Our family had a wonderful time at Ocean Villas West. The house was beautiful, clean, well maintained and had a lot of extra appliances/gadgets in the kitchen that were fun to use (eg. panini style sandwich maker). It was nice having most of the beds made when we arrived (with the bunk beds being the exception) and the towels were in abundance (even beach towels!). We enjoyed playing poker with the poker chips provided by the owners. There were many DVD's and videos to choose from, along with puzzles, books and games. The owners are very responsive should the need arise. I would recommend the property to anyone interested in staying on Emerald Isle. Fort Macon was an excellent destination, as was the Aquarium. The BBQ at the Bogue Restaurant in Swansboro, a short distance away on the other side of the bridge, was excellent (as recommended by the owner). All in all, a wonderful vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family just returned from a wonderful vacation on Emerald Isle. The condo is steps away from the ocean. We enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting seashells. The condo is even sunnier and more spacious than can be seen from the photos. Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 adult-sized teenagers) had more than enough private space to read and nap and enough communal space to visit, eat, and watch a movie together (the condo has satellite TV, wireless internet, and a small but thoughtful collection of DVDs). We were all surprised by how much we enjoyed the view of the ocean out of the large windows throughout the condo. The back porch is a great spot for dolphin watching and lunch. The condo was immaculately cleaned before we arrived. The owners have really thought of everything that their guests might need. There are extra linens (towels, blankets, pillows, etc.), the beds are comfortable, and the showers have good water pressure and hot water. The kitchen is very well stocked (they even have a tea kettle!). We joked that we could cook Thanksgiving dinner in that kitchen and only bring the food, the recipes, and the people! The large dining table had room for both a multi-day puzzle project and dinner. While our kids are past this stage, we appreciated that the owners provided families with young children with baby gates, a booster seat, a high chair, a crib, etc. These items are all easily accessible in the closets, but they are out of the way if you don't need them. We enjoyed borrowing the bikes, and our youngest child road everyday. It was also nice to have the washer and dryer (and an outside clothes line with clothes pins) for a mid-week wash. Even considering these wonderful accommodations, one of the best parts of our trip was working with the condo owners. They are genuinely interested in helping their guests have a great stay. When we met one of the owners to get our key, he gave us a map of the area and the current visitor guides. He also mentioned the activities that he thought our teenagers might enjoy (Ft. Macon, the NC Aquarium, and the Blackbeard exhibit at the NC Maritime Museum). We enjoyed visiting all of these spots. In the kitchen the owners have placed a helpful information book about the condo (internet password, etc.) and the area (many restaurant menus, flyers about sightseeing spots, etc.). This book is a great example of the care that the owners take in the condo and their guests. We can't wait to visit again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My 3rd stay in Ocean Villas West . . . and once again delightful. As described in the listing, Ocean Villas West is right on the ocean - - an easy walk down to the beach. The duplex is clean, well-maintained, and very well equipped with everything guests might need to enjoy their stay on the coast. A small maintenance issue - a shower head that needed replacing - was taken care of as soon as it was reported. The owners continue to be helpful and responsive. Both Swansboro and Beaufort are favorites for walking around and shopping day trips. And we never tire of the food or camaraderie in the oyster bar at Jordan's located on the main drag through Emerald Isle. I do believe the oysters this year were the best we have ever had. Once again, the pterodactyls (otherwise known as pelicans) were frequent visitors. This year the porpoises were regular guests and particularly playful. They put on quite a show several times as we sat on the deck soaking up the sun. While walking my dogs on the beach, I spotted 7 baby loons in the water learning to dive (and feed, I assume). We have learned to take less "going out" wear and more lounge wear as Ocean Villas is such a pleasant place to be.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family has been going to Emerald Isle for the past 24 years. We began going there when our kids were young and now we enjoy the beach with our children, their spouses & our 5 grandchildren. Ocean Villas is the perfect place to make family memories. The beach house is immaculate with every amenity you could think of. We have enjoyed dealing with the owners through the years. Their goal appears to be providing their renters with a perfect beach experience. In our case, they succeeded. The house is comfortable and lacks nothing. It certainly has our seal of approval.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Of all the vacation rentals that we have experienced, this unit is the best. Location, cleanliness, and owner response can't be beat. Our Christmas week was cold but the view from the living area and 2 of the bedrooms made us feel like we were on the beach. We will definitely stay at Ocean Villas West whenever we come to Emerald Isle.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The K duo and poodle are 2nd time visitors at Thanksgiving. We have been luxuriated and pampered at the Zimmerman abode by the sea. We truly appreciate your generous and thoughtful amenities - - great kitchen. I can view the water as I slave over mussels and shimp - sunrise and sunset never to be missed yet I arise and go to the deck only for the spectacular - TV's are terrific - Visio is fine in picture quality - King Size Bed ~ thank you from 6' 6" 260 lb Paul so excellent in comfort - Love the canvas painting in the living room ~ we see your home Thanks you John and Gloria! Until next year Adieu to our seaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This year was our second trip to Ocean Villas West and this year we brought our elderly jack russells who loved the house and beach as much as the rest of the family. The view from all of the large windows and decks can't be beat -- we saw dolphins a couple of times. Everything is clean and as described. The owners make it very clear that they are available if you need anything at all and even shipped us some of my son's clothing that got left behind (at no charge!). We plan on returning next year and my boys are already asking when we are going back.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay for our week vacation in Emerald Isle. The house is amazing, had everything we needed for our family including 2 preschoolers! The view from inside and outside is breathtaking, the walks on the beach perfect! The weather was great! Will definitely come back to this place again! The owners were great, even had to bail us out as we locked the keys inside, there wihtin 15 mins to let us in! Really couldn't have asked for anyting more! One of my BEST vacation EVER!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info

About the owner: We retired to the Crystal Coast (AKA Paradise) eleven years ago and have found true beauty and relaxation. We enjoy all of the benefits of living here - golf, boating, fishing, beach walking, and just sitting on the deck drinking wine. The problem with living here we miss that wonderful feeling of driving across the Emerald Isle bridge at the start of the vacation.
Why the Owner Chose Emerald Isle:
We previously vacationed in Nags Head and decided to try the Crystal Coast after receiving an ad describing a bird and turtle sanctuary. We fell in love with Emerald Isle the first time we drove across the Emerald Isle Bridge and felt the stress of DC leaving us. We bought Ocean Villas the second year and have never regretted it. It is now a relaxation haven for our kids and grandkids.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Watching the dolphins play while drinking coffee on the deck. Seeing our dogs romp on the beach and in the ocean
