About the owner: This house was built in 1978 as a ski cabin called (Wit's End) for good reason. I am a designer in Truckee and travel a lot to and from the bay area so I am looking for caretakers who love this place as much as I do. Wit' End has been an enjoyable family get away and the longer I own it I find myself spending more and more time at this cozy little house. Difficult to get away from and always a sigh of relief to return to. On those rare days when I can curl up with a book by the fire the tranquility and silence is hard to beat. Reluctantly I've even managed to get work done here.
Why the Owner Chose Donner Lake:
Wit's end has been a small family home.....not a big house for gangs of people and we prefer it that way. The location of the house with its great lake views and deck can't be beat and represent a peaceful and serene environment. A pleasant throw back from Lake Tahoe of the 60's without all the hustle and bustle of west shore Tahoe activity. Its proximity to highway 80, easy winter access and a well plowed road in winter makes the commute from the bay area bearable.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is at lake level with great views. For us the fact that we can walk to the west end beach in 1 minute with a wagon full of stuff or walk or ride our bikes around the neighborhood in the evenings on a flat road is a plus. The proximity to Truckee with its shopping and dining is also very convenient for a quick trip into town. Whatever house you choose to rent at the west end location you will enjoy the by-gone era of Donner Lake.
