...In ways you can't even imagine. Jill and Bryan's tent cabins are the best way to experience St. Croix. They are the loveliest of hosts with the loveliest of nature-immersed (and CLEAN!) accommodations, in the best-located spot on the most beautiful island in the world. Just go!

My husband and I adore the cabins at Cane Bay Campground...most defintely our favorite "staycation" place on island! We just had another fantastic full moon extra-long weekend in Cane Bay at "our" cabin (#3) and again it was just perfect. The property is even better than the photos show - everything is kept spotlessly clean and fresh, and everything you need is provided (and anything you forgot readily available at the on-site Camp Store!). We love just relaxing in the hammocks, setting a night-time fire in the fire-pit at each cabin, and enjoying the beauty and serenity of the setting. We park our cars and forget it...if you don't want to cook for yourself, there are a number of excellent bars and restaurants within a 2 minute walk down to the beach, eat@cane bay being our personal favorite for the lively atmosphere, great food and live music. You can take one of Jill and Brian's Virgin Kayak tours (we recommend the night-time Bio-Bay tour), enjoy diving, horseback riding or simply sunbathing and snorkeling on the beautiful beach...no need to leave the area as all is right there for you to enjoy. I highly recommend Cane Bay Campground to anyone who enjoys nature, a beautiful setting, and plenty to do on-site or within minutes walk. And you can't really call it camping in the traditional sense...with the spacious, beautifully crafted and well-equipped cabins and grounds, and so much to see and do at your fingertips, it's the perfect place for an extended holiday or if you are an islander like us, the perfect spot for a wonderful "staycation " that won't break the bank! We can't recommend it enough.

We came looking for a relaxing hideaway, and we found that and so much more. Our island friends were also blown away, saying things like, "I've lived on St. Croix my whole life and I had no idea such a lovely place existed", and "I'm planning to take my family here soon for an on-island holiday". During the week we stayed we had a couple of days of on-again, off-again rain, which was lovely to experience lying in bed listening to it on the canvas, or sitting outside at the picnic table underneath the tarp on the giant tree next to the cabin. We even got a fresh egg delivered one morning by the neighbors chickens... definitely the freshest egg I've ever had. Totally restful place just 3 minutes walk to a great beach... what omre can you ask for? We went out on the kayaks one night to see the phosphorescence - what a fun and magical trip, especially for my wife who was a complete newbie to kayaking. We'd come back in a heartbeat! And our hosts were delightful, full of stories of island history.

This is me and my wife's new favorite place to go on vacation. If you are looking for an opportunity to "disconnect" while on vacation, but still be near restaurants, bars, the beach, etc, this place is perfect. The cabins are very well thought out and maintained. They are clean and have plenty of storage as well as a cooler, camping stove, and battery powered lanterns. The spaces between the floorboards are sealed to keep the bugs out and the screens and tarps are all bug tight as well. There is also a lot of space between cabins so you have complete privacy at all times. If you need to charge electronics, there are lockers you can use at the main building that have electrical outlets. The main building also has bathrooms with running water and showers. We used to stay at Maho Bay and the quality of the cabins here is FAR superior. You can tell that Jill and Bryan take great pride in the maintenance of the campground and on top of that, they couldn't have been nicer to us during our stay. They are very nice people and will help you with any questions that you may have. The beach is about a 3 minute walk from each of the cabins. There are 2 bars right on the beach and a restaurant called "Eat" (which is very good) right before you cross the street to get to the beach. The beach is not crowded at all because this is not a resort. The majority of people we talked to at the bars and on the beach were from St Croix, so this area doesn't have a "touristy" feel at all. The beach itself is as nice of a beach as you will find anywhere. In short, if you like camping and want to travel to a tropical paradise but the thought of being closed up at night in a hotel room is less than appealing, this place is perfect. We can't wait to go back again!

This is a terrific place to stay for anyone who enjoys camping. The Tent Cabins are very comfortable, roomy, and well-equipped for both cooking and simply hanging out. The facility includes a nicely designed bathhouse and camp store for stocking all basic needs. A huge plus is location. It's no more than a five-minute walk to the beautiful beach at Cane Bay, where there is excellent snorkeling. Several fun restaurants and bars are just a few minutes walk. I would recommend having a rental car, but you'd be okay without one. The price is a great value, both as a place to stay and avoid eating out all the time. My wife also greatly enjoyed Adventure Week, which campground owners Jill and Bryan offer as an option. They offer kayaking and snorkeling trips, which are great fun and enable you to experience the natural beauty of St. Croix. My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay and will be back again soon.

My boyfriend and I originally chose the Tent Cabins, frankly, because of the price and then the adventure potential. I have never been happier with a vacation choice! The hosts, Jill and Bryan, are the first on the hospitality list. They greeted us daily with their warmth and wisdom of the island and provided everything that is needed for a really comfortable 'glamping' experience. The cabins are exactly as described in the photographs with ample amenities for cooking/eating, evening light, water collection and dish washing. We took the opportunity to cook at 'home' for most meals to save money for our beloved Lime in the Coconut drinks, which we could get just a 5 min. walk from our site! The cabin was exceptionally clean and the bed really comfortable with clean linens and ample towels were provided. Each campsite is provided with their own shower stall which I think is a really thoughtful detail particularly for our 7 day stay. The commissary always had plenty of anything we could need including propane for the camp stove. This was particularly helpful for our first day when we weren't sure what to expect. All in all this was one of the best vacation stays I've ever had - simple walks to the beach, eateries also 5 min. walks away and sleeping outdoors! We were blessed with a full moon week which made the jungle canopy that much more beautiful! Whether we ate in or out we always ended up around the fire just chillin' in the moonlight. Incredibly relaxing!!!

We had a great time at Cane Bay! Bryan and Jill are laid back hosts who really know the island and gave great recommendations on things to explore. The tent cabins offer a regular bed and paradise at an affordable price. Some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the campsites and if you want to explore further, the rental car companies make life easy by offering pick ups and airport drop offs. Jill is willing to go the extra mile and use her island network to make your trip special. She helped us connect with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service for a special tour that was open to the public, but one only an island insider would know about. We had a great time and can recommend the tent cabins to other travelers!

My husband and I decided to venture out from our annual St. Thomas visit and chose St Croix as our destination for the day/night. We love to kayak and found Virgin Kayak Tours on the internet and discovered this wonderful, hidden cabin rental. It is evident that Brian and Jill have poured their hearts and souls into this property to make it a welcome site for all who come. The constuction and personal touches made us feel at safe and at home since we love the outdoors and the cabin had all we needed. From the "kitchen" accessories, lighting. dining area, hammock, fire pit, beautiful bedding, towels, commom area, and "camp" store to the awsome mahogany tree canopy, open air and historical ruins, this place was perfect...Cane Bay Beach was beautiful as was the Waves Restaurant on the waterfront....we loved it and are already talking about returning next year! Thank you Jill and Brian for the accomodations, beautiful fresh flowers, and aloe for my sunburn! Peace.to you and yours!

We stayed at the Virgin Kayak Cabin during our Christmas break. We couldn't have been more happy with the choice. Be a part of the nature. Its an amazing feeling when you live in a cabin [there are just 4-5 cabin and offers lot of privacy], surrounded by trees, swinging on a hammock watching the stars. The experience was unlike anything I have felt before. Truly amazing. You cannot ask for better hosts. Jill and Bryan were always there to help and assist us whenever we needed. Everything was very clean and tidy. After St. Croix, we visited Maho Bay at St. John and personally felt the Cabin at St. Croix were much better. In fact, we had a change of plans and had to leave St. Croix early morning, Jill was there to say Good Byes at 6 in the morning. She even packed some snacks for our onward trip. Thanks Jill. :) Like others have mentioned, there is a dive shop, a restaurant and the Cane bay beach right next door. We don't eat meat and the restaurant did have decent vegetarian options. You may want to rent a car if you intend to explore St. Croix beyond cane bay. That's true for anywhere you stay in St. Croix. Jill does keep a stack of things you may need during your stay which is really everything, but if you need specific things, you'll need to drive. We researched a lot of places and were glad we chose Virgin Kayak. Thanks Bryan and Jill for making it such a wonderful experience. Can't wait to visit again!!

We enjoyed our camping experience more than we ever dreamed we would. After researching the Internet it appeared to be something we would like and booked our stay.Jill responded promptly to our Emails and was very helpful. Our flight was delayed making our arrival to Cane Bay about 6 hours later than planed. We called to let Jill and Bryan we would be very late and they told us not to worry they would meet us there. When we arrived they were there to greet us and got us settled in.The tent cabins are equipped with everything needed and are very well cared for.The camp sites are also very well set up and cared for.We must say this is a top notch operation. We went on Virgin Kayak's bio night tour, it was great. The kayaks are top of the line and very easy to opperate.Bryan does a great job of guiding the tour and explaining the history and present day of the area.He cares about it and does a lot to keep it healthy. Cane Bay Dive is on the way to the beach and is staffed by the best in the industry.Dive with them and rest assured you will be in good competent hands. Eat Cane Bay and Off The Wall are two close by bar restaurants that each have good food and drink with views to die for. We highly recommend a stay at Cane Bay and can't wait to go back.

About: Bryan and Jill Updyke love the outdoors, kayaking, and indigenous history and art. That's why we built these TENT CABINS. People can be closer to nature, get outdoors, and learn about the people who first inhabited this island. We also noticed that people with a small budget needed affordable lodging. During the 25 years we've lived on island, we've discovered some of the most amazing places. In fact, after many years of searching, Bryan discovered the location of the fabled 'Maroon Cave', and was one of the original trailblazers of the Sweet Bottom trail to the Tidal Pools. We spend our free time in the woods, or in a kayak. We would like to show you the island, the local way! Stay in one of four tent cabins, while enjoying the very happening North Shore of St Croix. The neighborhood is the perfect mix of Island Life.

                      Why Cane Bay:
Your TENT CABIN is down the trail from the bath house, under the tropical canopy, 2 minutes from the beach on foot. St Croix, and especially Cane Bay, offers a very laid back atmosphere to enjoy. You feel away from it all, but you are just a two minute walk to the beach, world class diving and snorkeling, restaurants and a lively neighborhood of locals. While still growing in popularity, Cane Bay and the surrounding neighborhood are a sure bet for anyone who wants to experience the caribbean the local way. It is very quiet and mellow on the weekdays, and very lively on Saturday and Sunday!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
snorkel and dive one of the best spots in the Caribbean; build your own fire to cook on at your private campsite; you can hike a private nature trail on the 101 acres of Cane Bay Plantation; swing in your hammock at your campsite; catch your very own lobster and grill it on your grill; hike to secluded beaches nearby. Kayak to remote coves that most Crucians haven't seen. Yoga classes are held at EAT three times a week. Party with the locals at one of the five nearby restaurants.
