Vermont Condo Perfect for Summer Mountain Getaway
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This well maintained and family friendly two bedroom condo located in the Mad River Valley is the perfect place for a summer escape into the Green Mountains of Vermont. Enjoy the best that Vermont has to offer: easy access to numerous hiking trails including several access points to the Long Trail and a short drive to Camel’s Hump, mountain biking on the lift accessed trails at Sugarbush, canoeing or kayaking on the Mad River, fishing, horseback riding, golf, tennis and more!
There is a seasonal pool on the grounds with a breathtaking view of the mountains and a playground for the children. Or enjoy a refreshing dip in one of the swimming holes along the banks of the Mad River. Tennis courts are on the premises and beautifully maintained golf course within fifteen minutes at Sugarbush resort. Sugarbush also has two disc golf courses with for all levels and zip-line for the adventurous.
Centrally located makes for easy day trips to Burlington, Stowe, Waterbury, and other Vermont attractions. Drive into Burlington for a day trip to visit the aquarium, the Teddy Bear Factory or the Shelburne Museum. Don't forget the Magic Hat Brewery. For something a little different, take a cruise on Lake Champlain and look for 'Champ', the monster of the lake. Then go for lunch or dinner at the many restaurants in town. On the way home, take time to tour the Ben & Jerry factory in Waterbury and sample the up and coming new flavor.
There is always something available to do, but if you just want to put your feet up and relax, there is no better place than being in the heart of the Green Mountain State Forest.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

We headed up to VT for some Sugarbush skiing right after the February Blizzard came through the east coast. We were a day delayed, but when we finally did arrive we found a condo that was spacious enough for just the two of us with everything we needed. We used the Wood Stove every night we were there which added to the relaxation. The open loft structure of the upstairs (where the two bedrooms and full bath are) is a nice setup. There was plenty of firewood to be found on the back porch. We are familiar with the area, so we had no problem getting over to Sugarbush to ski or finding any place to eat. (Tip- most places are closed for dinner on Monday nights, but the Hyde Away right down the road is open 7 nights a week). Mad River Glen is also just a bit further up the road (about a mile). The only hiccup we ran into was that when we got up the first morning to take showers, there was no hot water. We could hear the water heater running, so we just skipped the showers and headed out to the mountain. When we returned later that afternoon, there was plenty of hot water, so it must have just needed time to warm up. We didn't run into an issue with the water the rest of the time we were there. Overall I would recommend staying here, it is in a good location, there was plenty of space for 2 people, and with the additional bedroom (bunk beds) as well as the pull out futon downstairs, a group of 4-6 would be comfortable here as well. The small kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need to cook (we only made eggs and sandwiches but there were plenty of pots/pans, etc).Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for your review. Our apologies for the issue with the hot water and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will be sure to look into it so that the issue doesn't happen again. We hope you will stay again soon!

Three of us enjoyed the stay at the condo (we were there on our way back to drop off our daughter at UVM). the condo, located in a private development in the woods was clean and well furnished. It was so convenient to get to Mt Ellen and even though the weather did not cooperate, we had a great time. We grocery shopped in Rutland on our way up and we enjoyed eating at the table after skiing. The master bedroom is nice and the second bedroom is great for children or teenagers. Our daughter has a season pass at sugarbush this year, so we will definitely be back. It was a real pleasure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+.

What a fabulous condo in one of the most beautiuls parts of VT! Barbara (owner) provides a wonderfully clean, comfortable and cozy home that is perfect for a family vacation. Lots of space, great floorplan, fireplace, washer/dryer...all the amenities of home in a gorgeous, woodland setting. The heated pool is amazing, set up on a hill, completely private with a phenomenal view. The Mad River Valley is a summer playground! The swimming holes are absolutely magical, hiking, cafes, art galleries, fabulous restaurants, glass blowing, zip lines. So much to do. Highly recommend the new Sweet Spot Cafe, opened post-hurricane Irene. The Flatbread Pizza Company is also a must. Barbara answered all my questions promptly and efficiently. We've been going to Warren/Waitsfield for 10 years now, and this was by far, the best vacation yet. Would definitely recommend this condo without hesitation. Look forward to going back for years to come!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here for a ski weekend with some close friends and truly enjoyed our stay. The condo was beautifully decorated and very clean with all of the necessary amenities. There was plenty of room inside for everyone and their ski gear with a great view of the local mountains and rivers only steps from the front door. We will definitely choose this unit again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: I have been coming up to Vermont for over 30 years for skiing and summer vacations. I raised four daughters, all who learned to ski at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen and who now bring their families up to enjoy the serenity of the Green Mountains.
Why the Owner Chose Waitsfield:
After skiing many mountains throughout northern New England, I kept returning to the Sugarbush/Mad River area. I chose the Battleground for its central location to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen but also for the summer features it offered (swimming pool, tennis courts, playground, hiking trail access) which made it the perfect summer vacation spot with my daughters.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Besides the easy access to skiing and hiking, it is the little gems of the property that my family loves - the easy hike up an old logging road to the beaver pond and seeing moose tracks, catching butterflies while picking wildflowers, the mountain streams where the kids would catch brook trout with their butterfly nets. This is a place where memories are made.
