  I could never say enough good things about Swor Cottage and the people here! My husband and I married at Swor Cottage in April, and it truly was the wedding of my dreams. As beautiful at Swor Cottage is in pictures, its even more gorgeous in person, and definitly worth a visit out there. The owners, Larry and Scottie went out of their way all weekend to accommodate everything that I envisioned to make sure that I had the day I dreamed of. From the planning stages months in advance, to last minute changes the day of the wedding, they were welcoming and helpful every step of the way. There was room on the grounds for family to stay as we prepared for the wedding, and we could enjoy the lake and grounds all weekend. The result is that we have amazing memories of time spent with family and each other. The lawn, oak tree, boat house, beach and cottages were all perfect for our wedding and make for beautiful photos! My husband and I cannot wait to return someday. I would recommend Swor Cottage to anyone for a wedding, vacation,or any other reason.

  Our stay at Swor Cottage was in the Bunk House and compares to nothing else we have ever experienced! There is a surprise at every turn when you survey the grounds with beautiful beach and fresh oranges and grapefruit hanging off the trees waiting to be picked. From a casual kitchen with easy access to the lake to ooohs and aaaahs at the top of the stairs. It brings you back to another era where the tough and tumble shared space with western luxury. The beds guarantee a good night/week's sleep. The quiet and peaceful lake enviorement can be replaced with a short drive to many golfing opportunities, shopping and restaurants. The hospitality of our hosts will long be remembered. They were always there if we needed them but rarely visable when we were on the grounds. We look forward to our next visit to Florida at Swor Cottage.

  We were searching for a place that can accomodate and entertain 6 young boys, ages 6 to 10. And im please to say we have found it at swor cottage!. It was exactly what we needed, to enjoy nature and peace, while having so much fun. The boys slept al together in the Bunkhouse first floor. It was like a summer camp, they had their independance so they could talk until late at night. During the day we will use the canoes and kayaks, play in the beautiful beach, look for fishes at the lake, enjoy coffee and drinks at the boat house over the lake. The sunsets were incredble. The boys explored all day, they found so many insects and toads. They will catch the toads and name them. At night we will do a fire just outside the kitchen, so we could have dinner while looking at the fire. The last night we did a big bon fire which the boys enjoyed terribly, same as the adults. There are 2 grills, so we did a lot of grilling and enjoyed being outside. The Bunkhouse has everything you need, a lot of space and equiped with all the details. But what made also our stay so special were Scottie and Larry, the owners. From the first moment they received us as family, so warm and opening their house to us. Larry took the boys to visit a neighbour farm, the boys played with the chickens, saw them lay eggs and visited some cows. Every day there was something to do and discover. Impossible to get bored. For the boys was paradise, the same for us, which we enjoyed the nature and peace. We relaxed and had a lot of fun. We miss the fires and the smores we did each night!. It a great place to go with family or friends and specially super active and curious young boys! We will be back! Thank you so much Scottie and Larry for your hospitality! You are great hosts that made us feel at home! See you soon!

  My husband and I couldn't have asked for anyplace more ideal that the cottage on Big Lake Weir. The cottage had every detail I was looking for to have a small, intimate country wedding and the owners were so amazing with us; helping with anything at all we needed. From the gorgeous oak tree, amazing view, plenty of space for everyone in the bridal party to get ready and lake house bar. We were even able to enjoy the reception with a bonfire on the beach, which was the greatest way to celebrate our new life. We still receive compliments on how beautiful our photos were in all the beautiful scenery. We cannot wait to visit again :)

  Owner response: Small weddings of 100 guests or less come together beautifully at Swor Cottage. Plenty of room for a large tent if needed, either on the beach or under the huge, old oak trees. We cherish the memories Larry and I have of all the special weddings that have taken place here, and we look forward to many more in the future.

  My wife and I (and 3 other couples) had a couples Bass Tournament on Lake Weir that weekend and one of the couples found the Swor Cottage and Bunkhouse. Not only were the accommodations spectacular, but Larry was an awesome host. The place is on one of the most beautiful lake in central Florida. The fishing was great and the views were even better. Even the boaters on the lake seem to be enjoying themselves. :) Thanks again for the best weekend we've had in quite awhile!

  Our blended family spent a glorious long weekend at Swor Cottage last Summer and when the question came up about how to spend our family trip this year, Swor Cottage was the number one pick! From the 4 year old, to the Papa, and all the teens and young adults in between, each family member loved this beautiful, enchanted place. The pictures and description given on the website do not do justice to the unique charm of this property. The lake and all the activities it allows provides for endless hours of fun, whether you want to just relax at the water's edge or spend your time boating, skiing, wake boarding, tubing, fishing. We did them all. From the peace of the morning lake, to the sunset viewed through the moss of the huge oak on the front lawn, and all the adventures in between, Swor Cottage allowed my wildly diverse family a special place to bond, and to learn to love each other. The beauty and charm of Swor Cottage is a perfect reflecton of it's owners. Although they live on the property, they allow you the privacy you expect while on vacation. Their warm and gracious presence actually added to the richness of our experience. I have referred friends who came home from their Swor Cottage get-away feeling exactly as we did: This is a place you want to go back to.....and you wouldn't change a thing! Our family will be back again this year...and many more to come I'm sure!

  This is THE PLACE to stay in Florida!! We felt at home immediately in The Cottage. It is surrounded by tangerine, orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees, in which the Swors openly invited us to indulge in. Delicious!! We also enjoyed BBQ’ing and playing on the private white sand beach! And as the sun went down, brilliant fireworks illuminated the sky over Lake Weir (we were there on New Year’s Eve). We rented Swor Cottage as a transition place for our relocation to Florida over the holidays. It was the perfect place for our two large dogs and us. We were able to leave our dogs when we took day trips into Orlando, and would come back to find our dogs safe, clean, healthy, and happy. If you are concerned about having the owner’s on site, don’t be! The Swors are “one-of-a-kind” sort of people. They heartily welcomed us without being intrusive, and were graciously available for anything we needed. We had just left Montana, and this was the first Christmas we didn’t spend with family. Sensing our “empty nest” disposition, the Swors generously invited us to spend Christmas with their family, a truly heartwarming proposition. We loved getting to know these kind, generous, and remarkable people. We would not have had as smooth of a transition from Montana to Florida if it weren’t for the Swors. We consider them our Florida Family!! We recommend Swor Cottage Private Resort to anyone and everyone as THE PLACE TO STAY!! It is absolute paradise.

  Lake Weir is a favorite vacation destination for our family and Swor Cottage is the best rental we have found, and we no longer need to search for the perfect spot! This is the place where we will spend our family vacations for years to come! We vacationed with eleven family members aged 9 to 69, and all were entertained from relaxing/building sand castles on the white sand beach to swimming and using the kayak and canoe provided, to watching sunsets and wildlife from the porch of the boathouse, to competitive volleyball games on the beach for all ages - this is the place to be! The amenities are too many to list! There was ample room and then some for all of us between the Bunkhouse and the Cottage and the Swor's were the perfect hosts - anything we needed, they were there for us - I admit, I was concerned about staying on a property where the owners lived (in their own home) with our five children, but unless you needed them, they were very consiencious about our privacy and wanting us to enjoy the time we had together as a family - we did enjoy chatting and visiting with them however! The grounds are well kept and the orchard was in full bloom with all we could eat oranges, tangerines, lemons, and limes! Both the Bunkhouse and Cottage were beautifully designed/decorated and were also well kept. I can't say enough about what a great place this is to vacation! The pictures in the ad are nice, but are nothing compared to what we found waiting for us on Lake Weir.

  This was indeed the best vacation I have had. It was my son's graduation party and the swors went out of their way to meet our every need. I have never had such a peaceful, relaxing vacation. The grounds are beautiful, the house is incredible, and the owners were awesome. Even the parrot was much entertaining hearing "scotty" a place never forget and will be returning soon.. The Kenyons

  Our experience at Swor Cottage was incredibly great in every way imaginable. We found everything about the place better than what we anticipated. The grounds are kept like a park- very well maintained. The owners made us feel welcome-just like cherished family. We had the entire estate to ourselves both day and night. It was fantastic! We will be back but this time it will be for at least a week. Thanks Larry and Scottie for sharing this great place.
