My wife and I have stayed at several Blue Ridge area properties through the years, and we unequivocally found this to be the best experience that we have had. It is a wonderful layout, and the cabin was in pristine condition when we arrived. We absolutely enjoyed the experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Our family and two other families enjoyed a weekend together at this beautiful mountain retreat. We all had little children, and this was the perfect cabin for us. We had plenty of space to be together and plenty of space to spread out. Everything we needed for a relaxing, easy weekend was there. We enjoyed the incredible views from the various decks, and the children loved the freedom to play outside. Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful weekend. We look forward to coming back next year!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The Grey Heron House was a perfect fit for our family of 9 adults and 3 toddlers. The house is very spacious with sleeping for all including the bunk room where two toddlers slept in their own little space close to their parents' room. The house was very clean and well equipped. Great kitchen with all you need to prepare meals for lots of people. The screened porch across the entire back of the house was a favorite place for our grandchildren to play and we all enjoyed the porch swing. The porch was a perfect spot to have that morning cup of coffee. Our grown sons enjoyed fishing in the river and the grandsons had fun with the play set, the pool, and the cat that was usually on the front porch waiting for us. We also enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night and roasting marshmallows and making smores. The house is close enough to Blue Ridge and Ellijay that it's easy to go shopping and out to eat as well as run to the grocery store for supplies. We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation with our family and hope to visit again soon. Thanks, Dana and Greg, for sharing your home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house is very comfortable with a lot of personal touches and built in that make it even more comfortable. We enjoyed the pool greatly and the setting around the pool. We have toddlers and seniors so the walk was a little daunting for both. I had thought there would be a way to get onto the river from the glade by the river, so we did not go into the river from the property. I don't know if you are able to build a small boat dock but we would have enjoyed it. We enjoyed the screened in porch a great deal. I would love to come back in the fallRecommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I would recommend any of these properties to anyone staying in the area or to anyone just wanting to getaway. Excellent place for large or small groups.Cabins were clean and very well maintained. The photos were very accurate in reflecting the appearance of the properties but still not doing them complete justice. Everything about our stay from the pool to the riverfront firepit made the week a perfect place for our family reunion. The Taccoa River is a great place to raft, tube or standup paddleboard.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented the cabin for a family weekend away. The cabin was nice and we enjoyed it, but the abundance of signs indicating "you will be charge $xx for doing yy" was extremely off-putting. Everyone became increasingly annoyed every time they saw a new one, and it became a thorn in everyone's sides. There should be rules - but these rules need not be in your face at every turn. I can understand reinforcing some of the biggest offenses, but give me the rest in a document (or a list posted somewhere even), and have me sign it. Is moving furniture such a huge thing, especially if it's still in the same room? Otherwise we enjoyed it. It had all of the equipment we could need and was a good size. The kids loved the screened in porch.Owner response: This review is completely contrary to all other reviews on VRBO! We do post guest recommendations in our guest book and post a few signs intended to maximize the guest experience and minimize wear and tear. We'd love it if all guests knew not to drag sofas across our beautiful hardwood floors, but unfortunately some do not. As an another example of baffling guest behavior, we recently took down a sign near the firepit about not leaving cigarette butts in it, and astonishingly, we now find lots of butts in the firepit. There's a fine line for us regarding what information guests need and we are continuously trying to perfect that. All the Best, Dana and Greg Spencer

The home was absolutely beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house! The directions were perfect and we didn't have much trouble finding it. Once we got there, it was easy to get back and forth to the grocery store and other shopping locations. It was also fairly close to the rafting company we used. Overall, the home had everything that we needed to make our stay wonderful and memorable. Highly recommend staying here to anyone!Recommended for: Adventure seekers

WE ENJOYED OUR SPRING BREAK VACATION SO MUCH. THE CABIN WAS FANTASTIC. IT WAS JUST HOW THE PICTURES DEPICTED. IT WAS VERY LARGE AND COMFORTABLE AND DECORATED SO BEAUTIFULLY.. WE HAD A PARTY OF 9 AND EVERYBODY HAD THEIR OWN SPACE. WE ONLY SAW THE TEENAGE BOYS WHEN IT WAS TIME TO EAT, THE BASEMENT AREA WAS JUST RIGHT FOR THEM, THEY ENJOYED THE HOT TUB, POOL TABLE, AND GOING TO THE RIVER, IM A COOK SO THE GOURMET KITCHEN WAS TO DIE FOR. I COOKED EVERY MEAL AND WAS COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH THAT. GROCERY STORES WERE ONLY 5 MINUTES AWAY. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS CABIN TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND RELATIVES AND HOPE TO RETURN SOON.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Dana is awesome... We had a romantic couples trip and Dana was very helpful on planning.... Home was awesome and well equipped... One slight problem with the hot water. Being that there were 6 people the hot water did not last long at all... We did improvise by boiling hit water for the tub however the people wanting to take showers had a slight problem... I would definitely recommend this property and we will visit againRecommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Friends and daughters met at Toccoa House for our annual Girls' Weekend. The house is beautifully situated and furnished, spotless, and large enough to easily accommodate 9 adults comfortably. The kitchen is the best-equipped rental property kitchen we've ever seen. I highly recommend this house and would go back in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin was amazing. It had plenty of room for five couples. The kitchen was well equipped and everything is well taken care of. It's also great because it's fairly close to town, which has lots of fun shops. The boys went fishing while the girls stayed in and enjoyed the hot tub. We enjoyed watching the football game on the big TVs, but this cabin is perfect for any season. We are hoping to come back very soon. We also saw all the other cabins owned by this owner and they'd all be a great pick !!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a weekend at the Grey Heron house andhad a wonderful time!! You can tell that the owners take great pride in all of their properties at Toccoa House Properties and strive to make every guests stay memorable. We like to cook, so the kitchen was great with plenty of room for our group. The view was also amazing and had it been a few weeks later, we may have caught the leaves turning more and enjoyed it even more, if that's possible. We thank the owners for sharing this property with us and we look forward to calling Toccoa House Properties our vacation home again in the near future!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for one week at the Toccoa House. We were a family reunion that usually stays at Myrtle Beach for a week, but this year decided to try the Georgia Mountains. And we are so happy that we did. The Toccoa House was everything we hoped for!! The house, the pool the area was just fantastic. There we no negatives about the house at all, we all loved it!! The kids adopted a yellow cat that was apparently wild and named him Blue. Hope he is still around there. We white water rafted, did a lot of shopping in Blue Ridge, rode the Blue Ridge train and caught a lot of fish down from the house. We enjoyed the fire pit at the house and had one night with the fire and smores. Our overall experience with the Toccoa House and the area was excellent. Would we recommend this location? We already have shared this with many of our friends and we most likely will return in 2012 for our next reunion! Thanks for the memories and the great time!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family stayed in this cabin for a week. It is beautiful and roomy. We had three couples and I, and 3 children, everybody had privacy and room to play or not. It is bigger than the pictures show, short walk to the NICE pool area. Well equiped in the kitchen, we cooked most meals for the week stay. We walked and/or drove to the river and roasted marshmellows, though we could have done that at the cabin. There is lots to do in the area, we tubed and fun-yakked the Taccoa River using outfitters nearby. This cabin is a very short drive to town, grocery, river fun, not a steep drive, but some is gravel. The property is very well maintained, we have recommended this cabin AND any of their other cabins to friends and family. We hope to reurn in the future!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house is very nice and we had a good time. The screened in 2nd level porch was our favorite "room" However, cleanliness was an issue. As was trying to find the property. There are also no window coverings which is kind of weird for bedrooms-especially bedrooms with a public balcony where someone from the rest of your party could just look at you through the window. Or a problem when the sun rises in your window when you don't necessarily want to wake up with the sun. Also, FYI-the pool is a bit of a walk and then you have to walk down a slope. A person with issues with walking who really wants to use the pool will be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: We appreciate the 4 out of 5 stars but since we strive for perfection we want to correct some inaccuracies: the guest is not specific about cleanliness and all other guests comment on how impeccable the housekeeping is (see other reviews). We are also unsure how the guest missed the fact that there are blinds and curtains in each bedroom. The last point about the pool access for persons with walking issues is noted, but the person would have to be severely handicapped not be able to negotiate the gentle slope from the driveway down to the pool (see photos at http://www.toccoahouse.com/panoramas/). Happy travels!

This cabin was a perfect fit for our vacation this year. It's much bigger than it appears and is stocked well to handle large groups. Despite the size, the cabin feels very cozy. The back porch is huge and seemed to be the place where guests felt most comfortable hanging out. For the folks more at home inside, the two LARGE TVs and Satellite reception were a great diversion. The views are great but that comes with a price that the hills in the back and front yards are very steep so we had to keep an eye on the kids (and the frisbees). We also really liked the common areas that included a playground, a pool and a horse shoe court by the river. There was something for everyone. We'll be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A group of my closest friends and I stayed at the Blue Heron House for a weekend reunion, of sorts, and we were all very happy with our choice! It was so nice to have a house like this for a fairly large group of people; we never felt as if we were on top of each other. The bedrooms are spread out enough throughout the house that there was always a "quiet place" for anyone who needed it, the kitchen was perfect and stocked with all the necessities we needed for cooking our own meals, and the amenities provided only served to keep us all entertained non-stop! We put everything to use: the pool table, hot tub, fire pit, screened porch--everything lent itself to making our little reunion an absolute blast. The views were beautiful from the porches, and the short hike to the river was well worth it when we arrived and found the nice little clearing complete with benches and a game of horseshoes. The best part was that there were no surprises--we had everything the pictures and write-up described. I was worried that with our party we would feel crammed into the house, but it actually proved to be more spacious than you can tell from the pictures and very comfortable. The convenience of having a large grocery store so close by was wonderful, as we could re-stock anything that ran out. Check-in was a cinch, and finding the house was easier than I thought it would have been. I would recommend that if you stay here, you locate the binder with all the check-out information at the beginning of your stay and read through it--we did not even notice it there in the kitchen until we were about ready to check out, and it contained some information that probably would have been good to know from the start. Overall, we were very happy with the stay at Blue Heron and would absolutely come back! The gorgeous weather we had was just icing on the cake. Thank you Toccoa House Properties!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The house on this property is not only impeccably clean and well-kept but very warm and homey. The view from each window and porch is breathtaking, the kitchen is a joy to cook in and the hot tub treatment can't be beat. Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: When we began building on this amazing site we wanted to maximize the view from as many windows as possible. We also wanted a large screened porch overlooking the river where 20 or more folks could congregate and relax, and flow in and out from the gourmet kitchen, dining and living rooms. Impeccable cleanliness is our passion now that we are up and running. Thanks for noticing!

The Grey Heron house exceeded my expectations. The property is deceptively large (pictures did not do the space justice) and is surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape. Could not recommend more enthusiastically - everything was clean, the owner was very responsive and accommodating. It felt like a home away from home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just booked our third trip to this wonderful cabin. We have stayed at other river cabins and enjoyed several of them but our experience at the Grey Heron cannot be matched. Multiple beautiful overlooking views were enjoyed by all. Every single TV screen was thoroughly utilized while following the U.S. Open Tennis Championship. Billiards got a workout from the resident pool shark and the jacuzzi was inhabited well into the wee hours. Internet access was appreciated for those of us who could not fully disengage from work. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked; this is much needed as I am the cook and waitress for my family. We caught and released a baby alligator turtle at the river that was promptly named "Snappy." Finding a vacation rental in this area that is pet friendly is also very important to us since we always take our best canine friend. We have always had positive interactions with the owners and caretakers. The grounds are lovely and the house is spotless. We have recommended this location to all our friends in the past and we continue to do so. As you can see, I have a lively crew and the Grey Heron has the right recipe to keep us coming back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
