Our executive-style mountain home features four bedrooms, with queen beds, and three bathrooms, each with double vanities and tub/shower combinations. The lake and mountain range views from the master bedroom and both decks are truly unbelievable, some of the best that Bear Paw offers.
The main floor level has solid oak hardwood floors, and soaring tongue and groove pine ceilings. This level features an open great room, a dining room, a stacked rock gas fireplace, a 32 inch LCD flat panel television with surround sound, a VCR/DVD combo, a fully-equipped kitchen with solid surface countertops and sink, raised panel oak kitchen cabinets, two bedrooms, and a full bath. This floor leads to two decks, one covered with a 6 foot cedar swing and one open. The view of the lake and mountains from both of these decks is fantastic!!
The upper level has a master suite with solid oak hardwood floors, a television, a DVD player and a separate sitting area that overlooks the great room below and the fantastic view of the lake and mountains through the wall of windows. This master bedroom also has a full bath.
The lower level has a bedroom, a living room with a television, a DVD player, a full bathroom, a full-size washer and dryer, and a deck, with a 5 foot swing. It offers views of the lake and mountains.
Our home is located in Bear Paw, which is the only development on gorgeous Lake Hiwassee in the mountains of southwestern North Carolina. Lake Hiwassee is only five to ten minutes walking distance from our home. Lake Hiwassee is an 18-mile long mountain lake that offers casual fishing, boating, and swimming. There is also a shared swimming pool (open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, a marina that rents boats, a tennis court, a basketball court, a child's playground, and a child's fishing pond. A secured entrance gate adds to the feeling of peace and serenity pervading Bear Paw.

We found Smokey View Home to be just as the owner's advertise - especially the $million dollar view! It was superb. Six of us stayed very comfortably in this 4 bdrm home. It was really nice to have separate rooms and baths for all. The deck was wonderful also. Sitting out in the swing under the covered deck was great for morning coffee with the sun coming up over the mountain, and hitting the lake below. The house was very clean and kept up. We loved the fireplace, and actually got to use use it when the cold front came through. We drove around the neighborhood and lake, nearby towns and backroads admiring the beautiful fall foliage. We rode down to Mercier orhard and bought some fresh apples and things, and drove into the gorge by the Ocoee. it was beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in the Murphy area. I would think it would be a lot more buzzing with people in the summer though. There are houses really close to each side of this cabin, but no one was there, more than likely because they are summer homes for the usage of the lake. Also, the marinas were closed at this time of year, so no lake action, nice and quiet. If we had one suggestion it would be for softer mattresses. There was a couple of us that didn't like the mattresses. Overall, we would recommend renting this cabin.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

We highly recommend staying in this beautiful mountain home. The view is breath-taking; truly you can see God's magnificent hands at work in the surrounding views. The smokey mountains and the lake below are welled seen from the deck, the kitchen, the family room, and the upper room. We were recently there with the fall foilage a blaze in multcolored leaves across the mountain tops. The home was clean, fresh, and welcoming. We will most likely return for another visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

You will not be disappointed if you rent this house!! We had 4 couples in our party so the 4 separate bedrooms is what first attracted me to this property. We could not have made a better choice. Everything was exactly like it stated in the listing. The view exceeded our expectations and made for the perfect setting to sit and drink a cup of coffee each morning. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the grill worked great. The ping pong table was an added bonus in the basement. We rented a pontoon boat from Harbor Cover Marina (way cheaper than the one at Bear Paw) and it was only a few miles away from the house. We also drove about 15 mins to a beautiful waterfall. It was a perfect way to spend the weekend. Carlos and his wife were wonderful to work with and always responded quickly to any question we e-mailed them. Thank you both for allowing us to come stay at your home. We will be back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.

We had a wonderful stay in a wonderful house with an awesome view of the lake and mountains! Kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/dishes which are a must since the closest restaurant is a 30 minute drive. My favorite spot was the swing under the covered porch! The hummingbird and bird feeders were great; we filled both up and were treated to a lot of beautiful birds. Hope to be back next year!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Wow! This home is everything that is described plus MORE! It really is the best view in Bear Paw! The entire home was spotless, inviting, and very well-stocked. We felt as though we were visiting a relative's home. My daughters loved the ping-pong table. The owners were very helpful and easy to contact. They have thought of everything! We can't wait to return.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

About the owner: We are residents of Tallahassee, Florida, and are retired high-school teachers. 2013 marks our 44th wedding anniversary! We have two children who also live in Tallhassee and two grandchildren who live close to us. We enjoy visiting our rentals in Boston, MA , Nashville, TN, and in Bear Paw near Murphy, NC, but we also enjoy sharing the fun with you. We have many repeat renters who have become friends to us. We keep our rentals clean, well-furnished and updated for your enjoyment.
Why the Owner Chose Murphy:
We had vacationed in Bear Paw several times and enjoyed the area a great deal. It is in a gated community near Murphy, and has beautiful views. We liked the fact that there is an olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis court and basketball courts to provide entertainment. Our children, who are grown now but were young at the time we built our first house in Bear Paw, absolutely loved to go there. Since the area has rentals and permanent homes, we did not feel like we were tourists; we felt at home.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We like swimming and fishing on the lake as well as boating. The swimming pool and playground are nice for the little ones. It is such a peaceful place. If you want activities, there are plenty around, but if you want peace and quiet, Bear Paw is hard to beat.
