We are a couple without children that travel internationally about 2 times a year and frequently in the states. Normally our trips are go go go...see as much as you can. Not true with this one. We planned this trip to see the huge winter waves and learn to surf...we did both and took our time. This house was the perfect home base for our adventures! Coming from cold and snowy Colorado to the North Shore is a welcome reprieve. We stayed 9 days January/Feb 2013 in this sweet little home. It exceeded our expectations and dreams of a private quaint beach cottage. We spent hours on the lanai just observing whales, surfers, weather, waves, beach goers and enjoying the peaceful sunsets. I could not wait to wake up in the morning to see the huge winter swells that were rolling in at the Gas Chamber and Rocky Point breaks right outside. They lulled us to sleep at night and excited us through out the day. The house is situated on a very private lot with gated drive and amazing beach access. If you are looking for a 5 star resort/spa feeling this NOT the house for you...if you are looking for a true 5 Star North Shore country experience this IS the house for you. It is perfectly quaint, rustic and charming. They provide 2 bikes and a lock to use. The bike trail is right out the back gate. We used them everyday and it was great for getting around easily (avoiding traffic). We cooked almost every day. The kitchen is clean and adequate for all kinds of cooking, as little or as much as you want to do. The beds are very comfortable and there are lots of linens if you need a change mid week. There are plenty of beach towels and regular towels. Lots of hot water and ok pressure. The views are unbelievable! We will be back...in fact I am going to make reservations very soon! Thanks to Chaney for all the extra work in answering questions and providing us with great hospitality.

A beautiful home right in the surfing heartland of the North Shore. My teenage boys enjoyed surfing Gas Chambers which is the surf break directly out the front of the home. The home has everything you require and is filled with loads of charm. The bikes were fabulous to use and the outdoor shower was perfect after a surf or swim in the ocean. We found the location ideal. It is central to all the beaches and only a short ride away from any supplies that are required. Snorkelling at Shark Cove was amazing, we hired surfboards directly across the road from Shark Cove and the staff were very friendly and really helpful in explaining local breaks. We would definately recommend this property if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and just enjoy what the North Shore has to offer. We cant wait to get back there.

Spent 5 relaxing days at this quaint beach cottage. Loved the furnishings...could just feel the history of this home. Beautiful gardens and incredible views of the ocean from the patio! Fantastic location on an almost deserted beach. Thanks so much for sharing.

My family just stayed at this home and we could not have been happier with the accommodations. Right off of Sunset Beach, quiet neighbors, view of sunsets every night, comfortable home, nicely furnished. If we come back to this island, we will definately stay here again.

I love this home but let me state that the house is beach rustic with some minor upgrading. I enjoy this style but it may not be good for all. The oversized property the home sits on is very charming with mature trees and a great outdoor shower, hammock and BBQ. You can cruz the supplied bikes to Ted's for morning breakfast. The best place in the home is the patio at the rear of the home that faces the beach where the views of the surfers, waves and sunsets are amazing. Pathway to the sand if you want to swim, catch some rays or take a walk. My last visit I invited two friends of mine over for a BBQ. These friends are born and raised in Hawaii and as we sat on the patio enjoing the day my friends told me that this is what people come to Hawaii for, but most of the time never recieve. The home is simple with all your basic needs with no frills other than the beauty that the North Shore has to offer. I love the history, serenity and humilty that fills my soul when I am there. Thank you to the beautiful host Chaney. I wish I never had to leave but I will return again and again.

What a fantastic getaway! We had wanted to visit the North Shore for years and visit all the best breaks. We didn't really know when we chose this home that it was right in the heart of where we wanted to be. Walk out on to the Lanai and, when it's breaking, Gas Chambers is roaring at you. To your right is Rocky Point and to your left, world famous Banzai Pipeline! PERFECT LOCATION for those looking to see the surf action. This home, family owned since 1930, is fantastic and a super-cute beach bungalow. Chaney was as nice and helpful as can be. The property is beautifully maintained with plenty of space to play and relax! We will be looking to return the next time we make a trip to the North Shore. Mahalo!

Thank you Chaney & Myles for looking after us so well when we stayed at the gorgeous 'Gas Chambers' House! Paul surfed out front nearly every day and I spent time reading on the day-bed and watching the surf action. The house has a character all of its own with a gorgeous all-weather lanai and decor and family photos celebrating a small slice of the North Shore's history. Sea breezes, hot outdoor shower, hammock and a huge and lovely garden all added to the enjoyment. If you want to get back to keeping things simple and being away from the crowds, this is the house for you. The two bikes added to the fun with our morning cycle to get coffee. Comfy and clean bed too! Mahalo... until we see you again. Di & Paul.

This is a perfect getaway for families with children, or catching up with friends. Very private yard where the kids have lots of room to play, and a lanai where you are basically on the beach while able to stay out of the rays if you want. The location is the best beachfront property that you must see to believe. Great to sit and watch the surfers, and if you surf this is some of the best waves. This humble home is so comfortable with so many places to relax and read, or just stare out into the blue. The yard is immaculate with tropicals, coconut palms, and a beautiful collection of plumerias. The additional outside shower is private, and makes you feel as though you are in the sticks. But town is near enough, so there are no worries. We love to go to Haleiwa Joe's or Lei lei's for going out to dinner. (The food trucks are a bonus when the pizza is cooking you can pick it up outside on the street without driving to town!) Who needs to leave when everything you could want s right here. My family absolutely loves this property and the aloha spirit that it exudes!

Staying in this home has brought me a sense of peace. It encourages quiet moments, lazy afternoons, great conversations with friends &, best of all, present time to spend time with my children. My visits there have been some of the best times of my life.

I can't imagine any beach house more perfect. You feel so much a part of real old Hawaii, and with such a magnificent view of the ocean and sunset, it couldn't be more perfect. You are right there, a part of it all, with the sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep at night. I want to go back, over and over!

This old kamaina home is truly a trip back in time, the setting is so lovely with a really intimate connection with the ocean. I could live on the lanai, the old hedge giving me privacy from the beach, yet affording me complete access to all the surfer action directly in front of me. The daily sunsets are breathtaking. The owner has kept the charm her family has enjoyed since the '30's. One of my favorite things is taking a hot outdoor shower inside the big enclosed hedge after snorkeling just down the road at sharks cove. Truly an amazing experience to stay in an authentic hawaiian home
