The house lived up to it's description and amenities. Very spacious home, great kitchen all the gadgets to work with. Our group did a few minor repairs while spending quiet days at home. There is a lot of driving involved by staying here but very close to the two best beaches on the island. (Hapuna and Mauna Kea.) This is definitely the dryer side of the island and warm temps prevail when you get to the lower elevation. Fairly cool at the house a 12 degree difference from the west gait to the house. We did use the hot tub but only a couple times in the pool, very cool. The pool area is a lovely space to sit around, all the comforts of home. A great space for a large group. Pam was a great help with anything we needed and helped to point us to grocery stores and shopping. The Blue Dragon was a great experience, good food and fun atmosphere.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

A great place to stay for two adults. The Cottage is a one-bedroom, living room, small kitchen equipped with refridgerator, microwave, toaster, small counter oven and no dishwasher. So, don't expect to do gourmet meals. It is a quiet place to come back to after a day of exploring and eating great meals in Kawaihae and Waimea! Thank you again! Will definitely come again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The house was beautiful with wonderful views, comfy beds and everything you need to make it feel like home (or better!). We explored the entire island; the house is close to fantastic restaurants, beautiful beaches and shopping. Renting a house made our week-long extended family vacation simple and relaxing; it was nice to get away from the crowds and have breakfast around the pool.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The photos that led to our renting this house were in no way misleading - we were stunned even when we arrived at 3:00 a.m. (our time at home). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there - all the rooms in the main house were comfortable, and our three children enjoyed staying in the guest house. The pool was quite cool (as noted by the owner), but we did enjoy the hot tub! We cooked all but one night and found the kitchen to be more than amply stocked and the outside grill in good working order. The views from this house are amazing and included a beautiful rainbow over the house one afternoon. We were even treated to views of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. It is windy at an elevation of almost 2,000 ft, and we also had to contend with the tradewinds (something that is not under the owner's control, obviously). All the rooms were clean as were all linens and towels. The owner was in touch with us during our stay to be sure that we knew she would answer any questions we had. We highly recommend this property - it is well-suited to families or several couples traveling together. Thank you for our blissful stay on the Big Island of Hawai'i!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Amazing spacious home and guest house. The pictures couldn't capture the true size. Yes, it is higher in altitude but coming from Colorado we loved the altitude. The unusual high winds and expected rainfall didn't deter us from any of our planned adventures. The comfortable temperatures made our experiences well worth the other discomforts. It was great traveling up the mountain at the end of the day to relax, cook, enjoy the pool and the amazing sunsets. Pam was very helpful in responding to our needs and yet very non-invasive. Welina place was very clean and maintained. Kitchen was adequately supplied and bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, spacious for all adults. We thank you for the accommodations and the memorable experiences. We recommend this place to family and friends. Deep sea fishing with Marlin Parker, swimming with wild dolphins with Dolphin Discoveris, hiking at Kilauea Volcano, touring Moana Loa Macadamia Nut Factory and Kona Joe's Coffee Plantation, Hilo Bay Cafe, Kona Brewing Company are all worth a visit. Food shop in Kona before going to Welina place. There's a Costco and a Walmart. Waimea has a Foodland. A lot to do on the Big Island but not enough time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at Welina Place was wonderful. The house is beautiful and well maintained. The pictures do not do the view from this home justice. If you are looking for somewhere remote to sit down, drink a beer, relax, and grill... this is the vacation home for you. Nights were a bit windy but during the day, the sun is out and about, which makes the pool even more tempting. Pam was so helpful when it came to our needs. The drive up the mountain was a bit long but the seclusion was worth it! Our group of friends are already talking about going back next year! Thanks for everything! My family stayed at Welina Place for six days and I must say that the place was fantastic. The pool was better than expected and the view was worth every penny. The Kohala area is very underrated in my opinion and we enjoyed the slow pace of this part of the island with many things within an easy drive. The home is really top notch with all the luxuries expected. In the evening, the stars shine bright and every night we counted numerous shooting stars. My twin boys really enjoyed the animals that roam the open range in Kohala Ranch. This is a perfect place to get away from it all. Pam was wonderful and was very accessible with any comments or needs about the home. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My family and I rented this house, and we had a good time. The listing was very accurate in what you get, and the home is full of amenities. If you want to stay somewhere, with no noise, and no nosy neighbors, this is the place. The main house is finished very nicely and has all the amenties that you could ask for, and having the guest house right next door was delightful. If you plan to see the island, spend some beach time, and have a great place to relax, this is it.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and had such an amazing time! The house is just amazing! It's sitauted high up in the mountains overlooking the ocean and lush green hills and provided us with the seclusion we were looking for, but just a 10-minute drive down the mountain and we were by the water. The house was beautiful, newly-built and had all the ammenities we needed. The kitchen was awesome, the master bedroom and bath and closets were huge and the family room area was lovely. We grilled our own food at night outside by the pool with lit tikki torches and the view of the sunset in the ocean every nightw as breathtaking. The owners thought of everything we needed - a ping-pong table in the garage, all the towels we needed, a yoga mat, even Kona coffee beans and a grinder in the kitchen! This was truly a 5-start residence and we didn't want to leave!!! :o)Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

This fabulous house is set on high ground with an amazing Sea view and the Sun Sets are "to die for." Evening drinks by the outside pool are guaranteed spectacular scenery of the Sea and other islands It is set within a gated community with all the assuring security. It will offer Privacy and peace as there is little traffic except between homes. You know you are on Ranch territory because of grazing cattle but this adds to the" Away From It All " feeling. The setting is minutes from the main road into the coastal resorts or alternately, the winding country road down to Waimea a small valley town which contrasts greatly to the coastal areas Something for all with a modern well appointed Home with very good facilities providing comfort and ease. I can recommend this house for all ages although the pool will need to be considered for very small childrenRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
