My family stayed in this unit for a month. We have 4 small children (6,4,2,2) and I was worried before going whether or not they would have fun. The house has a great little lawn out front, perfect beach and some great volcano rock areas for the kids to explore! The kids were perfectly happy as were my wife and I. We could run along the path, watch surfers, go surfing and get groceries easily! This house is right in the middle of everything you want/need on the North Shore! The house itself was great. It was comfortable, the bathrooms are a nice size and it was very clean! We highly recommend this home!

Can't say enough about this place, it was great. We saw whales from the dining room table our first morning and it only got better from there. The bikes were great to ride down to Ted's Bakery, Foodland and Waimea. The managers made the visit very enjoyable. We're definitely staying here again next time.

Three generations shared this house for Christmas and it was splendid. The open room plan accommodated adults and children comfortably. The kitchen was very well equipped as were the baths. All the electronics and wifi were first rate, but the deck and beach access were the best. What a world class view - even with the rain and surf of winter, we had a fabulous time. Our daily stroll to Starbucks and the grocery store were a pleasure. We visited waterfalls and beaches all close-by. What a wonderful find. The office staff at Tropial Waters was responsive and most accommodating. Five stars for sure.

We just finished our family vacation in Hawaii, this was our home. Great location, very clean and updated. Incredible views, great beach, we walked to stores, sharks cove, and other beaches. We will definitely stay here on our next visit. Loved it and would highly recommend staying here to anyone!

We went to the North Shore this year in March to celebrate our 20th anniversary and my parents 50th. I didn't want the crouds and wanted a beach front home to stay in. After reviewing about a hundred homes along the North Shore, we finally settled on Mako Hale from Tropical Waters. AMAZING!! This house had everything. It was spacious, super clean, and peaceful. We came home every night and BBQ'd our dinners, sipped on great wine and whatched the amazing sunsets. We watched whales every day about a half mile off shore and a couple of times they came as close as about 100ft. off shore right outside the house. We never got tired of watching the waves crash off the rocks right out front and when we got 35ft plus waves the one day...mind blowing. This place was close to everything yet far enough away for the serenity...if that makes sense?! We tried to find something to critisize about the Mako Hale but came up with nothing. My whole family will have these great memories because this house. We will be back to the North Shore again one day and we will stay here again...not even a question of doubt!! The whole experience with Tropical Waters has been terrific. We highly, highly recommend this spot for a vacation...just not when we want to be there!!

Owner response: Thanks, Gordon, for your kind words. And we wanted to clarify for future guests that Mako Hale has been renamed GINGER HOUSE.

We came to Oahu for our first Hawaiian visit with our 4 children last spring. I did alot of surfing the web as I wanted this experience to be the best vacation ever. We never thought we would get to Hawaii again so we wanted to do it right. I was very nervous as getting housing for 6 people gets expensive. Well when I came across this home I was sure I was reading something wrong. The beauty and price made me doubt. I booked it and hoped for the best. I was nervous when we arrived as I had 5 critics to tell me if I blew it. On the contrary all my teen kids loved it and hubby too! The beautiful private setting and the home decor was such fun to play and cook in. Having a private but convient setting was important to all and this place delivered. This place is beautiful to be in and feels luxurious and as though you are being pampered. Everything you need, the private beach access, bbq, washer and dryer, a store within walking distance, (Starbucks), beaches. If we make it back to Oahu this WILL be the place we come to, if we have to adjust our schedule to stay here we will. I cannot say enough about how comforting this place was to come back to at the end of an adventurous day and unwind.
