We invite you to come and visit any time of the year to enjoy a relaxing vacation close to the ocean in a quiet neighborhood. This nicely remodeled and furnished home is located on the Long Beach Peninsula on the SW Washington State coastline. It's a short walk to the ocean on a paved path in a pristine setting. Enjoy long walks, or drives, on the ocean beaches. There are two lighthouses close by to explore and an 8 mile paved path that parallels the ocean for biking, walking or jogging. We also have a second, two bedroom property. www.thehewitthouse.com
Recent testimonies from our guests:
We loved staying at your house. No one wanted to leave! There were so many things we liked about it! My family goes to the beach about 3 times a year and we always try new houses and motels but we definitely found one that beats everything else. We look forward to staying there every time it’s available. Looks like we will be returning in October sometime if it’s not booked! It’s really great to have such a nice comfy house for such a good price. Keep it up! Thank you. Maggie – Longview, WA
Charming furnishings with many pictures by our acquaintance Charles Mulvey, comfy beds, roomy and well equipped kitchen, quiet nights, close to beach and market all combined to make our Seaview stay most enjoyable. And thanks for ordering those sunny days! Gary – Seattle, WA
We’ve just returned and had a wonderful time. It was probably so good because of your quality assurance work via requests for feedback like this email. We had no trouble finding you (we’ve stayed on the peninsula many times over many decades and your directions were very clear) and the mechanics of reservations, policies, etc were all A-OK. It was very thoughtful to have the fire starter, tinder, birch and fir. The kitchen had everything we needed, beds and seating were very comfortable and we felt right at home. Many might not care, but having the enclosed yards and the areas across the road to play with our dog was FABULOUS!
Thanks for being such good hosts—you’ll be seeing us again. All the best, Bob and Valerie

My daughter and two cousins regularly use VRBO and we think the Hewitt House is possibly the best that we have rented! Delightful, clean, warm, and located within walking distance to many shops and activites AND just a short walk to the beach! We love to walk the streets in Seaview looking at the old houses and how wonderful to be staying in one! All the comforts of home. Thank you so much folks for making this home so inviting! We will return.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for taking such good care of our home and for your nice comments. We look forward to having you visit us again!

We have been renting the Hewitt House, Big House for many years. We have also rented Hewitt House's Last Resort a couple of times as well. Every year we meet up at Hewitt House in January with some friends who live in another state for a belated holiday gathering. There are 6 of us in our party, with a small dog or 2. Hewitt House has become a significant part of our holiday. It's just perfect with its cozy old "farmhouse" feel. The big kitchen where we gather for meals, the beautiful old fireplace where we gather for games and conversation, the clean bathrooms, fenced in yard, and walkable access to the beach and town all make this a wonderful stay. We have come to look forward to our time at Hewitt House. Always peaceful. Always comfortable.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Mr. Peabody's mom! The Hewitt House is a great place for a private get-away or for small group gatherings. It has been used for annual family retreats, sports retreats, girl's weekends, weddings, and more! It holds the charm of an older home that has been updated with modern conveniences. The quiet setting, proximity to the beach and paved walking paths along with the ample, lighted off-street parking make Hewitt House a great vacation destination. We invite you to come and enjoy a peace-filled, relaxing vacation and let the cares of this world slip away!

We had a wonderful week at the Hewitt House in January. The view of the meadow and pond from the living room and kitchen windows was relaxing and beautiful. The five minute walk to the ocean along the dunes was refreshing. The house was sparkling clean and everything ready for us. Clean sheets on the bed, warm blankets, comfy mattress and pillows. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. We just had to bring our food. Yes, the listing description was accurate. The house was easy to find. The pictures are accurate. The wood stove made everything warm and cozy. The previous renters left the wood stove emptyof ashes and dry wood by the stove - all ready for us. Thanks! The owner very patiently answered my questions. YES we would recommend this property to friends and relatives. The Long Beach Peninsula has many attractions and we didn't get to very many of them. We did visit a couple of museums and the two lighthouses in the area. We did try out a couple of local restaurants. Delicious. We appreciated the quietness of the area. We'd go back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks, Tom, for your reservation and wonderful recommendation. The Long Beach peninsula indeed has many fun attractions and interesting places to visit and it is only a 2.5 hour drive from Portland and 3.5 hour drive from Seattle! Many guests enjoy driving on the beach, taking walks or bike rides on the paved Discovery Trail and discovering new places to eat in Astoria, Ilwaco, Seaview, Long Beach, Ocean Park and Oysterville. We highly recommend Bailey's Bakery and Cafe in Oysterville at the northern end of the peninsula for homemade scones and other delicious bakery goods!

I grew up in Seaview and moved away as an adult.Taking the family to Hewitt House is like going home. The houses are so close to the beach approach, daily walks to the water are a must. The business district is a short drive away. The upgrades to these traditional beach properties eliminate any hint of the almost unavoidable mildew issues of beach living. The kitchen is fully equipped to serve up home-cooked meals. The Mulvey artwork throughout is authentic to the area. With fireplaces in both homes it's warm and cozy and conducive to family gatherings. And the price isn't exorbitant. I've stayed in motels at the beach that weren't nearly as comfortable as this property. We never miss Chico's Pizza when we stay. And the vistas from either of the lighthouses/headlands along the Columbia are breathtaking. Even if the weather is beach wet/gray it's a place to come home to.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you, Jo Ann, for your business and recommendation. We thoroughly enjoy creating a beach get-away environment that is warm, comfortable, affordable, peaceful and invites folks to come back year after year.
