This location cannot be beaten. The private beach is spectacular. We were fortunate enough to be able to walk along the beach a watch dolphins swimming just off of the shore. If you get the kind of weather that we had you cannot help but love this place! We were four adults, but this place could easily accommodate 8. We stayed 2 nights. No disappointment at all. Looking forward to coming back next year!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We spent a weekend in October 2012 at this magical location. Although I went to nearby UCSB, I had no idea that such a pristine stretch of sand existed where you and your dogs can and enjoy the serentity and beauty. As you arrive in the driveway of this home, you are greeted by lush tropical landscaping and a beautiful Koi pond. Then it gets even better as you walk into the house and are met by fantastic ocean views (so close you feel like you could reach out and touch the water). It is amazing how the stress just evaporates after you spend a little time at this house. So much so that my wife asked why can't we just live here? The owners were wonderful and very responsive in getting the booking done and answering all of our questions. Plus, after hearing that we were spending the weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday, they left us a nice bottle of wine and a welcoming note. Who does that anymore?Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Stayed at this lovely home from July 7-July 31 this year: my wife and me, our son, daughter-in-law and 16-month old granddaughter. This is a perfect home for a family, with upstairs (two bebrooms, two baths) and separate downstairs (two more bedrooms, two baths), and two kitchens. It's on the beach, in a private enclave (next door to a major film star), with BBQ, its own separate sandy area overlooking the beach, five steps to the beautiful, walking beach, magnificent views. The home has all the amenities: big screen TVs, wi-fi, privacy and comfort. Montecito is 5 minutes away and Santa Barbara is only 10 minutes up the road--excellent restaurants and shopping. The views from the hills above Montecito are magnificent. The owners are friendly, cooperative people who will take care of any problems (there was only one small one, and it was resolved immediately). We loved our stay in this home, and we recommend it 100%.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Beautiful location, but what a shame! I have rented many VRBOs and never been disappointed. We make sure we rent in nice neighborhoods as they tend to have greater pride of ownership - that was not the case here! Every VRBO I've been to has new white linen and towels - they had old linen and towels appeared old and who would use flannel at the beach in the summer? Our duvet had many stains on it and no cover. Some of the drawers contained personal belongings, old magazines, a briefcase full of paper which I'm sure had not been touched for years as even inside a drawer had collected a lot of dust! The small balcony on 2nd floor had an old, ugly, filthy that just ruins the whole thing. The rest of the furniture was rusty and cushions were so filthy we had to use extra pillow cases to cover them. It flet like the owner had lived there for years, moved out with the good furniture and left everything he didn't want behind and said "lets rent the place"! In places, it looked like Sanford's garage!Owner response: First and foremost, thank you for your comments about your stay in our beach house. I am sorry to learn that your stay and experience was a disappointing one. About the particular issues referenced in your comments, it is important for us to know how and where you think we fell short and what we need to do to better to meet the needs of our guest's expectations. Respnding to your particular criticisms, all of the linens are new as of June 2012 and they are several colors, not just white. The stains on the duvet cover were discovered by our cleaning crew after you vacated the home and are believed to have originated from the dog we allowed you to bring to the home. We have taken your review seriously and have since bought all new white linens and towels. The vast majority of the outdoor furniture is aluminum and does not rust. There are two very small deck chairs with a small amount of rust on them, which have since been cleaned and sanded free of any rust. Beach sand was deposited in our Spa despite signs warning against this action. We have taken careful note of your observations in order to improve the condition of our beach home.

After a very long and very stressful week in LA, this cottage was just what the doctor ordered. The place itself has some 50's-60's charm to it, but has boatloads of room, lots of places to sleep a larger group/family, and probably has one of the best locations in the entire area. The best surfing waves break 200 yards out in front of the amazing large porch, the dolphins pass by daily, seals play in the waves, and you've got a view on a long, walkeable stretch of the shore. Absolutely amazing spot to kick back for a week or weekend with a larger gang. Krista and Bill were great with the logistics. Thanks!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The location of this house is fantastic, and it is a terrible shame it is kept so badly -- far too badly for the nearly $900 per day that we paid to stay there. The furniture is shabby; fixtures are cheap (a tap handle in the shower came off the first time I touched it), the paint is old, the kitchen is older and very poorly equipped. Emblematic of the whole situation is a cheap barbecue with a grill that was so filthy we couldn't use it -- at a place where you would expect to barbecue every day. When I phoned to ask the owner about this, he essentially told me it wasn't his problem. Finally, the owner took a full three weeks to get our deposit back to us. I have never had a VRBO owner wait until the last minute like that, though I have used the VRBO facility many times. The setting is magnificent. The walks on the beach are beautiful. If only the owners took the pride in the house that the house deserves, it would be a wonderful place to stay. As it is, we won't go back.Owner response: Thank you for your review! My wife and I are professional Real Estate appraisers for the past 35 years and we always welcome the critiques of our past tenenants on how we can make our place more enjoyable for themselves as well as future tenants. However, this review is based more on emotion than on fact. This renter threatned to write a bad review if we did not return his deposit before he checked out for reasons unknown. A deposit is never returned to a client before they check out so, he kept his promise and wrote a bad review! So, let's examine his statments one at a time. First, we lowered his price to $700/night, he did not pay $900/night. Second, all the furniture, except for all the beds which are BRAND NEW, was purchased within the past 4 years. Third, all the interior fixture are good quality. The two tubs handles lack the stainless steel screws. We had to remove them for the safety of our younger grandchildren and purposely kept them that way for tenants with children. Without this precaution in place, the levers can be easily turned to very hot water and to prevent children from accidental burns, we made them removable. The handles still function with ease. Fourth, the interior of the home has been completely painted within the past 2 years. the master kitchen upstairs as well as the smaller galley style kitchen downstairs have the following: 1. New refrigerators 2. Newer range and ovens 3. New dishwashers 4.newer large cabinets 5. all new microwave and coffee makers etc. All the four bathrooms have been completely upgraded and or remodeled within the past 4 years. Fifth, the BBQ is A Weber kettle type and is about 1 year old. Each user cleans the grill top after the coals are hot from the previous user. The tenant did not want to do this standard procedure. Last and foremost, the tenant has made false and misleading statements about our rental property. We are paid professionals as to the quality and condition of real property. Please refer to photos to judge for yourself.

We spent a wonderful time. The house is just on the beach and you couldn't find a more quiet place. Children can spend the whole time on the beach. We strongly recommend it if you need some quiet time...Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.
