  We can honestly say that our two-month stay in this delightful house wasn't long enough. The views from our lanai--sparkling ,open waters, glorious sunsets, the antics of dolphins and fabulous water birds--were endlessly entertaining. The house was roomy, comfortable, and carefully maintained by our hosts, Mac and Amy McLean. The pool was immaculate and fishing from our own dock was a great pleasure. Pictures on the VRBO web site are good, but the real thing is better! We would love to return to Matlacha and this very special house next year.

  We've just spent 2 months in the best house in Matlacha. Both the house and the location on the bay are exceptional. Mac and Amy, the local managers, are great and make you feel like it is your home. We'll never have another two months like this.

  Amazing and relaxing! We had gorgeous sunsets and romantic dinners on the lanai! The weather and the home was perfect, it was the best, we're looking forward to returning to our favorite little island!

  Matlacha is a magical place! This is truly old Florida. The people are all so friendly and the Island is unspoiled. The look out the back window to the pool and bay was breathtaking each morning. Dolphins swam by the dock 2 times a day. The fishing off the dock was excellent. The heated pool was enjoyed by all. Having Mac and Amy close by to answer all our questions was a big help. We can't wait to return to Matlacha.

  We found paradise! And you have, too! This 2BR House in Matlacha, Florida is the perfect getaway for a family, a couple, or visiting friends. The property is spacious, well-maintained, and very nicely laid-out. The pictures shown are great, but they can't capture the pleasure that awaits you when you arrive. The beds are super-plush and comfortable. I loved the two separate indoor sitting areas, although we didn't turn on the TV the entire time that we were there; it was just too beautiful to stay inside! The kitchen is spacious, updated, and very accessible with all of the amenities of home to make a top-notch dinner. Fry up some fish that you could catch directly off the dock (or call Captain Brian and "Changes in Latitude," and he'll take you on an enjoyable excursion)! The view is lovely, whether you're sitting on the lanai, lounging by the pool, or sitting on the edge of the dock, and the area is quiet and peaceful--complete with the occasional dolphin and manatee making an appearance. Taking a dip in the pool, a leisurely bike ride, or enjoying a trip on the kayaks are just some of the activities that you can partake in without leaving the neighborhood. The house is a quick walk from shops and restaurants, and a quick drive to anywhere else you'd want to be. What a friendly neighborhood! If you're looking to relax and enjoy the splendor of your surroundings in a place that is the perfect combination of Heaven and home, look no further! We will definitely be returning again!

  our 2 week stay in paradise was everything promised and more! the house was very comfortable and felt like home! even the fishing in august was better then i expected. while fishing the mangrove flats for redfish with captain brian, i caught 2 sharks! oh ya, did also catch redfish, snook, trout and several other species. matlacha is a great place to visit and i sure would like to live there some day!

  WOW! We just returned from vacationing on Matlacha in this rental and absolutely loved it. We have vacationed there before but this was the first for this rental. I would definitely rent this home again. It was exactly as described on the internet. The pictures don't actually do it justice. The dock was so convenient for my husband to dock our boat and even fish from. The property was very clean and very well maintained. We had everything we could possibly need in the home. Very comfortable! I liked the two different living rooms. One with a television, one without. So you could sit and relax or read in one while someone else watched tv in the other. It fit our needs perfectly. We have eaten at most of the restaurants on the island and enjoyed each and every one, our favorite would have to be, Red's. It's not far from Matlacha and they have everything on the menu. Their Mango martini's are out of this world. I definitely would recommend this rental to anyone.

  This home delivers everything promised and then some! Judy is so prepared. Mack and Amy were so helpful. The location is perfect for sea-going or land-lubbing. You can't say enough about the sunsets. The vibe is total relaxation from inside the home, to outside at the pool and waterside, to "downtown" Matlacha with it's "come as you are" restaurants and shops. This rental can't be beat for an authentic Florida vacation. Highly and genuinely recommended.

  We have had an excellent vacation in a property that met all of our expectations. Wonderfull outlook with a magical sunset every evening. The home was clean, well equiped and as described on the website. Matlacha is the last vestage of old florida, friendly (be ready to greet everyone you pass on the street), with quaint shops and welcoming eateries specialising in fish. The fishing off the dock was awsome - caught well over 100 fish in the 2 weeks we were here which included feeding us with 6 good dinners of spotted sea trout. I would recomend this home to anyone seeking comfort and relaxation in a non-typical, different and quirky florida location.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
