Lazy K is a beautiful log style cabin perched on the side of a mountain overlooking wonderful layered views of the Blue Ridge Mountains! You will feel totally relaxed and at peace in our cozy cabin looking out the french doors down the valley from the great room with the fire burning in the fireplace or enjoying coffee and hot chocolate on the huge back deck watching the sun rise over the valley, often with morning mist below you.
This is a great house for 1 large family or two smaller families with two master bedrooms with queen beds(one on the main level and one downstairs) and a fun kids bunkroom with one bunk bed and 2 twins downstairs (4 twin beds total). The den downstairs is a great place for the kids to play or watch tv or a dvd while parents enjoy some quiet time upstairs in the great room, on the large back deck with outdoor speakers or on the covered front porch.
The Cabin is within close driving distance to many North Carolina ski and tubing areas - Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Ski Hawksnest and Appalachian! The community of Valle Crucis with the original Mast General Store and great Valle Crucis community park along the Watauga River are a short drive down the valley. Banner Elk, Tyne Castle, Foscoe and Boone are all within 25 minutes of the cabin.
You are close to many fabulous activities such as horse back riding, trout fishing, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tweetsie Railroad, skiing, tubing and hiking!
IN THE WINTER MONTHS IT IS NECESSARY TO HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND/OR SNOW CHAINS OR CABLES!
We can now accept credit card payments securely over the web!

My family and I stayed at this cabin with another family. With 4 adults and 4 kids, the cabin was perfect for our needs. The scenery was beautiful, the quality and cleanliness of the cabin was excellent, and it had the ideal amount of space to make our stay comfortable. It snowed for the first 3 days of our visit but we were perfectly content to enjoy the scenery and relish having nowhere to be. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely stay here again!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

You know a place is wonderful when you go back again the next year and that exactly what my family did last weekend. One of the great things about finding a home like the Lazy K and returning is that you know the ropes. No missed turns, no wondering where the heck you are going as you wind up Clark's Creek & Justus Roads, and you can make the transition from your everyday grind to vacation mode so much quicker. It helps to have an amazing, perfectly-appointed cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the mountains. Once again, the owner Sandy was very easy to work with. Four adults and four kids fit comfortably in this home, especially with the great set-up in the third bedroom (2 twins and a bunk bed). We were about 20-30 minutes from everything and this time around we hit Beech for skiing (our favorite so far), Hawk's Nest for tubing, App Ski for skating and Foggy Mt. Gem Mine just for kicks. If you are looking for a true NC getaway, need a place that fits two families like a glove and you like the feel of a mountain retreat without having to rough it, look no further.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This was my third visit to Lazy K and its been a wonderful retreat in every season. My favorite part of a stay at Lazy K is waking up to the spectacular view- I think the owners picked a very special spot. It's tempting to just stay in the cabin, relax and enjoy your beautiful surrounds but there is also plenty to do in the area. The owner was very helpful in providing suggestions of activities- this visit included a walk in Moses Cone Memorial Park, choosing a Christmas tree at Big Ridge tree farm and popping in at the Mast General Store. The cabin is clean and well cared for and I would definitely recommend it to others.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The "Lazy K" is just amazing. We spent a week this summer and I can tell you we will be back soon. We were very busy during our week there, every day we had something different to do (hiking, zip-line, shopping, or just hang out at the cabin). Our kids (4,10,12 y/o) fell in love with the place and did not even care to go out. First morning during breakfast time we had a family of deer greet us. We had plenty of time connect with nature. At the same time the location is very convenient to both Boon, NC and Banner Elk, NC. Also, Sandy was great to deal with and had a lot of tips for us. If you are considering "The Lazy K" for your next vacation you won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We escaped to Lazy K during the summer heat wave at the end of June and suffice to say that I have found my new 'happy place'. During the heat of the day the cabin was beautifully cool thanks to the central air conditioning and in the evening when it cooled down we threw open the windows and doors to the fresh mountain air....utter bliss! The cabin is so much more than we expected and loved everything about it, luxurious yet practical. The owners did an amazing job decorating and I was totally blown away by the unique cabinetry in the kitchen and bathrooms, all of which are hand made. There were 5 adults and 2 children in our party and there was loads of room for everyone, no waiting to use the bathroom. There is plenty to do and see in the near vicinity and Sandy was fabulous recommending Antique stores nearby and walking trails for us do. The Mast General Store is close by and definitely worth visiting. (Just a hint - take ID along if you plan to pay by credit card as I was carded twice in 2 different stores) Do yourself a favor and stay at Lazy K, you'll be so glad you did....I find myself wishing I was back there all the time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I'm not one for writing reviews because they always seem to be so slanted; either they are glowing and wonderful or angry and critical. But heck, after the awesome stay my family just had at the Lazy K, I think I'll make an exception. I am a research junkie and spent countless hours on VRBO before deciding on this lovely cabin in the Banner Elk area. Everything was just as advertised, in fact, the pictures online don't do this place justice. From a state of the art kitchen, inviting gas fireplace in the main living area, panoramic back porches and open floor plan to the warm decor and beautiful wood floors, walls and accents, this truly was the perfect place for us. It even dumped about 8-10" of snow while we were there Jan. 12-16. The owner Sandy was very helpful when our MapQuest directions failed us and her communication from the beginning was excellent. My wife and I traveled with our 4 and 2 year olds as well as my wife's sister, her husband and their 5 & 7 year olds and it was plenty of house for the 8 of us. The downstairs room with two twins and a bunk bed were perfect for our needs. We had a blast sledding right outside our door and we headed to Sugar Mountain (about 25 minutes away) for skiing and Hawk's Nest (also 25 minutes) for tubing. Both fantastic venues, especially the massive tubing facility at Hawk's. I suggest avoiding Sugar on MLK weekend as the lines were terribly long and that place just wasn't ready for that much traffic. All in all, this was everything we could have hoped for. I even bought snow chains for the tires despite thinking they might be a waste of money. We used them three times, so thank you to Sandy for making that disclaimer; we wouldn't have made it back up the mountain without them. Honestly, we enjoyed our experience so much, we already have plans to return next year. Again, a big thank you to Sandy and we look forward to enjoying your cabin in the years ahead. Sincerely, MikeRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a family trip planned to visit my daughter at ASU for the “Battle of the Old Mountain Jug”. Our family consisted of 6 adults and 2 college age kids and there was plenty of room for everyone. The cabin is very spacious. The downstairs area with the additional living room was perfect allowing for extra space to retreat to. With 6 women in the group there was plenty of bathroom space and mirrors so there was no stepping on toes when getting ready. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Plenty of space for cooking and hanging out. The cathedral ceiling entrance, living room and dining room views were awesome. Everything was well thought out and labeled so it was easy work everything. The entire cabin was clean and immaculate. The beds were all comfy and the linens were great. You definitely need 4 wheel drive once the snow starts in and I would recommend arriving before dark to initially find the cabin. Already planning to go back and stay here for another game next year! Awesome cabin! Pictures don't do it justice, you have to see it in person! I would definately recommend this cabin to family and friends. The owners were helpful in answering all the questions we had about the rental and the local area. Had a great time!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Lazy K for my mom's 70 birthday celebration and had a wonderful time. We felt like we were away from it all, on top of the world! The house itself is beautiful, set in a gorgeous setting. My boys (6 and 8) love the bunk room. As others have said, the kitchen has staples you'll need and is incredibly well appointed. We can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
