Pure Luxury in a Private Rainforest Residence with Everything
- Minimum stay:5 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Rainforest Estate is a new luxury property on over 9 acres of very private tropical lawns, gardens, creeks and natural rainforest near Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland. It offers an exclusive, spectacular and convenient venue for a family or group holiday, a wedding ceremony, reception and / or honeymoon, or a special event or function.
Hidden away in a secluded valley, Rainforest Estate is perfectly located and close to all tourist attractions and activities. The Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and Atherton Tablelands are on our doorstep, as are pristine beaches, championship golf courses, great fishing, resort shopping, international cuisine restaurants and all retail, commercial and support services.
The property is made up of a two story main residence (7,500 sq ft), a separate two story pavilion (1,800 sq ft), a parking garage / shed (2,500 sq ft) and a hot tub gazebo, all joined by elevated timber boardwalks winding through creeks and gardens, and all surrounded by acres of lawns, gardens and rainforest.
The main residence has 3 master bedroom suites (2 kings, 1 queen, all with ensuite, air conditioning and TV) plus a fully screened day bed area with 2 king single beds and its own ensuite and ceiling fan, sleeping a total of 8 guests.
There is also a huge 2 story atrium with a ceiling to floor waterfall and 2 level reflection ponds. The central open kitchen, bar, dining and entertaining area, overlooking the lagoon style heated swimming pool, is always a favourite hang out.
Upstairs in the main residence is a sumptuous lounge and library overlooking the pool and gardens. It has a 50" LCD screen, satellite TV, DVD player/recorder and a Bose surround sound home theatre.
At the rear of the main residence is a large timber deck overlooking an ornamental creek, lawns and gardens.
Up an elvated boardwalk is the separate private pavilion. Downstairs it has a second full kitchen, lounge (which converts to 2 double sofa beds) with its own ensuite, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and TV. Upstairs is a fourth master suite (king), with its own ensuite, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and TV. Off this master suite is a fully screened sitting room with a double sofa bed and ceiling fans (shares ensuite with master suite). The pavilion sleeps up to 8 additional guests.
A day at Rainforest Estate begins with the birds as the sun appears through and over the rainforest canopy. Breakfast by the pool after a walk in the gardens meeting some of the "locals". Blue Ulysees and green and yellow Cairns Birdwing butterflies are in abundance, as are the tiny but prolific yellow Sun Birds, our property logo. There is always plenty to see.
During the day, some go exploring the many attractions our region is famous for, others simply relax and enjoy their downtime on the property (it can often be very difficult to leave the peace, privacy and spendour).
As the evening approaches, cocktails around the pool or on the rear deck under the massive native Rain Tree, generally covered in birds and butterflies.
Dining is usually a casual (but gourmet) outdoor BBQ (any time of year), fine dining indoors (perhaps prepared by your own in-house chef) or a visit to one of the many nearby restaurants (there's about 100 of them within 15 minutes) catering for every cuisine and budget.
And after a night in a sumptuous master suite, tomorrow is another day of more of the same.
The most frequent question we get asked is "So how many days do I need to spend in Tropical North Queensland and Rainforest Estate?"
The simple answer is the more the better, but we always recommend at least 4 clear days (excluding arrival and departure days).
While we have a minimum stay of 4 nights, you will still only scratch the surface in 5-7 nights. There is so much to see and do in the region, let alone the need for some valuable R & R, you will be very disappointed if you come and go without diving the Great Barrier Reef (full day), exploring the Daintree Rainforest (full day) and visiting the Atherton Tablelands (another full day). Add a day exploring the local area and there goes 4 full days, with no R & R (which you will need).
We've known people who come for a week and stay a lifetime, its that type of place.
With our extensive local knowledge and contacts we can also help you organize transport, tours, special events (including all wedding arrangements), catering, spa and massage treatments and many other supplies, equipment and services you may require before, during and after your stay.
Or if you prefer, we can leave you totally alone to soak up the luxury, privacy and tranquility on offer at Rainforest Estate.
We look forward to meeting you "down under" and helping you totally enjoy our piece of paradise.

There is no word to describe how we loved this stunning property. We got married at Rainforest Estate and stayed there for 3 days, away too short stay but that was definitely enough for us to fall in love with the place. The house itself is impressive, well appointed and beautifully decorated, very modern, everything is made to make your life easy! The music and lights systems are amazing, you can control everything wherever you are in the house. A few light spots around the house make the rainforest looks magnificent at night which we enjoyed every night from the balcony. You can't escape the stunning views of the wild life, enjoy it even while having a shower. The garden is very well kept with so many different plants and gorgeous tropical flowers, which you will also find a bit everywhere inside the house in vases. And the creek, how great that was! Walk a couple of minutes away from your bedroom and your feet are in the cool running water of this stunning creek! Full enough to swim in it. We brought lots of things thinking we might need them, no need, the house is fully equipped, everything you need for cooking and barbecue is there. The service is at the house's level; perfect. The owners, a lovely couple, make things happen your way, they really cared about what we wanted and how, they provide a personalized and very professional customer service. You will enjoy your stay at Rainforest Estate, no doubt, and you will also enjoy feeling welcomed. But unfortunately, like every good thing in life, an end will come and I have to say it is hard to leave this place. We have decided to come back every year to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, we think the excuse is good enough to spoil ourselves again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are a Canadian family of seven. We stayed a whole month at this estate in the rainforest in Queensland, Australia. The house is beautifully designed and was spotlessly clean upon arrival and throughout our stay. The couple that owns the place bent over backwards for us and were more than accommodating at all times. They even organized a bonfire night for us, complete with a traveling "swagman" who sang traditional folk songs for us and told us fascinating stories about the history of Australia. It was one of the many highlights of our trip. Port Douglas is only ten minutes away by car - a quaint little town, good for eating out and lazy days at Four Mile beach. We also did day trips up the coast to see the Daintree Rainforest, where we kayaked, snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, and the kids went ziplining/ "junglesurfing" through the rainforest canopy. We can't recommend the Rainforest Estate enough. A truly wonderful experience in the best part of Northern Australia.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: After travelling the world for almost 30 years (mainly on business), including living in the USA for 5 of those years, we have finally settled down in lovely Port Douglas. We've been fortunate enough to travel extensively throughout the world and have even visited all 50 states in the USA. Travel, seeing new things and meeting new people has been a life long joy and hopefully it will continue for some time yet.
Why the Owner Chose Port Douglas:
Port Douglas is a 5 star international tourist destination yet still retains a "sleepy village" feeling. The region is spectacular, the activities totally unique and the people are really friendly. The rich and famous are often seen browsing in the shops, dining in fabulous restaurants and pubs or out and about touring the many attractions. But the locals are laid back and take it all in their stride making Port Douglas an exciting, relaxing and unique vacation experience visitors never forget. So living here is even better.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Australians and Americans are a lot alike in many ways. The main difference is we are lot less stressed because there's only 22 million of us in a country the same physical size as the USA, We also get about 6 weeks vacation every year and then an 13 extra weeks every 10 years (we call it Long Service Leave). As a result we really know how to vacation and we fully understand the importance of you having a fantastic time when your vacation time is so limited in comparison. To enhance your experience, we have tried to think of everything to help make your stay with us a lifelong memory. Everything from providing you with full, accurate details of what you can expect when you arrive (witness our web site), to hassle free bookings and our personal attention to your every request. However we do realize we can’t think of everything so are always happy to respond to whatever your requirements are. And because you are dealing directly with the owners of Rainforest Estate, you can be assured you are not just a booking number and rental payment to us.
