The Mainstay rental is a charming Hampton's shingled home. Pre 1850 and filled with old world charm and character, the Mainstay is perched on an acre of room like perennial gardens with an arbor entrance to the pool and two private dining areas and a Barbeque/Cooking area. A charming Pergola graced with luscious wisteria is perfect for al fresco makes dining poolside the perfect way to spend an evening in the Hamptons.
Located just one mile to the heart of the village of Southampton and 1 and 1/2 miles to world renown ocean beaches the Mainstay is perfectly positioned for easy access to famous Southampton Village shopping and dining. For the last 19 years the Mainstay has been a warm and welcoming bed and breakfast enjoyed by guests from all of the world. It has been a perfect setting for photo shoots, fashion shows, select special events and weddings. The heart of the Mainstay is it's' large country eat in kitchen with a wood stove and comfortable sitting areas perfect for large group cooking and dining. Flanked by a formal dining dining room, a typical white washed living room and a parlor the Mainstay is a perfect destination for a family vacation accommodating adults and children. There are 8 bedrooms. A large king master suite which has adjoining sitting room and extra space for relaxing also has fireplace and over looks garden and pool from the second floor, another large king room with 46' tv is also one of the many comfortable bedrooms which are very suitable for families. All bedrooms have tv .
While natural breezes and wonderful cross ventilation fill the Mainstay, in bedroom air conditioning units make for restful nights; due to her age we do not have central air conditioning.
Southampton Village is about the beaches, local history, local events, art, celebrities, dining, wineries and antiquing. Coopers Beach, recently rated #1 in the country offers chair and umbrella rentals, food, lifeguards, bathrooms and picnic tables.
Southampton is a place to get away for hustle and bustle and still be close to NYC .
The Mainstay house offers country kitchen for cooking at home with large eat in kitchen and more formal dining room along with patio dining under pergola, in garden or on slate patio outside of kitchen with grill

I have been vacationing at Mainstay a few times a year for the past 15 years. It's like a home away from home in a beautiful setting with great restaurants and a lot of culture . You can chill out if you like around the house by the pool or take a 2 minute car ride to one of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast. If quiet time is not for you , there's activities of all kinds. You can visit many wineries, art galleries, shop till you drop in town or cruise around the neighborhood taking in the spectacular homes and lanscaping. Elizabeth , the owner, makes you feel so comfortable that it seems like you've know her forever. The house is an art gallery in it's own right. It's decorated with her original paintings and ceramics.Elizabeth is kind and generous with her time ,she's a walking encyclopedia when it comes to Long Island. You wont' be disappointed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
