Ocean Blue was a great vacation home! We had beautiful views and perfect weather. The property was clean and maintained well. The owner was super quick to respond with any questions also. The pictures on the listing were the real deal. The kitchen was well equipped with everything someone would need to whip dinner. The decks were great! We feed the sea gulls every morning while watching for dolphin! The sunrise was amazing to watch on the sea side and the sun set was just as beautiful on the sound. We also enjoyed watching the kite surfers and the surfers in the water. We visited the restaurants that were opened while we were there. I do believe we got there the week before the "season" opened. Our favorite in Rodanthe was Austin's Seafood, we had them steam crab legs to go! However the views from Goodwinds were pretty amazing. We went to see the Rodanthe pier and was charged $2.00 per person to walk down the pier and to our dissapointment we were only allowed half way down because they were doing repairs to it. We took a trip to Ocracoke one day too which was very nice. We enjoyed reading about the beach erosion and hope that it will still be there in a few years to continue to enjoy.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family vacation included our adult children and other extended family who have not been together for any length of time in many years. Two of us celebrated special birthdays in this beautiful vacation home. It is well-appointed, extremely clean, and comfortable making our time together just perfect! The home was exactly as advertised and did not disappoint. We had everything we needed and the owner was excellent to work with. His local staff was always available and came promptly when we called for a minor light fixture repair. We experienced winter storm Saturn with extremely gusty winds and torrential rains while watching the movie "Nights in Rodanthe" and never flinched because of the solid construction of this beach home. The Inn at Rodanthe is in view from the beautiful decks which face the ocean. We watched the dolphins on most mornings and we even think we may have seen a small whale. Local surfers braved the large waves generated by the storm and we enjoyed watching them as well. The recreation room with billiards table and wet bar was also entertaining as we were unable to get out of the house very much due to the bad weather towards the end of the week. We did go to Hatteras Lighthouse and to the ferry at the end of the island on one occasion. This is only a 30-45 minute drive away and there is a large grocery store in that general area. Several of us enjoyed relaxing in the nice hot tub on a couple of occasions. Each was able to have our privacy due to the construction of the home with bedrooms on each level. The elevator was helpful especially when bringing in luggage, groceries, etc. and when leaving. We would definitely recommend this beautiful vacation home to anyone who wants to experience the Outer Banks of North Carolina and we hope to be able to return to make more family memories here!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing.

the home is lovely and right on the beach. hurricane damage was evident around us, but this home has been untouched. The rooms were wonderful, the views lovely and just what the doctor ordered! We had the beach to ourselves for most of the week-- which allowed the dog to explore the beach at top speed. later in the week other families came around-- including some crazy surfers! All rooms are just as described and spacious. game room was very nice. Elevator was helpful in getting everything up to the spectacular thrid floor--- where we pretty much lived the entire week. highly recommend. the secret reading nook just above the top of the stairs was a lovely suprise.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

When planning our Honeymoon we originally wanted to stay at "Serendipity" from the movie "Nights in Rodanthe" because I loved that movie and Richard Gere and I thought it was just an awesome location and view ever since I saw the movie. In doing my research I couldn't get that house for the date of our Honeymoon so I found "Ocean Blue" this house had so much more to offer and it was quiet a bit better value for the money. However, the only date that was available was still not the same as date planned for our wedding but the wedding date wasn't locked in yet because we wanted to plan around the availability for our Honeymoon. So, there was only one good week available. Then I thought of checking on Serendipity to see if that date was available and it was. However, after comparing the two besides all the money we saved it just had so much more to offer and it sat in close view of Serendipity as it was moved from its original site that it was filmed in. We absolutely loved our stay and the service we had. There were a couple of issues but they were resolved quickly with no big issues. Great service! We do plan to return as soon as possible for a Great Family Vacation and another Great Friends Vacation! I was very impressed with the property and really enjoyed the view, hot tub, pool, jacuzzi, pool shower, pool table, close walk to the beach and much more!!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We had a great time in this beautiful home on the beach. It was an ideal location, gorgeous view and lovely decor. The home was very clean and upscale. The booking process was painless and communication prompt. We took pets with us and it was perfect for that as well. Anything you can ask for is here at this home...the beach was out the back door and it is close enough to shopping and other attractions. We would definately return!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

This was our third family vacation at "Ocean Blue" and, as always, it was wonderful. The house is a perfect fit for our family and we are always assured of everything being in great condition. The kitchen is well equipped, the furnishings throughout are beautiful, and the concierge service is excellent. We had the best fall weather imaginable and hope we can all get together there again next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week here. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of room and fantastic views. The kitchen was furnished with everything you could possibly need and the elevator was great, especially for bringing up groceries. The owner was so helpful and very easy to work with. We were just steps from the beach and all enjoyed the private pool. This was by far our best vacation in the OBX in the past 20 years and hope to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What an amazing house. The view from the top floor is amazing. Was able to get many Sun Rise Pictures and Sunset Pictures just down the street on the Sound side. If we go back we want this house. No matter where you are in this beautiful home we aways tended to navigate to those slidiing door upstairs and the sounds of the ocean. Tip, Take a pair of binoculars to watch the dolphines. We had a blast here. the house was even better then the pictures described. One sugestion. Put a crock pot in there. It had everything but a much needed crock pot. We missed this home as soon as we left. Wonderful place!! Owner is very freindly and helpfulDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Ocean Blue was a great house for our annual family beach vacation. The house was clean and well appointed. The six grandkids, ages 2-6, absolutely loved the close proximity to the beach. They also appreciated the pool when the sand and saltwater occasionally got to be too much of a good thing. After many years of vacationing in Corrolla and Nags Head, we all enjoyed the laid back, small town atmosphere of the area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
