  We had a girls weekend over Mothers Day weekend. This house was great. Every once in a while, I come across a vrbo listing that I'd love to return to - this one gets added to that list! We didn't utilize much of the kitchen because we ate out for every meal. But we did notice that there was everything (and more!) needed to create any meal. The house lay-out is great! It is very nicely decorated. Awesome upkeep inside & out. (didn't use the pool or pool area) We would come back for another girls weekend, a romantic get-away, or a weekend with the family! Would work for any situation. Super happy with the professional and friendly service from the owner. Thanks, Jan!!

  The cottage is perfect: clean/decorated nicely/ has everything you need. Be aware the dry sauna is in another house ( also on the property). The day we chose to use it someone was smoking in the house so we didn't use the sauna. Also, the pool was green and cloudy for almost half of our stay/ we weren't able to use it. We were there for the pool. We would come back and stay again. Just don't rely on pool or sauna

  Owner response: Unfortunately during this owner's stay we had a terrific storm that blew algae in from the atmosphere, coupled with the heavy use (the renter had a child that was in the pool for most of the day), pool toys, a full day of sunlight breaking down the chlorine and the chlorine not being replaced caused the pool to experience a very rare algae bloom. I had my pool guy out immediately to correct the problem. The pool is currently crystal clear and I have made changes in how I manage the pool needs. As for the sauna it is usually a winter request and I will change my listing to inform folks that the sauna is in the small guest house located on the property. I am sincerely sorry that someone was smoking in the sauna area. I have addressed this as well. I hope that this renter is able to remember the fun that they had in the pool before the algae problem and focus on the positive memories of their stay. My place is clean, well maintained, with nice amenities and the price is very reasonable for what I offer. This renter was a sweetheart and I do hope she returns and gives me a chance to offer her a different experience.

  My family and I had a wedding to attend at Samson"s Winery which was only 5 minutes away. The house was more than we had anticipated the pictures on the web site do not do it justice. The owner was so helpful and very sweet. We would certainly rent from her again.

  The good: Owner was excellent at response time from the start. Emailed me back from my inquiry within 24 hours, and remained available via phone during our stay. It's more of a small house than a stereotypical 'cabin' - in the sense that on couches/beds it sleeps 6ish, but if you don't mind bringing a sleeping bag and crashing on the carpeted floors, you can fit 10+ comfortably. Owner allowed a night stay for a bachelor party (nothing crazy, but plenty of beer/burgers/pool time). We loved going from the pool to the sauna and back. Some guys hung inside watching ESPN and playing video games (also convenient). Barbecue is under a covered area. We also brought a portable fire-pit and set it up in the back near the pool (which I would highly suggest if you have the means!). 'Cleaning instructions' are not complicated - basically just pick up after yourselves and there is no extra cleaning fee. Score! The bad: Communication, while prompt, was rather short. Responds to 'problems' a little feisty. For instance, she thought we lost a piece of a custom made checkerboard set and left a polite but accusatory voicemail. After letting her know the piece was already missing when we arrived, however, she believed (due to very bad previous renters) and I was not charged extra. Other negative was we were promised a heated pool (the weather was gross the weekend of our stay), and learned the day of our stay that it had not been heated. Owner said she didn't want to spend hundreds to heat it for the weekend. Monetarily, I completely understand and agree, but don't give someone your word then back out (especially without letting them know before the day of). Luckily the dry-sauna (mostly) saved the day: we just alternated between cold pool-time and warm sauna-time. Overall, I'd give the place a solid A, and the owner a solid B. Definitely worth a stay (especially for the price!). And it is very conveniently close to Bellingham, but far enough away in the 'country' to feel like you're removed from the chaos. I'd be happy to return someday.

  Owner response: Hello David, Please accept my sincere apology for the pool not being heated. Normally at this time of year it is heated, but our unseasonably cold weather has delayed the start of the pool season. If you had been renting for more than one night (or if another renter was coming in behind you) I would have bit the bullet and turned it on. I don't recall making any promises to you and my policy is "weather permitted" the pool will be heated. I'm so sorry if I disappointed you or if I wasn't clear. I am busy nurse and so if I seemed short with you it was probably because someone else was pulling on my ear. I will try to be more aware of this and thank you for the lesson. My friends will get a kick out of you thinking I am feisty since they accuse me of being too nice. I have never referred to any of my renters as "very bad". I believe I stated that the place was left bad (as in a mess) which I stated was the first time I had people leave the place "bad". Again not the best choice of words on my part and I will try to be more aware of how I am coming off. I have also never charged anyone for extra cleaning or breakage etc. and I didn't charge those last renters for washing my white towels with something red which turned them pink. It never even crossed my mind to charge you for a missing game piece I just really wanted it back because It will be hard to replace. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you gave my place a solid A. I am embarrassed that you only gave me a solid B and I will work hard to try and earn a solid A with my future vacationers. Your feedback has been duly noted. I hope that you will return and enjoy the "heated" pool. Namaste......

  This house was just perfect. It is a charming house with everything you could need. The owner is very nice and was very accomadating to our special needs. I would recommend this house to anyone who is coming to the Bellingham area. It is close to town (10 min) but yet in a rural area. Thank you for making our Christmas stay perfect.

  As soon as we arrived, we were in love! The pictures definitely do not do this place justice. The cabin was so homey, clean, spacious and we had everything we needed. The bed was so comfy and I loved how we had our own washroom and we didn't even need to leave the bedroom! We even entertained on one day and our guests were so impressed by the place. The pool was so much fun and we highly suggest this rental to anyone and everyone! We will definitely be back!!

  The photos of this rental are great, but they don't do it justice. Every room is beautifully decorated. Both bathrooms are lovely. Beds are comfortable with beautiful bedding. My son and I had a lovely time watching movies, playing cards, going for a walk and watching the horses nearby. I can't wait to visit again, the owner thought of everything you could possibly need.

  Janiece was exceptionally helpful throughout the booking procedure and we even got to meet her the day we checked in. The cottage is comfortable, cute and above all clean! It's a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside. The kitchen had all the items we needed to get by and we even entertained one night. Julie was a delight and so friendly and Janiece is lucky to have a friend so close by to help her guests. Having said that Julie will only appear if you knock on her door. We used the pool which took a little tweaking to get the right temperature, however the children thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is on the outskirts of Bellingham but close enough for trips to the store and so on. There is a horse farm across the street and we enjoyed watching mother and baby frolick in the paddock. Overall a great place to call home on vacation. We felt very comfortable and relaxed. I would not hesitate recommending the cottage to other visitors. There is a pretty good fish market close by and Fairhaven is a great place to browse through the shops, eat at a cafe or have a massage. Thank you to Janiece for making my first visit to Bellingham a welcoming visit.

  Easy to find, quiet and nicely set-up. My girlfriend and I had a relaxing stay. The dry sauna was a real treat. We look forward to our next get away. Thanks
