My boyfriend and I originally chose the Tent Cabins, frankly, because of the price and then the adventure potential. I have never been happier with a vacation choice! The hosts, Jill and Bryan, are the first on the hospitality list. They greeted us daily with their warmth and wisdom of the island and provided everything that is needed for a really comfortable 'glamping' experience. The cabins are exactly as described in the photographs with ample amenities for cooking/eating, evening light, water collection and dish washing. We took the opportunity to cook at 'home' for most meals to save money for our beloved Lime in the Coconut drinks, which we could get just a 5 min. walk from our site! The cabin was exceptionally clean and the bed really comfortable with clean linens and ample towels were provided. Each campsite is provided with their own shower stall which I think is a really thoughtful detail particularly for our 7 day stay. The commissary always had plenty of anything we could need including propane for the camp stove. This was particularly helpful for our first day when we weren't sure what to expect. All in all this was one of the best vacation stays I've ever had - simple walks to the beach, eateries also 5 min. walks away and sleeping outdoors! We were blessed with a full moon week which made the jungle canopy that much more beautiful! Whether we ate in or out we always ended up around the fire just chillin' in the moonlight. Incredibly relaxing!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time at Cane Bay! Bryan and Jill are laid back hosts who really know the island and gave great recommendations on things to explore. The tent cabins offer a regular bed and paradise at an affordable price. Some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the campsites and if you want to explore further, the rental car companies make life easy by offering pick ups and airport drop offs. Jill is willing to go the extra mile and use her island network to make your trip special. She helped us connect with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service for a special tour that was open to the public, but one only an island insider would know about. We had a great time and can recommend the tent cabins to other travelers!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I decided to venture out from our annual St. Thomas visit and chose St Croix as our destination for the day/night. We love to kayak and found Virgin Kayak Tours on the internet and discovered this wonderful, hidden cabin rental. It is evident that Brian and Jill have poured their hearts and souls into this property to make it a welcome site for all who come. The constuction and personal touches made us feel at safe and at home since we love the outdoors and the cabin had all we needed. From the "kitchen" accessories, lighting. dining area, hammock, fire pit, beautiful bedding, towels, commom area, and "camp" store to the awsome mahogany tree canopy, open air and historical ruins, this place was perfect...Cane Bay Beach was beautiful as was the Waves Restaurant on the waterfront....we loved it and are already talking about returning next year! Thank you Jill and Brian for the accomodations, beautiful fresh flowers, and aloe for my sunburn! Peace.to you and yours!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Virgin Kayak Cabin during our Christmas break. We couldn't have been more happy with the choice. Be a part of the nature. Its an amazing feeling when you live in a cabin [there are just 4-5 cabin and offers lot of privacy], surrounded by trees, swinging on a hammock watching the stars. The experience was unlike anything I have felt before. Truly amazing. You cannot ask for better hosts. Jill and Bryan were always there to help and assist us whenever we needed. Everything was very clean and tidy. After St. Croix, we visited Maho Bay at St. John and personally felt the Cabin at St. Croix were much better. In fact, we had a change of plans and had to leave St. Croix early morning, Jill was there to say Good Byes at 6 in the morning. She even packed some snacks for our onward trip. Thanks Jill. :) Like others have mentioned, there is a dive shop, a restaurant and the Cane bay beach right next door. We don't eat meat and the restaurant did have decent vegetarian options. You may want to rent a car if you intend to explore St. Croix beyond cane bay. That's true for anywhere you stay in St. Croix. Jill does keep a stack of things you may need during your stay which is really everything, but if you need specific things, you'll need to drive. We researched a lot of places and were glad we chose Virgin Kayak. Thanks Bryan and Jill for making it such a wonderful experience. Can't wait to visit again!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our camping experience more than we ever dreamed we would. After researching the Internet it appeared to be something we would like and booked our stay.Jill responded promptly to our Emails and was very helpful. Our flight was delayed making our arrival to Cane Bay about 6 hours later than planed. We called to let Jill and Bryan we would be very late and they told us not to worry they would meet us there. When we arrived they were there to greet us and got us settled in.The tent cabins are equipped with everything needed and are very well cared for.The camp sites are also very well set up and cared for.We must say this is a top notch operation. We went on Virgin Kayak's bio night tour, it was great. The kayaks are top of the line and very easy to opperate.Bryan does a great job of guiding the tour and explaining the history and present day of the area.He cares about it and does a lot to keep it healthy. Cane Bay Dive is on the way to the beach and is staffed by the best in the industry.Dive with them and rest assured you will be in good competent hands. Eat Cane Bay and Off The Wall are two close by bar restaurants that each have good food and drink with views to die for. We highly recommend a stay at Cane Bay and can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time staying at the camp. Jill and Bryan were wonderful hosts helping us with our daily adventures. We loved the location just a short walk to one of the best beaches with snorkeling and scuba diving on the island! Great restaurants with-in a short walk. Everynight before we headed out for dinner we made a campfire with wine and snacks! The cabin was stocked with everything you needed linens, towels, cookware, games, lanterns, propane stove, and much more! The commissary on site was fully stocked with anything you needed from propane to food, snacks, ice, anything you needed at very reasonable prices. We only hope we can go back real soon!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Cane Bay Campground. We are from Vail, CO in the Rocky Mountains and are avid campers. When we arrived at Cane Bay Campground we were in awe. This place had everything you could possibly need/want while camping. We did the adventure package, and it made each day a different adventure and Jill and Brian made our trip. They are such great people, and are very knowledgeable about the island's history, the marine life, and everything in between. We would highly recommend the adventure package to anyone who is looking for something a little different than the typical "Resort Vacation." And for those of you who are not "Avid" or "Frequent" campers, or even the first timers, this "Camping" was exquisite. Running water, showers, flushing toilets, beds, lamps, fans, propane stove, picnic tables, fire pits, hammocks, and the list goes on! You WILL NOT be disappointed. Our adventures consisted of: Kayak to Annaly Bay, Hike to the tidal pools, Kayak and snorkel to Green Cay and Shell Island, and the Bioluminescence Bay. After your trip you can say you swam with Eagle Rays! And hopefully some turtles! Cane bay is a great spot. Laid back is the theme. The people are great, and there is great snorkeling and diving right off the main beach. EAT is a 5 star restaurant in my book, and it is only a 3 minute walk from your cabin. You will have meals you have only dreamt of, seriously. We had an amazing vacation and we are already planning our return to Cane Bay Campground with friends to share our amazing experiences and to re-live such an amazing week. The adventure package is a great way to spend a week long vacation with plenty of free beach time to be had.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

From the moment Jill met us with a bouquet of tropical flowers, I knew we were in good hands. She & Bryan were so welcoming & wonderful. The campsite & grounds are comfy, clean and very well thought out. My daughter and I did a week-long stay with the Adventure Package and we are still marveling at the sites and experiences. Jill & Bryan take great care of their island and the importance of its history, and it is reflected in all they do. We managed well without a car and found several restaurants within reasonable walking distance considering the road & how early it got dark. Eat was fabulous and we ate there twice. Great staff - they remember your favorite drinks after one visit! Tuesday Night Bingo at Off the Wall is a must! Dining at Waves is beautiful & elegant. It was our first time in St. Croix, and as they say, it won't be our last. Many thanks to Jill, Bryan & Brianna for a most memorable time. We wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers.

Oh my!... what a different holiday from the usual hotel-hopping variety, yet all of the comforts you really need are provided for you, including lovely bed sheets and soft/fluffy towels. We booked the adventure package and I'm so glad. Some of my personal highlights - iguana's hanging on branches in mangrove forests, eagle ray's flying out of the water and diving back in right in front of your kayak, sea turtles popping their heads up to check you out and watching the live jungle movie surrounding you every morning you have your coffee.... Great Memories! I truly enjoyed this unusual holiday. Jill and Bryan are a very warm couple that make you feel very welcome...and if you're as lucky as us you'll meet other really nice campers to share this great experience with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed at Cane Bay Campground for our anniversary and did the Eco Adventure Week with Jill & Bryan. The campground is in a great location - close to the beach (as in walk-able and I could hear the waves crashing while laying in bed in the morning) and several restaurants; however, the cabins were nestled back in the woods so we could get away from it all when we wanted to. As promised, the cabin had everything we needed for the week of "pampered camping" - comfy bed, table, chairs, lanterns, a fan, dishes, cooler, etc. The campsite had a picnic table, grill, fire ring and (my favorite) a hammock. The camp store sold everything we could need for a week of camping, including water, snacks, coffee, drinks, fire wood, propane, and all kinds of food. The showers and bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever experienced while camping. Don't be scared off by the cool water shower - it felt lovely after a day in the sun! Of course, this is still camping and we were out in Nature and so we got to see our fair share of “wildlife” at the campground including, deer, mongoose & chickens foraging around the campsite. I particularly enjoyed watching and listening to the little lizards play on the tarp roof in the early morning sun. As part of the Eco Adventure Week, Jill & Bryan took us out every morning for a different excursion - kayaking, snorkeling and/or hiking. Their enthusiasm for the island and the local environment was both informative and infectious. They were ready to answer any question, point out interesting things and share in the fun. My husband really enjoyed the snorkeling (he spotted a ray while were out at Green Key) and I loved hiking to, and then swimming around in, the Tidal Pool. We were back at Cane Bay by early afternoon each day so we had plenty of low-key beach bum time as well. Our week at Cane Bay was an excellent adventure – relaxing but active, peaceful but fun. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a Caribbean vacation outside the normal cruise/resort route. If you enjoy camping, you will love Cane Bay Campground.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

About: Bryan and Jill Updyke love the outdoors, kayaking, and indigenous history and art. That's why we built these TENT CABINS. People can be closer to nature, get outdoors, and learn about the people who first inhabited this island. We also noticed that people with a small budget needed affordable lodging. During the 23 years we've lived on island, we've discovered some of the most amazing places. In fact, after many years of searching, Bryan discovered the location of the fabled 'Maroon Cave', and was one of the original trailblazers of the Sweet Bottom trail to the Tidal Pools. We spend our free time in the woods, or in a kayak. We would like to show you the island, the local way! Stay in one of four of our tent cabins, while enjoying the very happening North Shore of St Croix. Whether you do the Adventure Package or just rent a cabin, we believe you will love this area.
Why Cane Bay:
Your TENT CABIN is down the trail from the bath house, under the tropical canopy, 2 minutes from the beach on foot. St Croix, and especially Cane Bay, offers a very laid back atmosphere to enjoy. You feel away from it all, but you are just a two minute walk to the beach, world class diving and snorkeling, restaurants and a lively neighborhood of locals. While still growing in popularity, Cane Bay and the surrounding neighborhood are a sure bet for anyone who wants to experience the caribbean the local way. It is very quiet and mellow on the weekdays, and very lively on Saturday and Sunday!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
If you like: you can snorkel and dive one of the best spots in the Caribbean; you have the benefit of building your own fire to cook on at your private campsite; you can hike a private nature trail on the 101 acres of Cane Bay Plantation; swing in your hammock at your campsite; catch your very own lobster and grill it on your grill; hike to secluded beaches nearby. Kayak to remote coves that most Crucians haven't seen. Yoga classes are held at EAT three times a week.
