Our perfect escape from a hectic life is our beautiful log home perched on the side of a mountain at 8300ft with spectacular views overlooking the Fraser Valley and the Never Summer Mountain Range. There are several decks, but the rear deck facing west, off of the main living area and breakfast nook, offers breathtaking views year round.
Our home is centrally located in one of the premier vacation spots in Colorado. We are located in the Innsbruck-Val Moritz development, just outside the Sol Vista Ski area (literally a two minute drive over the hill) and only 20 minutes to the Winter Park Ski Area, and with easy access to seasonal snowmobile or ATV rentals, great snow shoeing and hiking trails. We are 8 miles to Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby for boat rentals and great fly fishing, only 10 miles to Hot Sulphur Springs to enjoy the natural hot springs (a favorite destination since 1846), about 15 miles to Rocky Mountain National Park for great hiking, surrounded by several golf courses (Grand Elk, Pole Creek, and Headwaters Golf Course), and only 1 mile to a shopping plaza for groceries. There are also some great local restaurants, so we can give you some tips. We also have hiking maps and published guide books for the area (bring your GPS).
You will love the cozy look, feel and scent of natural wood log throughout our home with a total of 2650 square feet of finished living space. The main floor offers a large main floor living area with gas fireplace and glass doors leading to the deck, with a large eat-in kitchen with breakfast nook that offers 180 degree views of the valley, together with a bedroom (queen size) and bath and full laundry and mud room. The upper level is the master bedroom (king size), master bath and loft with desk and views. The lower level offers a recreation room with 60” big screen TV (lots of movies on DVD), and third bedroom (queen size) and bath. Our home offers plenty of room for several couples and kids for a comfortable weekend escape or weeks of vacationing in the Rocky Mountains. Our home easily sleeps 6 adults (3 couples), with plenty of room for air mattresses for several more young adults to camp-in. There is lots of privacy with three separate levels and living areas. The large deck facing west, and convenient gas BBQ, makes summer nights and sunsets with friends to remember.
If you have to look after business on occasion, we understand. We have wi-fi and a small office area and desk in the loft area, with a great view that inspires. Cell coverage is typically excellent at the house.

We stayed for an entire week in this beautiful, well maintained home. Both the owners, Tony and Carol have an eye for detail throughout the house, i.e. Blow Dryer in the master bathroom right next to the mirror, this is just one example. The house has great character, plenty of space, great kitchen with everything necessary to prepare a nice meal and perfect views. My kids enjoyed the encounter one night from the porch with plenty of deer. Skiing and all the necessary amenities are close by. Perfect communication from the beginning to the end with Tony and Carol. We highly recommend this property to anyone. We definitely will be back. My wife, 2 daughters, son, niece, and I thoroughly enjoyed 5 nights in this log chalet! The 3 bedrooms with baths on different floors gave everyone enough space for thier own privacy. The views from the dining table and the deck were incredible. A grocery store a mile down the road was extremely convenient. We stayed busy the entire time with Granby Ranch nearly walking distance, the West entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park 30 minutes to the North, and Winter Park 30 minutes to the South. We will always fondly remember our vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We had an excellent time and were very comfortable with spacious rooms - lots of room for 5 adults and two children. We loved the location...very close to Sol Vista and and a short drive to Rocky Mountain. We found plenty to do and there were the convenience of a very nice grocery store nearby. The seven of us could not be happier with this rental. Beautiful views, wide open deck with deer enhancing this location just feet away from us. We found everything perfect and had a wonderful time in the area. My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the mountain home in Granby, and we had a wonderful time! We loved the views and the accommodations were great. It was a nice way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and we enjoyed the restaurants and hiking trails near the house. It was cool eating breakfast on the patio with deer just a couple feet away from us. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Rocky Mtn National Park - West Entrance View on map

There is an abundance of wildlife such as bighorn sheep, ptarmigan, coyote, and elk. In June and July the meadows and hillsides are splashed with the color of the wildflowers. Our house is located approximately 20 minutes to the Kawuneeche Visitor Center and the entrance to the park on the western slope. The more commercialized entrance is the eastern slope at the town Estes Park. Both are beautiful places to enter the park. The drive through the park from Grand Lake over the Continential Divide to Estes Park is about 60 miles or 2 hours.

About the owner: Hi, we are Tony and Carol. I relocated from New York nearly 20 years ago for a career opportunity with a small consulting firm. I stayed for the great lifestyle. Carol is a Colorado native who grew up in the Denver/Boulder area. We both have busy careers that require lots of travel. When we can, we like to combine business travel and pleasure to explore new places. We have both traveled around the world on business, but we always look forward to coming home to Colorado. Our kids all reside in Colorado and love it. We both love the outdoors and so many things to do in Colorado. We love motorcycling around the state, the jeep culture, kayaking and skiing, but also the great comedy clubs, sports scene and restaurants in Denver. So any time of the year there is always something fun to do.
Why the Owner Chose Granby Ranch (formerly SolVista):
We fell in love with the area when the kids were little and we were looking for a great family ski vacation area. Silver Creek, later to become Sol Vista ski area was the perfect place to learn to ski. After many ski trips, and expanding our ski vacations to Winter Park and more challenging terrain, we found snow shoeing, sledding and were introduced to snowmobiling. Coming back in the summers, the attraction became hiking, the lakes and ATV rentals. With so much to do, a second home became first a dream. A log home in the mountains. We were able to make it a reality. Our house is the perfect retreat, only 85 miles from our home in Littleton Colorado. It's a great vacation area and always the perfect escape from a busy work week.

Our house is uniquely situated right outside the Sol Vista ski area so its only a two minute drive over the hill to the lifts. Sol Vista is a great family ski resort. For more challenge and night life, we are only 20 minutes to Winter Park and Mary Jane. For Snow Shoeing, its only a short drive to Devil's Thumb Ranch and the Shadow Mountain YMCA. Both summer and winter, this is a great recreational area with convenient shopping, access to golf courses and restaurants, all while enjoying the serenity and beauty of the Rocky Mountains. With our house perched overlooking the Fraser Valley, the views are spectacular, day or night.
