Whether you are a honeymoon couple or a group of eight, we want to thank you for considering the Blue Bear Haven as your vacation destination here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Please take the time to read our top ten reasons to stay at the Blue Bear Haven.
1)This Chalet offers the perfect blend of Mankind and Nature. Your choice when visiting, is to simply turn right or left at the base of our mountain. Turning right brings you immediately into the National Park, and turning left brings you immediately into Downtown Gatlinburg. Location! Location! Location!
2) Waving to the passengers on the Aerial Tram from either one of the two large decks (or the Hot Tub), always makes your heart smile with satisfaction. With Mt. LeConte in the background, and the jealous Tram riders waving back, you and your family will be making memories which will never be forgotten.
3) The Blue Bear Haven is just what its name implies. A "Haven" of comfort and a "Bear" of convenience. With the lower deck and the double sliders, transferring luggage and foodstuffs from the level parking area is only three steps to the comfort of the indoors.
4) The upper deck is just as large as the lower deck. Gliders, Chaise Lounges, Tables and Chairs, and lots of room to roam, offer you the chance to truly enjoy the mountain air in our Nations' most visited National Park. From the upper deck you can also gain access to the Chalet through another set of sliders.
5) The Living Room features a Fireplace and a Surround Sound Cable TV with DVD/VHS Player, and a 5 disc stereo CD player. We also provide a selection of CDs, VHS movies, and best selling Novels for your listening, viewing, and reading pleasures. It is always decorated in respect to seasons and holidays.
6) Visiting the Great Smoky Mountains requires planning before you arrive. That is why we provide you with plenty of personal help answering phone calls and e-mails. Do not hesitate to contact us at anytime.
7) The Game room is where the action is! Everyone of all ages will enjoy the Foosball and Game Tables. We provide a variety of board games and there is a seating area nearby with yet another cable TV equipped with a VHS player, and a game system with 40 games to choose from! The Game room is enhanced with a lower level fireplace and adds ambience to this "Bear" of relaxation. Firewood is located right outside the door (seasonally). There are both a full size washer and dryer located in this "Haven" as well.
8) A very rare amenity in the Chalet is the Piano Bar! What better way to relax after a busy day vacationing than to kick back and sip your favorite beverage while listening to one of your fellow guests play the Piano? This unique area gives you the chance to take a break alone... or with the whole gang!
9) Throw your swimwear on and hop in the Hot Tub! The Tram is in view of course, but you are going to be way more comfy than those folks! The Hot Tub boasts a lightweight cover, multiple soothing Jacuzzi jets, optional lighting, and temperature controls for your enjoyment.
10) The Blue Bear Haven has two queen and two full beds. Two of the bedrooms are on the upper level, while the other two are on the lower level. This ensures privacy for separate families, couples, or children. Each set of bedrooms share a full bath and each set of bedrooms are graced with at least one cable television and a VCR player. Unlike many other chalets, all bedrooms have privacy doors.
Thank you for considering the Blue Bear Haven here in Gatlinburg. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail for additional information.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Stoplight 10
The Blue Bear Haven is perfectly situated. When vacationing we wanted to be close to everything but not in the chaotic center of it. We wanted to play, but then relax as well. And if friends were joining us the driving directions were simple. Many days were spent using the Blue Bear as a rally point due to its' proximity and comfort. Finding Serenity in the Smokies was never so easy. We even renewed our wedding vows here at one of the Chapels!
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
Waking up and seeing the sunrise over Mt. Leconte first thing every morning while listening to nature and watching the Aerial Tram make it's first quiet trip up to Ober Gatlinburg is a very peaceful way to start the day. Four to five minutes of travel gets us to the Store, the Park, the Owners Club and Pool, Ober Gatlinburg, or the lead to the By-Pass to Pigeon Forge. The location is excellent! And if we decide to stay in, there are plenty of books, movies, board games, and even a piano to keep us entertained.

Great cabin, great location!

We had a wonderful visit to Gatlinburg... the cabin was great for us because of the extra living space to spread out. We could have one group watching a game downstairs, and another group having conversation upstairs without having to shout. We also loved having the fire going - very cozy! Another big plus was the level parking area. We have had a really hard time in the past at other cabins, because my parents are not as steady on their feet as they used to be. The location was perfect - in just a few minutes, we could be on a trail in the National Park or in town at a restaurant for dinner!

Mike and Robin, We had a wonderful time! We did see 2 bears outside the house, as well as a mom & 3 cubs while driving down the mountain! The layout of the house was great for us. Some of us could rest easy while others were playing. Thanks for all the tips, especially the driving ones. We had a blast!

we got there ,went in and then we left. old musky smell, toilets backed up, spider webs everywhere, place needs a cleaning outside mildew all over. called owner told him we wasn't going to stay because of the issues, only got half of our money back. we had a baby and kids with us and this place wasn't where i would want them to stay. place has a good location but needs alot of work!
Owner response:The guests 24 hrs prior to this had no problems. After a pleasant conversation via telephone and being told that the Blue Bear was in "Overall Good Condition but not up to the guests' standards" we offered a split in monies rendered to avoid any ill feelings. We feel as though this is quite simply an extremely unfair rating when compared to our guest book in house as well as the positive reviews posted here.

My boyfriend and I stayed here earlier this summer and just loved it! I had stayed in chalets before, but he hadn't, and he didn't know what to expect...he was totally blown away! The Blue Bear Haven is very nice, and at the right price! The two floors keep you from ever feeling like you have cabin fever, the hot tub was a great way to relax outside, and the deck was where we'd eat our breakfast every morning. There is PLENTY of space, so we hope to come back with friends sometime. Best of all, the owners are so so nice. They live close by and are happy to answer any questions.

This property was the perfect spot for our party to relax and enjoy a few days in the Smoky's. The home-like atmosphere was a refreshing change from staying at motels or hotels in the area. I will definately consider staying here again when my party includes at least 4 people. The Blue Bear Haven was close to everything we were interested in seeing and doing, but away from the hustle and bustle. After a day of sightseeing it was a perfect place to relax. My freinds and I spent every evening on the top floor porch just enjoying the veiw and watching the tram! Thanks for a memorial trip! Denise.
Owner response:Comments like this put into words what we try to explain to folks making inquiries. Price is important but location is a priority as well. Not only did this party verbally compliment but the conditions were near perfect when they left which puts them at the top of the list for any return visits.

We just spent a wonderful week at this chalet. During this time my brother and his family joined us. This chalet was arranged perfectly for us to have private time and time together. The boys enjoyed the hot tub and the game system. Mike was wonderful in sending information before the trip that we could use to make our plans before arriving. It was off the beaten path which was great because it was quiet and you could relax which is what I was looking for, yet close enough to shop and enjoy the town and the park. I especially liked that I could take our dogs and they also enjoyed being at the chalet. They had area to explore and we didn't have to worry about cars coming up behind us as we were walking them. I would highly recommend this chalet to everyone but then that means it could be rented when I want it again. It has two fireplaces that I wished we could have used, but the weather was warm and we didn't have an excuse to use them.

My family had a wonderful time at this Chalet. It had everything we needed, all the comforts of home. The hottub was a great way to start and finish our day. We loved having an upstairs and downstairs. Our boys loved having the Sega and piano to keep them busy when we were not at the pool or taking in the sites. The owners recomended a few sites to see and even left us coupons and brochures. We even got a glimpse of a bear. Thank you Robin and Mike you were both so nice , I had not one worry. The Chiminey Tops area you recomended was so awesome and breath taking. While we were there we saw about 30 butterflies sunning on the rocks.
