Thank you Robert for a great stay at "The Cottage" The accommodations were just as wonderful as stated in the descriptions. The villa was clean and very well equipped. The location of this villa was perfect, as it allowed us to jump to our favorite beaches, shop till we dropped on Front Street and dine at our favorite restaurants Mr Busby's and Mama's Pizza. We will definitely recommend this villa to our friends and hope to return soon. Thanks again. Paul & ChantalleRecommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I chose Chateau Jeca for our third trip to St. Martin due to it's location in the Oyster Pond area, our favorite area of the island, and because of the great reviews it has received. From the moment we drove through the gate, we were amazed by Robert's creativity and vision with what he's done with the property and the cottage! The gardens, stonework, paths and sitting areas are amazing. There are multiple decks, terraces and gazebos with beautiful views of the property, island and ocean, as well as a hot tub and pool that are available for your exclusive use during your stay. Robert was there to greet us and show us around when we arrived and had stocked the refrigerator with some beer, soda and wine...a very nice touch after a long day of traveling! After that, we felt like the place was ours and we rarely saw anyone with the exception of our new friend Luna, Robert's dog. The cottage is well appointed and no detail has been forgotten. We chose to visit one of the many amazing restaurants each night that are within a very short drive of the cottage, but if you like to cook and eat in, you won't be disappointed with the kitchen and utensils. The bed was so comfortable that we actually had to check to see what brand of mattress it was! We love the Oyster Pond area because it's much more serene and beautiful than most areas of St. Martin, yet still within a 10 to 15 minute drive of Philipsburg, Dawn Beach, Orient Beach and several of the best restaurants on the island. Chateau Jeca provided us with a wonderful home base for our daily and nightly treks. Robert - thank you for helping make our stay so carefree and enjoyable. We hope to see you again in the future! We made our first trip to St. Maarten from 3/23 to 3/30. I can't stop thinking about our wonderful experience. Our accomodations are right at the the top of our list of what made our fifth anniversary trip truly special. Prepare to be wowed the moment you pull into the driveway of Chateau Jeca. The landscaping from the natural trees and rocks to the stone walls and potted plants provided a remarkable atmosphere. There are many places to just sit and take in the surroundings of the island - very relaxing. The pool was fantastic to lounge around and the jacuzzi was nice to use after a day of zip-lining at Loterie Farm. The inside of the cottage was also very nice...much bigger than you would expect from seeing the pictures. You walk into the living area with the galley style kitchen on your left. You then go up a few stairs and the bathroom is on the left. Once in the bathroom, the shower is down a couple stairs as kind of a "dungeon-style" on your left. It was really neat. The bedroom is up the stairs further outside the bathroom. Robert was a great host. He made himself available if we needed him or had any problems, but we didn't see him otherwise...he left us alone. The Oyster Pond area is a ways away from most everything on the island, but we liked that. And it wasn't any longer than a 30 minute drive to Phillipsburg or Marigot. Very easy to get around. Thank you Robert for your wonderful hospitality and allowing us the use of your beautiful property. You made our trip very enjoyable.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Guys, Thanks for the kind words. I am glad you enjoyed your vacation and the time at The Cottage. Hope we see you again. Robert

Robert- The Cottage is an indoor/outdoor architectural masterpiece. Robert has done an amazing job creating this very unique environment and the view from the deck off of the bedroom is fabulous. The interior of the cottage is nicely appointed and very interesting. You are provided with a private entrance off of the road by way of an electronic and secure gate and can park your car just a few steps from the front porch. Robert is very responsive to emails and was even kind enough to look into what happened to an old friend I had met in Grand Case some years ago. Sadly the news was not good. The daily morning walk into Oyster Pond is a great way to start the day but be aware that the walk back can be a challenge! Our only disappointment was that Robert was stateside during the first part of our stay so we only had one opportunity to sit down and chat with him. This is a very nice place! Addiction did occur. This is our second stay at the cottage, as we were here last year, same time of year, escaping from the cold and the snow of Quebec. Looking for the warmth of the caribbean, the comforts of the cottage at Chateau Jeca, and the friendly welcome of Robert, our host. As soon as you put your luggage down, you realize that this cottage is growing on you, for it is rapidly becoming a home away from home. We are still "sous le charme". Luna was a joy. This peaceful retreat is what you would expect and so much more. Our host, Robert is discrete and always available. We had a great time, returning to the places we know and enjoy on the island. But still, after numerous stays on St Martin, we never get tired of the diversity and are discovering new things to see and do. This Island is full of surprises ! Once again, Robert, we can never thank you enough for a wonderful stay, as we realize that efforts are needed to keep Chateau Jeca and its cottage, clean and comfy. We were glad to be back and are eager to come again next year. Stay tuned for part. 3 ! Merci beaucoup.Owner response: It was great seeing you both again this year and look forward to your next stay. I am glad you enjoyed yourself fully, since vacations usually come once a year. Cannot wait for part 3 Take care, Robert, and Luna

We had a wonderful stay at Chateau Jeca for our honeymoon in early November. The listing was accurate on all accounts; very clean and modern. Robert did everything to make our vacation as comfortable as possible. The location is great, very close to Orient Bay, where we spent most of our time. It was very easy to cook at the cottage if we wanted to or eat at any of the great restaurants (we liked Chesterfields in Philipsburg and Paradise View on the way to Orient Bay) or Lolos in nearby Grand Case. And we loved hanging out in the hot tub or pool in the evenings. We would definitely recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for privacy, a great view, the comforts of home, and a unique St. Maarten experience. Thanks again for a great vacation! -Maris and Andrew MokeyOwner response: Maris and Andrew, Thank you for your review. So glad you enjoyed your vacation (honeymoon). Look forward To another visit. We stayed at Chateau Jeca for a week for our honeymoon and loved it! Tucked in the hills above Oyster Pond, it was secluded while being centrally located to some great restaurants (such as Mama's Pizza and Big Fish) and a nearby grocery store with basic supplies. Plus, since St Maarten is so small, it didn't take much time to get anywhere including Orient Bay, the Grande Marche, and Maho Beach. We loved spending time in the jacuzzi with a glass of wine and also very much enjoyed afternoons in the pool which, while right next to the main house (Robert made sure we had it to ourselves as wanted), was a great and relaxing quiet "break" from the sand and salt water. The house was well appointed and had everything we could need including beach towels, pans for cooking breakfast, and a blender for frozen drinks. Robert also included some cold drinks for when we got there which was a wonderful touch and surprise and epitomizes our excellent experience with him from booking the cottage to leaving for the plane home. There are also two AC units in the cottage (upstairs and downstairs) that made the place cool and comfortable quickly. We loved sitting up on the balcony outside of the bedroom to star gaze at night. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway that's removed from the hustle and bustle of island life while being so close to everything. Robert was a wonderful host. We felt very welcome and safe the entire time and will definitely stay here the next time we visit St. Maarten!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words and glad you enjoyed your stay. We all look forward to your next first. Enjoy your life together. Robert

We stayed for a week at the cottage. It's as beautiful as every one the pictures and we enjoyed ourselves the entire stay... Couple of notes... Luna is a wonderful German Shepard "puppy" who's very happy to greet you, but if you're afraid of dogs this can be uncomfortable. Also... if you're renting a car at the airport, do yourself a favor and get a jeep or 4x4. The road UP to the cottage is quite a climb. Our car's lawnmower sized engine had me thinking it just wasn't going to make it. Then I remembered the low gears :) All n all it was a wonderful week. Robert, our host was great and always available.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Nothing about our vacation in St. Maarten left us disappointed, including the cottage at Chateau Jeca. This amazing property offered us breathtaking views, beautiful landscaping including clean pool and romantic hot tub, privacy and security. Additionally, this vacation allowed us to roam freely around the island in our rental car and come "home" to relax after days spent on sunny beaches or shopping for duty-free jewelry. During our one-week stay in St. Maarten, we prepared many meals at the cottage in addition to going out to enjoy the highly rated restaurants on the island. The kitchen offered us all the comforts of home and the grocery stores had everything we wanted and more. Although we were not overly interested in the island nightlife, there seemed to be a variety of entertaining options. We can't praise the beach scene enough! Our favorite beach was definitely Orient Bay....don't miss it! Duty free shopping is so close you can't pass up an opportunity to strike a deal if that's your interest. Upon our arrival, Robert took us for a tour of the cottage and made himself available for future questions or directions. Beyond that, he respected our privacy and we rarely saw him. The cleaning service provided regularly made this stay more like a hotel resort than a cottage. The dogs on the property made us feel secure and welcome all at the same time. Overall, our vacation to St. Maarten with accommodation at Oyster Pond has been our best yet. This was truly a vacation to remember and place to return to in the near future.Owner response: Glad you enjoyed your vacation and enjoyed your stay at The Cottage. Look forward to your next visit.

This cottage is wonderful! My wife and I had a very relaxing stay. To start off, Oyster Pond is a very charming community. There are many large villas, local hotel/resorts, a few restaurants and the marina. All very quaint and fairly quiet. We even walked to nearby Mama Pizza one night, which was about a 10 minute walk (though the trip back up the hills was brutal - we were warned). The view from the cottage balcony was beautiful. We spent mornings and evenings sitting in the comfy chairs admiring the lights in the hills and the ocean. Luna, the German shepherd greeted us every morning and other times throughout the day. She was very bouncy and playful and we loved her very much. The cottage itself was perfect and very romantic. It was bright and clean with a very modern yet charming feel. The bed was comfortable and we slept soundly each night. There are two air conditioning units and ceiling fans, one for upstairs and one for down. They quickly brought the cottage to a nice comfortable temperature. We didn't use the televisions, but there were two large flat screens should we have liked to. The kitchen was stocked very well with very modern appliances. We used the microwave several times to heat leftovers. The bathroom was very unique and beautiful. Robert welcomed us to his property and took us on the cottage tour when we arrived. There were even cold drinks in the fridge for us. It really was a dream to stay in such a nice cottage. Thank you, Robert, for opening your cottage to us and being such a kind and generous host. We will never forget our first visit to Sint Maarten and we hope we might be able to stay at Chateau Jeca again one day soon!Owner response: Thank you for your excellent review. Glad you enjoyed you stay. Hope to see you soon again soon. Luna says Hi

We stayed at the Cottage for a week and had a great time. The Cottage is compact, but is convenient for use and works quite for two people. The kitchen was fine and we ate breakfasts, most lunches and a couple of dinners at the Cottage. Good restaurants are 5 minutes away by car and the superb French restaurants in Grand Case are 20 minutes away. The outstanding feature is the setting. Sitting on either the upper or lower porch, or in the gazebo or by the pool, you overlook the Atlantic below and are surrounded by beautiful gardens. We had full use of the pool and nearby hot tub and used them frequently. We have used VRBO rentals frequently, but this is the first time we have had maid service three times/week. Robert was very helpful when we had an inquiry, but we rarely knew that anyone else lived in this beautiful compound. We have had about a dozen visits to Caribbean islands, and this was the most enjoyable.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 9 night visit to beautiful St. Maarten. It was our first visit and we managed to see most of the island. Oyster Pond was a great location to be based from for exploring the entire island. The cottage was perfect for our needs, private, clean, restful and well maintained. We really appreciated the supplies in the fridge, as we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and Grand Marche, the supermarket was closed. There were so many great restaurants, beach bars and beaches but our favourite beaches were Pinel Island, Friar's Bay and Happy Bay , Le Galion and Baie Rouge. I would recommend that visitors bring bug spray if they haven't built up an immunity to Caribbean mosquito's, and an underwater camera if they plan to snorkel. I would definately recommend this property.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Addiction may occur... We stayed at the cottage for 4 wonderful weeks. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome from Robert. His availability, the comfort of the cottage and all the amenities on site were up to our expectations. It is truly a very special property. We appreciated the super confortable patio chairs and the view from the upstairs patio, the fresh towels every other day, and our Spa sessions In the morning after workout. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we already booked for next year. Merci beaucoup Robert, We left 2 beach chairs in the closet on the second floor. It might come handy for future renters. Please that care of them. We hope to use them again on our next stay. Regards to our new friends, Annie And Luna. Looking forward to our next escape on the Island. This is a great place to stay on vacation. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The gardens and pathways are wonderful for a nice walk, and we loved sitting on the upstairs porch drinking our coffee in the mornings. Of course we immediately made a new friend, Luna, whom we enjoyed tremendously. She came to visit every morning and sometimes in the afternoon to play. We love to cook, and the kitchen was great. Do remember to bring your favorite coffee or teas, sugar and such so if you don't stop to shop you’ll have those things. Bugsy's by Oyster Marina serves a good breakfast, and there is a small store in marina also. Do rent a car, I could not imagine walking up and down those steep hills several times a day, though I saw it being done by several couples. Being able to drive to other beaches is a plus. And Orient beach is a must see. Lots of water crafts and things to do, several good restaurants, and great bars on beach. The cottage was so serene and relaxing it was just as enjoyable staying at the cottage as going out to the beach. Though we were almost able to visit all the beaches, I think 10-12 days are needed to complete that task. We will definitely stay here next time we come to the island. Thanks to everyone for all you have done to make our vacation wonderful! See you soon Paula and JohnOwner response: Paula and John, We are so pleased you enjoyed your vacation. We enjoyed having you and Luna was pleased as well. We look forward to your next visit. All the best for the New Year. Robert, Amalfi and Luna

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at the Cottage. The pictures online are well done, but the property is truly more beautiful in person with wonderful tropical landscaping and little paths that lead to the pool, hot tub & porches of the house--our favorite was the bedroom porch that offers warm breezes & lovely views of the ocean. We found the location was very convenient--5 min. to Oyster Bay Beach, 15 min. to Orient Beach, 5 min. to several very good restaurants. We had our best meal at Canoa, but Big Fish & Capt. Oliver's were good as well. Mr. Busby's was good for breakfast. The kitchen was nicely supplied if you want to cook. We don't cook much on vacation, but I'd recommend you stopping at Le Grand Marche on the way in from the airport & pick up snacks, drinks & other necessary items. That way you don't have to run right out again after unpacking. You can settle down on the comfy chairs on the porch & relax. We actually brought our coffee & creamer with us in our suitcases, so if there's something you really like, then bring it with you from home! Robert (owner) is very nice to work with and always answers your e-mails within a short time. It was interesting to hear how he built the house & actually lived in the cottage for a short time while the house was being completed. Luna (one of the dogs) is a presence and quite friendly & loves to have her back scratched. Petson (gardener) is around most days & is happy to answer questions. You might have to tell him to slow his speech a little so you can understand him! All in all, you probably won't see Robert unless there's an issue to address, so it's pretty much your own little private estate to enjoy---which we thoroughly did. We'd come back again & much prefer staying here than in a hotel. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is stylish & nice. Get fresh linens every other day, hairdryer provided-plug is near celing! We rented a car through Paradise Rental & had a very good experience--no unexpected fees, etc. and they were prompt in getting us to & from the airport. Get used to dodging the potholes, as they're most everywhere--especially in the towns.Do drive around the whole island. Only takes about 1.5 hours if traffic is clear & gives you an overview of both the French & Dutch sides. On our drive back to airport, we ate lunch @ SkipJack's on the porch (Simpson Bay) & watched pelicans dive for fish--a fitting way to end a lovely vacation. Thanks, Robert!Owner response: Guys, thanks for your review. I am so happy you enjoyed your vacation. We all know how important a pleasant vacation is. Look forward to your next visit. Luna sends "barks". All the best for the holidays and the New Year. Robert

The view and pool area was great!! Enjoyed the privacy. Great for R and R. The pool area is what makes this location The cottage had plumbing problems such as no hot water in bathroom sink so shaving in kitchen sink was not very convient. The kitchen was not stocked very well with glasses or cooking utencils if you enjoy cooking. The sheets on the bed was very worn and the towels in the bathroom did not match plus there was no where to hang a towel in the bathroom and the shower had some mildew in it. Cottage was a little cramped for long stay but would not be a problem for just a few days. If steps are not your thing this cottage would be a problem with the steep steps to the bedroom. Petson the gardener, makes a great security person and is willing to help in any way. The Oyster Bay area offered good restaurants so traffic could be avoided. The night club nearby may make it hard for sleep as they play until sunrise and the noise was very loud.Recommended for: Romantic getaway
Owner response: Our main goal is to insure a fantastic vacation and take all renters responses seriously. There is a hot water coiled syatem through the unit. The single faucet needs to be turned to the left for hot water. Stocking in the kitchen is set for 4, since it only accomodates 2. However caretakers are there 24/7 for any additional assistance. Housekeeping is done every other day, with a change of sheets and towels. Any items not up to standard can be reported immediately to the caretakers. We want to insure your comfort. A hook will be added for towels. Presently stored under the vanity. Size is a personal issue, however, The property is represented as a cozy place, it is not a Villa. Finally the area where the property is located is single family residential, the night club is about a half a mile away outside the subdivision. Music lately has become an issue at times when they leave the doors open. The association is filing a compliant to govt to operate not disturbing neighbors.

The "cottage" is under described, its very comfortable, in a great location for both the French and the Dutch side. We felt totally safe and looked forward to our days around the pool, nights in the hot tub and BBQ's under the stars. Shopping, be it duty free or groceries, is 20 minutes either way and selection is first class. The North American style supermarkets are very well stocked so self catering in the kitchen at the cottage is easily done. Booking-Robert is a pleasure to deal with, very professional, courteous and replies speedily. If changes are needed he gets back and stays with it to ensure your peace of mind. We had to change air carriers and he was acommadating, it was the depth of his service that impressed. Getting there-Directions from the owner were easy to follow just tick off the landmarks as you go, we rented from Empress Rental-Car, Heard some horror stories from some of the well known providers, just turn left from their office and you are on the road to Roberts. Hired a Hyundia i10 and it coped with the road up to the cottage no problem. Empress were good, efficient and no BS when we took the rental back, very competitive rates and no surprises. Location-Passed several small grocery stores and 3 large ones on the way so getting food is no problem. If you want to eat out, 20 minutes to Grande Casse, 5 minutes to Cap't Olivers or Busby's. Very good pizza, cheap but very well prepared and served is 5 mins from the cottage and can be seen off the balcony. The cottage-Very comfortable, pics do not do it justice, the bed assures you of a good sleep, the AC works and cools the place down quickly. TV if you insist on watching gives lots of channels (good for sports and news). Bathroom is very elegant, lots of hot water and a very nice shower area. BBQ is a charcoal, can get briquets from the Grande Marche, we enjoyed using and cooked some good meals and enjoyed nights at "home". The hot tub and pool are fully what you would expect from the description, the pics are not photo shopped, just have to pinch yourself when you are there. You are in a secure and gated community and electric gate on to the property. The two guard dogs, Luna and Annie will probably lick you to bits once you accept them. Petson the gardener is a wealth of knowledge on the property and the Island for places to go. Its a very private location so enjoy. Would go again and should have booked longer.Owner response: Guys, Thanks for your kind words and full description for future visitors. It was a pleasure having you and enjoyed our chats of "world changing" consequences -lol. Hope to see you again, Regards, Robert, Luna and Annie

The cottage has great amenities, great views, and a great location. The bed is extremely comfortable and the AC and internet were working great. The jacuzzi and the pool were also a nice addition. The only major downside is that there's a bar/nightclub somewhere down on the main road and the music drifts up to the cottage late into the night. It wasn't extremely loud but a little inconvenient at night. Other than that, we had a great stay! It was an excellent getaway and highly recommended for couples.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

From the moment of our arrival my wife and I fell in love with the cottage. Robert, the owner, supplied perfect directions and was waiting paitently for our arrival even though we were delayed by traffic at the airport. He was warm and welcoming as he walked us through and explained how everything worked and then left us to enjoy his lovely cottage. The online pictures do not do the warmth of the cottage nor the views from the many decks justice. The cottage was immaculate inside and the gardens and grounds outside reflected this same care. It is also perfectly located if, like us, you want to explore the many beaches of St. Martin. The internet access made it easy to keep touch with our kids and with March madness in full swing I did take advantge of the flat screen tvs to keep an eye on things. My husband and I spent eight nights at the cottage in March 2011. It was our first trip the island. We absolutely fell in love with St Maarten/Martin, as well as the cottage. Renting a car is a must if you stay here, but renting a car is a must if you really want to explore the island, as well. We loved getting in the car every morning to head out to a new beach or hike or restaurant and returning at the end of the day to the sanctuary of the cottage. The cottage was clean and well-stocked. The view of the sea is beautiful. We would note, though, that the cottage is two stories with very steep stairs up to the second floor, which is the bedroom. Thank you so much for a perfect vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Robert was nice to stay up until midnight after we got lost getting there. The cottage was superb and more than we imagined it could be. We truly had a very special week. I can not compliment it enough. The caretaker was super helpfull. My wife is a professional chef and the kitchen was superbly equiped. Wifi was great. Would like to keep this place a secret but had to write a glowing review. Thank you so much Robert for making our dream trip come to life..We will be back asap. We spent a week at this cottage and loved every moment of it. It has all of the amenities and they worked great - kitchen appliances, strong wifi signal, cable tv, air conditioning, etc. Outside, the grounds are perfectly maintained and beautiful - pool & hot tub. It's a very clean and modern property. The owner was friendly and helpful before and during our stay. The roads to the property are pretty hilly and curvy by US standards but nothing too treacherous. Driving here just takes a little getting used to. There are two resort / marina type areas close by (~5min drive) with restaurants, ATM, beaches, etc. It's a great launching point for driving to Orient Beach (~20min drive), or Grand Case (~30min drive). Personal highlights were Pinel Island Beach and Sol e Luna Restaurant - on the french side.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your time and effort in reviewing our property. We are pleased you enjoyed yourself and look forward to a return visit.

What we got here was absolutely beyond our expectations! This place is wonderful and photos simply can't capture the space and feel of the property. The multiple balconies and levels of the cottage and the immaculately landscaped property that it sits on are amazing. The clean modern decor is easy to get comfortable in, and the spotless hot tub and pool were a pleasure to enjoy in the evenings. And the hospitality rivals even the best hotels! This was our first trip to St Maarten and Oyster Pond was definitely the right area to stay in. Its clean and quiet and the restaurants are great. Great vacation at an amazing property in the best part of the island! Couldn't ask for more.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
