Holiday-makers have been renting the house since the summer of 2008 and the guestbook is full of enthusiastic reviews of people who have loved it. You won't be disappointed.
The house has been completely redesigned and reconstructed by a talented local architect using local materials and techniques. It combines modern convenience and envioronmental awareness and is situated in one of the most desirable areas of the Madonie. Located on the slopes of Mount San Salvatore near the medieval Polizzi Generosa in the heart of the Madonie National Park. The house offers spectacular views of the town sitting up on the hilltop, the mountains and the valley itself. Spring water from the nearby underground source runs along canals through the one hectare property. It is also used to fill the natural, stone pool which you will be able to enjoy on warm days.
Ancient oak and hazelnut trees surround the house and the beautiful lawn at the front is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal, a drink or a good book. There is also another shady eating area next to the pool.
A foot bridge takes you to the other side of the stream where you'll be able to see the magnificent stone wall that was once part of the flour mill. There are a dozen of these mills in the area which are of great interest due to the fact that they were water generated.
In the main part of the house on the ground floor there is a spacious dining area, sitting room with an iron wood burner, well-equipped kitchen, master bedroom, single bedroom, main bathroom and WC. All the rooms are tastefully furnished, both stylish but down to earth and the high ceilings give the house a light and airy feel. An outdoor staircase leads to a small, independent apartment with its own terrace and bathroom. Ideal for a second couple or teenagers who like their privacy.

We had such an enriching experience. This beautiful home in Madonie was our base while we experience so many wonderful parts of Sicily. The views are phenomenal and the garden vegetables here delicious! The food here in town was great, some of the best pizza at the Pionere. We especially enjoyed the days playing on the beaches of Cefalu, shopping and fun excursions there (beware that some of the vendors will try to make you pay more than it is actually worth!) Overall a wonderful experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Martinache family wanted to say: what a pleasure! Great house and fantastic landscape. It definitely was the best spot to relax. It was full of surprises: cool weather, tasty vegetables and unexpected fog. I am now the king of the barbecue and my sister the queen of the washing dishes. As usual, us kids do everything. We all wanted to thank you and I'm sure we'll come back soon. Grazie MilleDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Well I can only echo everything that has been said, beautiful and magic place. We were not well when we arrived but we feel we missed out on nothing-being here and visiting surrouding hills and valleys has been wonderful. We had a fun time with Cetina and loved the food she cooked for us, all biological/organic grown locally. Complimenti also on the style of the house, classy! Like others before us we wish we could package up some of this place and take it home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a very quiet and peaceful place for those who want to live in the rural countryside but with the benefit of a town close by. The location in the mountains means that the weather is cooler in the morning and evening. The mountain stream and freezing cold plunge pool really cool you off on any hot days. The local town is very friendly and welcoming and there is plenty to see internally and on the coast. We did get a bit bored of going up and down the mountain so not for those who want to spend every day on the beach. The house and garden are charming and simple with fresh figs and vegetables when available and good appliances. Perfect for 2 couples as the double rooms are far apart and private.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a wonderful house in the Madonie mountains. Beautiful views, tranquil and private, although neighbors are close by. The town of Polizzi is only 10 minutes away. Some would consider the site remote, but if you want to be in the Madonie, this spot is hard to beat. Easy to get to Cefalu if you want the beach. The house is charming, in excellent condition, and the owners are attentive and helpful. We picked vegetables from the garden, wildflowers for the table, and soaked up the sun. The owners are a wealth of information and even arranged a cooking lesson for us. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was our first visit to Sicily and we very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely villa. The villa is high on a hill with spectacular views overlooking the valley and looking up towards the historical village of Polizzi which is within walking distance. The villa is newly renovated with lots of character (beautiful polished concrete floors, lots of stone and a wood heater) and well equipped with all that we needed. We made most of our meals at the villa as the kitchen was very well appointed and it was so nice to be able to cook with the fresh herbs straight from the garden. We also loved sitting on the stone terrace enjoying a glass of wine after a day exploring the surrounding area. Though too cold for us to use, the natural rock pool would be a great place to cool off in the hotter weather. An added surpise was the the ancient flour mill ruins and fresh spring water running from the mountains through water channels on the property. The owners Leanne and Giuseppe are delightful. They met us at the villa and went out of their way to help us with maps and ideas for trekking, places to eat and places to purchase groceries in the village. They made our stay absolutely wonderful. Thank you. We hope to return one day.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
