If you are looking for a quintessential Santa Fe Adobe with all the amenities possible within the heart of Santa Fe's Historic East side,
this may be for you. It is situated just 1/2 block off Camino del Monte Sol. This street was the home of some of the original artists
of the Santa Fe Art Colony.(Will Shuster, Fremont Ellis, Joesf Bakos, etc) Just walk 3 blocks down Camino del Monte Sol and you will be at Canyon Rd. where you can eat at El Farol or Geronimo Restaurants or shop at over 75 Art Galleries. Walk 4 blocks up Camino del Monte Sol and you will be at Museum Hill. (Folk Art Museum, Museum of Spanish Colonial Art, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian ). The entrance to the Walking Trails in the Santa Fe wilderness is about one mile. Acequia Madre Elementary school is 5 blocks away. Santa Fe Prep school is also about 4 blocks away.
LA CASA:
If the location looks good to you, then I also think you will love our house. I was a Designer /Builder in Santa Fe for 40 years and my wife was an Art/ Indian/ trader/dealer for 30 years with a Gallery on Canyon Rd. This house reflects all of our years of collecting and designing/building houses. The house is 100 % adobe handcrafted (5,800 sq ft of heated space and 1,200 sq ft of Portals and BBQ area.) There are vigas in all rooms, 5 fireplaces, flagstone floors, hand carved doors, white hard plastered and natural clay colored plastered walls. All the door hardware is hand forged, all cabinets are hand made. The house has a very traditional look ( Pueblo Revival). There are 40 plus skylights which light-up the interior.
There are three bedrooms: a master suite with king sized bed on one side of the house with a large walk-in closet, and large bath with sauna, Jacuzzi tub, two sinks all surrounded with Italian stone and tiles. The two other bedrooms are on the other side of the house. Each has a queen pillow-topped bed and each has a complete bathroom with Jacuzzi tubs, Italian tiles, onyx and marble sinks with stone counter tops.
There are two Media Centers. The major family Media center has a library and 60" wide Samsung TV, DVD, VCR, Blue Ray. It is located between the Living room, Dining Rm, Kitchen. The other media center is smaller with a 42" flat screen TV, DVD, VCR and is connected to the two smaller bedrooms. It could be used as a playroom or a library/office. Both Centers have Internet/WIFI.
There is a large Kitchen with 4 ft wide "SubZero", "Thermador" cooktop/ grill, double ovens, Microwave/ Wine cooler/ "Bosh" Dishwasher/ RO filtered water dispenser. There is semi-circular banco eating area. ( seats 6) at one end of the Kitchen. The Kitchen leads out into a long Portal and garden patio with and enclosed BBQ /kitchen for eating outside. This BBQ area has a" DSC" gas grill with rotisserie, copper sink , copper hood. The kitchen is beautifully appointed for gourmet cooking. Just off the kitchen is the Laundry/ Utility room and Pantry.
The Dining Room is formal with a small kiva fireplace. French doors open out onto grass patio. Dining room table seats 8 people. Old tin work lamps light up the room.
Living room is large (580 sq ft) with 11 ft high ceilings with large vigas, a grand Rumsferd fireplace and custom semi-circular sofa that faces the fireplace. There is also a bar with sink and bar top in one corner of the living room. There are large french doors that lead out to another grass /garden patio.
HIGH TECH:
All the house has wireless Internet access, there are 9 portable phones, most light switches are on dimmers, TV is available in both media centers and the Master bedroom, there is a "SuperCool" swamp cooler system through out the house. The Alarm system is monitored locally. The heating system is the state of the art with "Viesman" Boiler and under the floor hydronic heating system. This is a very efficient hot water system.
EXTERIOR:
The property has an adobe wall all around the street side and the rest of the property is fenced . There are 5 parking spaces available, no garage.
The patios have grass areas and mature landscaping and trees. Old growth Cottonwoods and mature fruit trees give the gardens shade and a lush feeling. Within the patios and courtyards there is an interior area that is fenced off from the rest of the gardens that can be used as a secure dog area. The neighborhood and street are very quiet.

This rental has it all. You will be so happy here. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the high quality cookware and appliances you could want. It has staples like spices and flour and salt and pepper, etc. You don't need anything here. They thought of everything! The outdoor space is great, vast, and fully enclosed- great for our 7 and 9 year old and their 1 1/2 year old brother. The bathrooms are amazing, I especially appreciated the steam shower as I had a cold while there and it was perfect. The bedrooms are all very spacious and each with it's own private bathroom. The two media centers worked out great for the kids and us to watch different things at the same time. They have a vast- kid appropriate DVD library. Another great addition was the fully stocked wood pile for the many fireplaces in the house. We had a couple dinner parties and had no less than three fires going at once for a special occasion. Super cozy. The skylights let in so much light that there is never a reason to turn on an interior light until the sun goes down. And the lighting is extraordinary. There are so many lighting choices it is almost too much. Lighting for any mood. Art lighting, task lighting, ambiance lighting. They really paid attention in the remodel to lighting. The grill in the kitchen and the built-in grill in the back yard were also key. Parking is easy in front or in back and the house is fully alarmed and lockable. I would suggest this rental to anyone for anything. One of the best parts is how considerate and attentive the owners are. They are literally a few blocks away and if you ever need anything they are available.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

House is terrific spot for exploring the city and surrounding areas. Easy access to art galleries, downtown and hiking. Three independent master suites make it ideal for group of friends or teens. Great living room, eating areas and fireplaces. Great owner who was caring and attentive. Only minor negatives.....wifi in main area only...does not reach lower bedrooms....one of the bedrooms only has bathtub. Overall we made a great choice and would go back in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a wonderful home !!!!! A great place to call home while visiting Santa Fe. Located just off canyon Road makes it a ideal location. We even walked to down to the Square from the house...just 20 minutes and a very pleasant walk besides. The rooms all have bathrooms and can be very private. The outdoor courtyard is also very private and makes a great cocktail and bar-b-que evening. The kitchen is a cook's dream...the big screen TV made the football games fabulous. The dining room and separate bar area made for wonderful entertaining....and the fireplaces/kivas were great at night. We liked it so much that we are coming back this next March with another couple !!!!! A repeat customer is just about the best review that one can get !!! So thanks for the super stay and see you in less than 120 days for some spring skiing.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This is a beautiful home located within walking distance of Canyon Road. It is very close to the Plaza and lots of other local sites. The house was accuratley represented in pictures and description, but I would have to say it is lovelier than pictures can actually represent! It was perfect for us, as we all had our seperate areas, but also very nice common areas to get together. The yard was perfect for our pooch, Susie! She loved being able to walk the perimeter and having plenty of grass to do her business! The house was very clean and lots of supplies were available to us! There are multiple fireplaces, which we took full advantage of, since we were supplied with plenty of wood! The outside portal was our area of choice to gather with friends. There was plenty of seating throughout the house as well as outside! The owner was wonderful in helping when we needed her. There is also plenty of off road parking which is nice in Santa Fe. Overall, the house was a smashing hit with all of us. We would definately come back again. Tahnk you for letting us rent your lovely house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.

If you are looking for cosy, homely and spacious all at once, this is the ideal home - quite honestly the photos do not do this adobe home justice - it is simply breathtaking. My husband, daughter and I stayed here for six weeks November 2011 to Mid December 2011. Very clean, with all amenities to hand including some essential supplies so we did not have to run to the store immediately upon arrival. The owner left good, clear instructions for all the electronic equipment, emergency numbers to call. Everything was in good working order. This is your typical adode home, just delightful in every way. Location could not be better, walking distance to restaurants and local stores.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

Very comfortable, homey and perfect for entertaining. Very few problems arose, and were handled immediately. We stayed 9 months, it was warm, quiet and close to everything. Bedding and linens, kitchen ware, etc. were of excellent quality so we were very comfortable. Nice to have the cat and dog come along with no worries. Great owners and a great place to stay with kids or teenagers!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

About the owner: We have lived in this house for many years and raised our children there. My wife owned and ran an art gallery on Canyon Rd and I was a designer/ builder of adobe homes. My wife is a native of New Mexico and I have live in Santa Fe for over 40 years. We both have a long history in Santa Fe and we love our house very much. We hope we will find others who will enjoy our house as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Historic Eastside:
This house has been our family home. It has been in the family for about 40 years. We finished a complete remodel just 4 years ago. It is perfectly centered for our lifestyle: close to Canyon Rd where my wife worked and close to schools. It also is truly the heart of old Santa Fe. There is a lot of history centered around this particular part of Santa Fe. We love to walk around the East side streets and see all the beautiful adobes and the gardens.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our family has enjoyed our house for many years. We love to sit in the living room with a big fire and just talk and read books--the couch is deep enough to fall asleep on..... The kitchen banco seating area is another favorite area to sit and watch my wife prepare food for our family. Then there is our favorite seating area after dinner which is to curl up on the media room sofa and watch on the big screen either a movie or some TV. In the Spring, Summer and Fall , we love to sit outside under the portal and listen to the water dripping in our garden fountain and enjoy at the roses and fruit trees.
