Sebastopol estate description

PLEASE NOTE: The $995/per night rate posted is the nightly MINIMUM for up to 8 guests using 3+ bedrooms of the main estate home and does not include farmhouse or all 9 bedrooms.Additional guests including children are $95/night ea. The rate for both houses and 8-9 bedrooms for up to 18 adult guests is $1995/night. The VRBO rate calculator can be confusing and hopefully is being updated. When using the rate calculator please be as specific as possible as to number of guests and private bedrooms required so we can provide an accurate budget for your stay. Because there are two separate houses available for our farm stay guests we can also accommodate smaller groups and couples. It is always best to call or send a VRBO email request so we can work out a budget accruing to your needs.

The B Vineyards & Habitat main Estate house is a large, well loved modern Mediterranean style family home with high ceilings, open floorplan, galleries, courtyards, and outdoor living space. It is situated on a knoll overlooking vineyards, a large trellised pool, private recreational lake, Atascadero creek, and rich wildlife and riparian habitat. The original mid-century retro-style ranch farmhouse is also available for hosting additional farmstay retreat guests. It is very close to the main house, just down the driveway, and has modest bedrooms and an ample kitchen. It shares use of the main estate pool and spa as well as the lake and habitat.

Please be sure to visit the linked sites below for additional photos and information. The farmhouse is being updated and additional photos will be added shortly.

The family estate home is perfect for hosting reunions, business, healing, educational, and fine art retreats all within our farm stay program. The main wing of the estate home features multiple large bedrooms with multiple beds private baths and a large dining gallery and family style gourmet kitchen. Art and photo studios are also available to be scheduled for use by guests and there are open areas indoors and out suitable for yoga and dance. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate amplified music for outside parties.

A separate retro style farmhouse on the property provides additional sleeping rooms for larger groups. On-site host, meals, catering and logistical help is available as needed by your itinerary and schedule. Your retreat and visit to the vineyard/farm are organized according to your needs and interests. Please contact us for further detail.

The home, bucolic views, riparian habitat and property are the perfect backdrop for film production, wildlife photography, art, writing, teaching, education, healing and retreats. The main estate home is a large with gallery style open interior in the main wing with 3 private bedroom/s with baths available, and plus 2 sleeping alcoves with European style convertible sofa beds.

The farmhouse close to the main house has up to 5 modest guest bedrooms, 3 and a half baths, and kitchen available. The Estate's expansive trellised patios, lawns, trails, pool and open space habitat are all shared by the farm stay guests.

The estate is situated just northwest of Sebastopol, minutes away from the town of Graton, Santa Rosa, Occidental, North of Petaluma in the heart of world class organic cuisine, restaurants, wineries, farms and spas. Access to the Sonoma coast beaches, Russian River, Sonoma wine Appellations, is minutes away and the estate is just 60 miles from SFO. Walking and cycling opportunities abound with many cycling events and tours passing the property directly. The estate feels secluded and private for relaxation but is only minutes away from world class wine tasting, cuisine, recreation, golf, cycling, spas, sightseeing, surfing and whale watching along the rugged picturesque Sonoma coast.

Resident owners on the property are on hand to host families and groups and assist with logistics, tours, meals, catering, shopping and stocking the pantry with fresh local produce, meats, cheeses and wines. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly to discuss the specific needs of your group.

Had an annual college guys reunion trip here, attended by approximately 20 people. Everyone had a great time. The grounds and location are terrific. The house is well-maintained and stocked with great cooking (and drinking) equipment. Plenty of room for 20 guys to sleep comfortably without people on the floor/couches. Even with a group of 20 guys, it did not feel like we were on top of each other. The house is very nice but not so nice that everyone feels like they are walking on eggshells all weekend. Gerald (the owner) was easy to deal with throughout. One thing to be aware of is that he is onsite in a unit very near the main house (or at least was throughout our weekend). That said, he was not there to oversee or police what people were doing. In fact, we got home late (and intoxicated) one of the nights and people were very loud. Gerald didn't come out to say anything but only sent a text asking that we keep it down a bit which, given the time of night (it was late), was totally appropriate. In many respects, it was nice to have Gerald there. He was happy to come take a picture of the group and even printed it out for us on some large photo paper and then sent the file to distribute to the group. He was also very fair in dealing with the security deposit. One piece of equipment broke during the weekend. It was old and worn and the damage was not the result of misusing it. Gerald acknowledged that it was old and on its last legs and didn't deduct from the deposit, where other people might have. All in all, a great house to hang out in (and around) and enjoy the company of family and friends. Thanks again for a great weekend, Gerald!

Owner response: Yep, a 200lb.+ guy and a 10+year-old trampoline mat don't mix well. Especially when said guy is going for an altitude record! But the tramp had been outside for many years and served my daughter and grandkids and many guests very well. The gardeners had been tossing lawn clippings under the trampoline for just such an occasion! the landing was soft. Compost has many uses it seems. The tramp has been replaced and bouncing over the orchard and lake is back in service. These guys had bunches of fun, put the African drums to good use as well as the pool and hot tub. Okay, they got a little noisy late one night but quickly moved it inside so the neighbors and habitat critters weren't disturbed. The group portrait was college alumni brothers gone wild so I couldn't resist printing it large in the art studio for them and tacking up in the gallery before they left. Anyway, it is always a pleasure when the estate is enjoyed to the max and still left in good order. Turns out the trash compactor works great for crushing all those beer cans for recycling too! Who knew one of the guys was a recycling pro? Nice work gentlemen!

I brought 19 people from around the world to this property and everyone loved it. Great kitchen for people to cook together and good space to meet as a large group in a more informal setting. Beds were clean and there were plenty of linens to use. Gorgeous backyard that I wish I had more time to explore!

Owner response: This group of engineer sorts from Google and all over the globe was a joy to host for their offsite multi-day meeting. They certainly worked hard while here living up to the Google work ethic, used the media room for meetings and the pool steps and patio as a mini amphitheater. The wifi has humming around the clock. They engineered some very fine international cuisine in the kitchen and the ping pong table was put to use. I guess the only thing missing for them was a large rice cooker and they settled for the pressure cooker. Rice cooker, size large, is now on the list for the pantry. Thanks for the positive review.

We rented this estate for the weekend of my husband's 41st birthday. It was a lovely and relaxing place with a lot of space for all ten or so of us. The dining room table is fit for a feast, so we had one :) The pool and lake were lots of fun for us, our guests and our dog. The house is updated and fully equipped with everything you might need. Gerald & Staff were available to help if/when we were confused about how to turn on the hot tub, etc. We all loved the home, grounds, pool & trampoline and we would be excited to return at any time! We all wish we lived there. In fact, two of my friends who were on the trip have recently gotten engaged and may even get married at the estate. That is how beautiful it is! Note: If you rent less than the whole estate, the owner may be in the remainder of the house (in another wing). It was fine for us but if you want complete privacy, you may want to inquire about this.

This was one of our best vacations ever. The house was amazing. Kids, wives, husbands, singles, everyone had a great time. The owner hosted us to ski on the lake and our avid slalom ski group collectively voted that this was the best ski lake we have ever used! We had a chef prepare dinner for us at the house for 27 people (amazing, the food and venue blew everyone away)... We mountain bike rode in Anadale Park in Santa Rosa, some of the best trails we have ever ridden. (take the Lynwood exit off the 12) to get to the best stuff. We took all the kids to Armstrong Redwood Forest (again, 15 minutes away). Beautiful... Road biking would be amazing up here as well. We went wine tasting and had lunch in the gardens of some great Pinot wineries. The kids were entertained all day with the pool, jacuzzi, trampoline, fire pit at night, exploring the grape vines, berry picking, lake use, (canoe, paddle board) everything. The town of Sebastopol is under 5 minutes away, allowing anyone to easily go the store, coffee, or one of the great restaurants.. We are headed back next summer! Guests can fly right into Santa Rosa Airport also...

Owner response: I don't think this group ever slowed down. The kids were active, the women were actively relaxed mostly by the pool, there were some amazing water skiers and I guess the guys made themselves known at Annadel on the mtn. bike trails and hiking at Armstrong woods that are both just a few miles from the estate. They enjoyed a catered dinner in and sushi out and there were a lot of wine bottles and beer cans to recycle when they left. Who said San Diego families don't know how to have a good time? I'm going to have to visit them at their Imperial desert vacation homes and lake !!!! Thanks!

We were in search of large home in the Sonoma area to entertain our customers – The “estate” was large enough. The grounds were good for entertaining and the view was great. The home itself was outdated and not particularly clean or ready upon arrival. We arrived and paid for a day early for set-up of the home as well as getting the rooms ready for each guest. Upon arrival we found the owner and staff scrabbling to get everything ready throughout this day. We did expect this would be done prior to our arrival. While inspecting all the bathrooms we found used bar soaps and used toiletries in each. We replaced all the used soaps with new liquid soap as it was a bit off putting with hair and all. It is a “working” farm so there are people present. It was a bit odd that the owner and partner were staying in a trailer right next to the pool where we were entertaining our guests. After our stay we had to ask the owner on more than one occasion for our deposit return and/or summary of additional charges incurred. In the end we did not receive this until nearly 90 days after our stay. I reluctantly give this home a "fair' rating

Owner response: We’ve had great experiences hosting cycling groups. This all-male team from Capo Apparel reserved the estate for overnight accommodations while riding routes of the Tour de California that directly passes our Organic Sonoma Vineyards. At the last minute Capo added two 30+person catered dinners and requested early checkin for set up and use of our gallery space and entry for trade show displays. When this reviewer arrived 5 hours early indeed I and my crew were “scrambling” busy taking down the fine art photo exhibit and prepping the grounds for their 3 large trade show tents and displays. We delivered wine barrels for decor and logistics for all the bikes, SUVs, cycling apparel and gear. All was in order when guests arrived. A large video crew filmed promos for Capo and the event was huge success. The president of the company thanked me, they asked about returning for Levi’s Gran Fondo and referred us to Cliff Bar. The house is a 1990s’ Mediterranean family-friendly home and was our former personal residence until my daughter left for college. It is not the Las Vegas Bellagio or a designer trophy home. We don’t use synthetic fertilizers or herbicides and the lawns are not like a country club golf course. Our cleaning crew conscientiously sanitizes baths between each stay and there are fresh, extra supplies in each medicine cabinet, the well-stocked laundry and kitchen pantry. We don’t use antibacterial soaps or harsh detergents as they are not compatible with our green sceptic systems or certified organic habitat. I reside on the property and often stay in the art studio or 1956 classic Spartan aluminum motor home/pool house so I can be available to large groups 24/7 and tend the pool and spa equipment, boating and recreational facilities. We are usually timely with deposit refunds and bookkeeping but this group was difficult from the get go. The owner’s credit cards were declined multiple times and reservation payments and deposits were weeks late. This employee from Capo failed to provide the final information needed for our bookkeeping. We discounted and provided extras for free to stay within the budget and there was no refund due. We worked hard to accommodate the Capo team and all of the guests I spoke with totally enjoyed the serenity and unpretentious natural atmosphere of the estate and habitat. We shared several bottles of our organic Pinot Noir for their dinners and from our perspective went the extra mile for the team!

I've rented this house twice with a large group of couples and we had a blast both times. The house is comfortable, sleeps a lot of people and is great for large group meals. My favorite part of Gerald's property and of our weekends here is definitely the outdoor space. The backyard is beautiful and looks out over a vineyard and Gerald's private lake. The pool area is also amazing and includes a really nice in-ground hot tub. The weather was perfect and warm for both of our stays. This is an awesome house for a weekend getaway when looking to find some sunshine outside of San Francisco and would also be great for longer stays as well. We'll definitely be back.

Owner response: We really enjoy hosting groups who appreciate the natural environment, habitat, vineyards and recreation. The house is not perfect but is large and open and accommodates multiple couples and family groups without pretension. It was our family home for many years and I hope it still has that feel. We've hosted business retreats, reunions and birthday parties all with great success. We enjoyed this group of young couples and the energy they brought to the property and hope to see them again.

What a wonderful place to host my sister's bachelorette weekend. The Estate is truly lovely with plenty of room to accommodate all 12 of us. I only wish that we had more time to spend some time on the lake, grill, sit around the fire pit, and lounge in the hot tub. Let’s just say that we left a lot undone, but are hoping to get back sometime. Gerald is also very easy to reach, reasonable and a helpful. I great experience all around, I highly recommend this rental.

Owner response: This group of ladies wins the award for the quickest to mix margaritas upon arrival. The patio had pitchers and nachos set up within minutes of arrival. And though I didn't get a chance to sample I bet they were among the best to be served here as well. The Bachelorettes beat out the bachelors this time around. There were great smells coming from the kitchen all afternoon and evening and a couple of flan parfaits left in the refrigerator for tasting upon departure. The weather was great for their stay and we certainly would welcome Jessica and her family again for a longer stay.

We brought a large group (20+) to this villa and we were very satisfied. the grounds are beautiful and the home itself is spacious and well appointed. The location is perfectly located between Sebastopol and Graton, but we found that we were reluctant to leave because we had everything we needed right there on site. Gerald is a great host. He was warm, accommodating, and accessible.

Owner response: It was great hosting this guy's getaway. They brought a lot of male energy to the property and really seemed to enjoy it. Golf, wine tasting, BBQ, afternoon competitions on the lawn, evening fire on the patio. There was a birder in the group and they walked the trails around the lake and habitat and used the canoe and Kayaks. They even picked the last of the organic apples from the orchard. The guys spread out through both wings of the house with laptops, iPads etc. and put the entertainment system to good use attaching their own game console to the 60" TV. Though they didn't seem to cook too much here there were poker sets on the long dining tables. I invited them all to return with their wives and partners who should be jealous that guys should have such a good time without ladies to take care of them.....Gerald

It was an amazing experience to stay at this villa. We stayed there for the long weekend and felt like the 3 day stay was not enough to enjoy the beautiful surrondings and the amazing home. Owner was very friendly and easily accessible. Would love to go back again.

                  Why the Owner Chose Sebastopol:
This site, formerly the last certified Raw Milk Dairy in Sonoma County, is a unique mix of agriculture, open space, residential and recreational assets. The riparian habitat, dense bird life, and opportunity to create a sustainable agricultural enterprise brought us from SF to West Sonoma County.

The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
This property provides a secluded retreat for larger families and groups with a wide variety of recreational opportunities on site as well as access to the coast, Russian River, wineries, fine restaurants and bucolic rural landscape. It also offers seclusion and privacy. The farm stay program can provide all you need for a relaxing or active getaway. We are well located with a large nature landscape, yet mere minutes to downtown Sebastopol. The brand new Barlow center has just opened in our downtown area: http://thebarlow.net/tenants/, and offers a plethora of local food, artisans and wine.
