determined not to let that happen again. We knew we needed a safe island, a quiet “away from it all” location and a comfortable, clean, well taken care of rental property. Our family of five (including three kids: 8, 6, 2) explored every square inch of the island and spent plenty of time over in the areas, but there’s nothing like “returning home” to the calmer part of the island. If you’re looking for tons of action, activities, shops/stores, and restaurants within walking distance, this might not be the best choice for you, but it was perfect for us. The complex is well-cared for. We used the pool plenty, and most often were the only ones there. Same with the beach area. Occasionally you would see someone sitting in one of the many beach chairs scattered about, but more often than not, we were the only ones. The proximity to the nearby beach club was terrific. My kids liked to venture to that side of the beach early in the morning, then explore the Northside ironshore (or drive to another area) once the cruise crowd started to show up at the beach club. Having the option and convenience right nearby was great. As for the unit itself: Perfect. I don’t need to feel like I’m staying at the Queen’s vacation house, but at the same time, “rustic” doesn’t appeal to me either. This unit was nicely decorated, spacious, very clean and updated with all modern applicances. The furniture was very comfortable. The unit included every amenity you could need including a full assortment of kitchen utensils, big beach towels, snorkel equipment and beach toys. We were also impressed by the collection of books, games and the large DVD library, which came in handy on the few rainy days we had. The owner's personal touches made us feel like she really cared about our experience, and she went above and beyond to ensure that this was the best trip of our lives. We will definitely be returning to Grand Cayman... and definitely returning to this particular rental.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this condo for one week from May 22 - 29. This is an absolutely beautiful condo. I would say it is exactly as pictured, but it actually is better! The furnishings are tasteful and it is well stocked with everything you would need. There are even extras like snorkeling equipment, beach towels, etc. We loved the deck off the master bedroom, it's great in the mornings to step out on and and have your first morning view of the ocean. There is a row of windows to the side of the bed that have plantation shutters on them and I would leave them open so I could watch the sunrise over the water without getting out of bed. You can watch the sunrise AND sunset from the property, The "bay" on the property is very calm and shallow. We brought floats, tethered them to a rock and relaxed in the water. Rum Point is a few steps away which is great if you want a drink or food. They also rent jet ski's, etc. We snorkeled the reef daily and it was nice to be able to do so without driving. As for the property itself, it was so pretty. The ground were well maintained as well as the pool area. We went into the pool every day for at least a short time and we were the only ones in it every time. The area itself has many beautiful house to look at which made for pleasant early morning walks! We also drove some nights to starfish beach (2 minutes down the road) and watched the sunset and looked for starfish. I corresponded with Sally, the owner more than a couple of times and she was very nice and easy to work with. We would return to the same unit in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

If you are looking for a relaxing family vacation at the best location on Grand Cayman and in a beautiful condo, then you will find it at The Retreat @Rum Point. This unit is absolutely beautiful. Large, clean, newly renovated after Hurricane Ivan and fully equipped. The second floor is an entire master suite with full bathroom and deck. The upstairs open deck looks out to the Caribbean Sea to the right and the North Sound to the left. The main floor has the large kitchen, dining area two additional bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is very big with its own full bath. It's windows also look out in both directions. The condo has all of the amenities you need including. Washer/Dryer (we only brought carry-ons and did laundry thru the week), full kitchen, utensils, blender, coffee maker, cd, dvd, flat screen tv's, etc. There were even fins, snorkels and masks. Charcoal Bar-B-Ques are available and we love to cook out. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about this unit at all. It is important to note that one needs to be able to climb one flight of stairs to the unit and the 2nd floor bedroom is only accessible by a spiral staircase. While I wish the pool were located on the water, the Retreat's location is perfect. We have been to Grand Cayman five times. We have stayed at the busy Seven Mile Beach area, Kaibo Yacht Club, The Reef in the East End and The Retreat at Rum Point twice now. Rum Point and, specifically, The Retreat is by far our favorite location and accommodations. You can snorkel right in front of the condo complex in the Sound where the water is calm or for a better viewing experience - walk less than 1/2 mile to the public beach, swim out 20 to 100 yards and ride the tidal flow back to the Retreat while seeing turtles, lion fish, eels, lobsters, barracuda, eagle rays and many other tropical fish. We are a family of five. Our children are now 14, 12 & 11. We first stayed at the Retreat when they were 3, 4 & 6. Next door to the Retreat is the Rum Point beach which has water sports, bar, outdoor lunch, small gift store and a very nice restaurant at night. Yes, chairs can get grabbed early, but it's always very laid back and a great place to catch the sunset or sit on a hammock. The water at the North Sound is calm and is perfect for toddlers to adults. Bottom line, The Retreat is the only location we will ever stay at in the Caymans and the unit was perfect for our family. The owner (Sally) is great!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have stayed in many condos for our vacations and this one was the best! The views were amazing & we loved being able to open up the rooms for the ocean breeze. Everything is great quality, which is rare for a condo (furniture, pots/pans, towels, etc.) We also loved the peaceful little beach, walking a few minutes to be at Rum Point and snorkeling right off the beach. I could not say enough about our wonderful experience! Sally's Place (as we all came to call it) was perfect for our family. Each bedroom has it's own ensuite, which made for quick getaways in the morning, The kitchen is well appointed with a very nice selection of dishes ,glassware, cutlery and ample kitchenware and utensils to actually cook a meal! Living area is bright and spacious, but our favorite room was the very large screened lanii overlooking the spectacular view.I would recommend this rental in a heart beat. It's clean, well maintained, nicely decorated , and the best condo in the complex because of where it is situated.Tennis, snorkeling ,scuba, suntanning, cycling, beach,we did it all just outside our door and great dining at Kaibo Yacht Club.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The condo is lovely in its decor, it is beautiful in location being surrounded by the ocean on three sides, and ideally located near good restaurants and beach front activities yet the condo itself is quite private. We have stayed in other condos in Grand Cayman and definately liked Retreat #24 the best. We have stayed there 5 times. It is large, comfortable and very well equipped. It is perfect for 3 couples, a larger family or a smaller group that likes to spread out. The beach and pool are uncrowded. We love the porch views of the ocean and beach. The snorkeling is great right off the beach. The small boat we rented to go to Sting Ray City and explore the North Sound was fun. Our best dinner out was right next door.
